KB built our neighbors home after ours was built. They built the same model as ours with their windows all mirroring ours. The fence is lower then the windows, therefore we can see into each others homes. We have NO privacy!

KB Home - My experience with the builder and Sarah was awesome.

My experience with the builder and Sarah was awesome. They answered every question I had and was able to assist me when needed. My 3 star rating is due to the loan officer, Sylma. As a loan officer she was not knowledgeable and very incompetent. She would give closure dates and not make her deadlines. Instead of her being honest with the changes in the closure dates she would put blame on others. I was told my closure date was changed due to waiting on meters to be installed. Once the meters were installed my closure date was changed again because she was waiting on GSFA to approve me. When I ...

The construction manager (Joey) was the highlight of our experience.

Marcell, our salesman was nice in person but at times not very responsive and seemed to lack knowledge of products and building procedures. He was also rude to our agent a couple times. Once we finished that part of the process working with Joey was a far better experience. He was super responsive and went put of his way to help us and explain anything that needed to be explained. He was flexible with scheduling and didn't mknd going the extra mile.

The home is great! The finishing work was less than expected

The quality of the home overall is great! The finishing work (painting, trim work) and overall cleaning was very messy! We did a lot of work on our own to get the place in tip/top shape. As a new build we expected to move in with most everything ready to go. Our KB sales rep was very responsive and understanding.

Our down payment wire was lost by KB mortgage for 5 days, living room texturing very poor quality and roofing subcontractor performance was way below par extending our closing by a month. Other than that, they were great overall.

Interesting home to move into

The responsiveness has been amazing. They've had challenges given I moved in just as the city was going into the "safer-at-home" measures. Having said that, I'm finding so many nail holes not filled in. I see what looks like flakes on the walls, but when I touch the flakes, they are actually poorly covered nail holes that when touched flake off to show the underlying drywall and nail. I have a shower stall in the master bath, but the tile cuts are uneven making it look like the work was not done by a professional. It was a difficult decision to buy a house in this price range - I think I ...

I have a few issues that have been identified, but it's not fair to comment due to the covid-19 state that we are in. I've been advised that only emergency issues will be attended to. That being said, I can't honestly comment on what they can't do. Until I know what they would do with my outstanding concerns. These are only preliminary responses, but not final.

Great Service and process, mediocre materials and workmanship

In short, good experience with KB, the service, responsiveness. Would recommend the team and ease of doing business anytime. From a value and workmanship perspective, I think they are mediocre; some paper-thin walls (sound), rushed finishes, carpet tags and bolts missing (though again, good service to fix). I think value (price) is ok for the Bay Area. But for the $ I would expect better materials.

Have had multiple customer service requests to be fixed after closing, however KB seems to be very responsive to those requests to get them resolved. Windows replaced. Still waiting call from company for Microwave to be replaced, stove clips to be installed (Customer service turned it over to appliance company as of 2 days ago), cabinet door replacement and a few door/drawer fixes scheduled Dec 31.

They build the houses in less than 5 months, and close them. Then all the issues show up once the homeowner is living in the property… So get used to living in a construction zone while they repair what should have been done right from the beginning…

We expected much more from the quality of the KB Home. With the price and presentation, we thought that we were purchasing an excellent house. However once in, we realize that the quality is much lower than our expectations. Exapmples - a) the insulation is terrible - the wall between the office and master bath seems like there is NO insulation - when the shower door is closed - it reverberates loudly in the office - that should NEVER be the case. Ralph comes from a builder family and knows what quality is. He is also an Interior Designer/Architect and knows the business - thus we have been ...

Poor communication

The builders seem to have pressure to mass produce homes which then results in a product that is rushed at the last minute to close. The pre closing walkthrough date will get moved without notification to you so your PTO you requested will feel wasted. Your “10-day” walkthrough after closing will actually be a month and a half later and there will be at least another month that passes before those issues get corrected as well. The house seems to be good expect lots of headaches caused by a lack of communication throughout the process.

The quality of home itself and materials are very good. There are however many items that should have been addressed during walk thru

The home was built too quickly IMHO due to numerous delays to get started. There was too many houses going up at the same time. I believe this resulted in the issues we noted during our walk through. The items we noted during walk thru honestly should have been noted prior and fixed prior to our walk thru. Here we are 5 months later and still have open issues. I haven't been able to get responses from warranty and superintendent.

1.)Upon walkthrough notice drain and crawl space, ask what's that for was told for emergencies. Now upon inspections and crawlspace, moisture and water underwater vapor. So waters coming in under the drainage system at this time causing issues with mold possibly growing. 2.) serious noise issue with air conditioning unit outside of master bedroom. The piping is run through the framing and not properly insulated that it makes a vibration noise and keeps us awake most of the night. It started to cause health issues. Bob's heating has come inspected and says the unit is running properly. The ...

The entire process was quite stressful as communication between the KB Home corporate office and the title company (First American Title) was terrible. They couldn’t coordinate the closing date and it kept changing. KB kept wanting to close on my new house without having me do a final walkthrough. Quite a poor experience.

As this is our second star rating survey that I am receiving. The list of issues that haven't been fixed and new issues continue to pop up. My family and I are trying to enjoy our new home, it turns out there's something new popping up that needs to be fixed and other issues have to wait because we were told there will be a 1 year walk through for items to be looked at or fixed. Giving just two examples. Example One would be: drywall, texture and paint. Second example would be: the AC unit out side is dented and broken in which something had fallen on it when the roof was being installed). A ...
