It was a good experience

We liked the design of the house, but had many issues during build and completion of the home. The completion date was more than 2 months longer than the latest "finish" date....a problem when moving from out of state, selling a home, and arranging for movers. The house was not finished at the time of the closing, and the cleanliness of the home was unacceptable. The trades' workmanship was sub-standard and sloppy. We have been living in the house for about 2 months and we still have repair people coming in to properly finish the house. It was a very poor building experience for us.

The overall experience was good. The sales team was great, the kb home design studio was great, the kb home mortgage team was excellent, closing went well. The only hiccups are with the finishing of the home. I would have expected it to be in a better shape when closing. We have numerous issues that will need to be resolved over the next few months, like creaking floors, furnace problems, toilets and hardware not well aligned, some aesthetics with paint and drywall. It appears like this is common with new builds but I just wished there was a higher attention to detail prior to closing. These should be addressed as part of the warranty, but it's definitely an inconvenience. ... More

The sales, loan and design teams at KB homes are excellent. The construction and warranty teams fall flat on providing services and communicating updates.

KB had a lot of supply chain and labor problems as did all builders. So they rushed the inspection process to get to closing and get my money. After that it has been like pulling teeth to get them to finish the items that they PROMISED to take care of. Now that winter has set in I expect most items will not be addressed until spring. In retrospect, I would recommend have your own inspector submit a report before closing and to not close until the items are addressed. Don't count on KB to fix things after you close. And they continually harassed me top submit this review, so here it is.

Upgraded appliance not included,

1st time home buyer, no complaints other than from KB financing team. They are like used car salesmen. Constantly calling after I told them we went through an outside company. One week I got 8 calls by 5 different people... Annoying and very unnecessary.

The process if purchasing the home was fine. Our loan officer Rossana was awesone she goes above and beyond. Before moving we pointed out a lot of repairs and cosmetic issues all over the home. We have been in the home for almost 2 months now and none of the issues have been corrected. Everytime we reach out they tell us that their priority is closing on the rest of the homes.

Kept us up to date on progress and issues that affected schedule.

Some items were wonderful and other items were average to below average for the price paid

Unfortunately, what was supposed to be an enjoyable experience turned out to be far from it. Due to a changing home sales market in June/July we struggled to get our (previous) home under contract. KB didn't care. Not only did they not want to work with us to still close on our new home, they literally gave us an ultimatum. On July 19th, we received an email which read; "Get your home under contract by Saturday, July 23 or we will consider you in breach of contract and sell them home to another buyer. If we are able to sell the home before August 30, we will return your earnest money. If not, you will forfeit the money." It's important to note that our close date wasn't until August 10. After doing some research we learned that this happened because they wanted to get the home off their books prior to their next quarterly earnings report which was, by no coincidence, one day after their ultimatum deadline. Obviously, this is not what a customer wants to be told, and things got worse before they got better. As for the quality of workmanship, we've had 3 separate leaks in our furnace system over the last 2 months. Each time we had water puddled on the basement floor. We've been told that the leaks are fixed and "shouldn't have any more." We've been here 3 months and our "30-day punch list" has about half the things done. We were told that some won't be done until the 10-month punch list. While not all of these problems are directly KB's fault, it's the fault of their subcontracted trades workers. We've seen with our own eyes that some of them do not care about the end product. They just want to get the job "done" and get paid. In fairness, I will again say that some of these problems are not directly caused by KB. However, they've been in business long enough to know that you get out what you put in. Since they continue to hire people with poor to no work ethic, in the end, it is in fact their fault. ... More

I am a second time KB homeowner. This experience has been HORRIBLE. I have encountered multiple issues that were pointed out several weeks prior to closing. The issues pointed out, poor craftsmanship, wrong appliances installed, defective carpet installation, wrong size vanity for second bathroom, drywall application and upgraded painting application were all horrendous. I purchased a new home that should have the upgrades and appropriate workmanship I paid for. This is the biggest purchase I have ever made and has resulted in the biggest disappointment.

KB was super easy to deal with throughout the homebuilding process.

Jan and I enjoyed the home buying experience……. We had to leave town earlier than expected to welcome our second grandchild home. Looking forward to seeing you guys again and completing our 30 day waikthrough

We felt supported from the moment we walked into the model home in our new KB Home community. Martin on the Sales team was wonderful at fielding all our questions or finding the answers if he didn’t have them himself. As first-time homebuyers, we were nervous and unsure with some processes, but the entire KB team (sales, construction, design) guided us every step of the way. We’re so happy with our new home!

The build took a bit longer than we expected but we are now in our new home and are loving it. There have been a few growing pains but that was to be expected and my contacts have mostly dealt with them quickly. Overall we are happy we built new. The KB team has been fantastic.

Almost two months after closing, we still waiting for window and roof repairs to be done! Had two appointments scheduled, but the KB repair staff was never showed up.

Overall was a good experience

My wife and I have lived in our new KB build for nearly two months in Parker, CO as of October 2023. While we are enjoying our new home, we have been inundated with a multitude of issues in our home stemming from poor workmanship. Uneven floors, holes underneath carpet, leaking shower surround, improper installation of light fixture, crooked window frames, poor gas line installation given customer’s selected appliances, among other things. I know KB isn’t custom home builder, but there is no doubt that more should be expected from a company charging 500k and above in our area.

We were so excited to design and build our new home. The sales and design center teams were great. Everything after that went downhill. Our superintendent ignored every single communication I sent, items were installed or built incorrectly despite me regularly notifying the superintendent, and closing got delayed the morning of our final walkthrough, when I had flown back in the night before just for this process. So disappointed with KB. We still have broken, incorrect and missing items over two months from closing, with absolutely no communication from KB regarding when they will address these issues. ...
