KB has affordable houses and they are all very updated with new technology. However, things in my home were rushed and not done correctly. From un level windows and light-switches (yes noticeably crooked) to a water main bursting in the first two weeks. I do give KB kudos for actively fixing all the issues but still the headache of contractors coming in to my new home to fix things during COVID has been annoying. This is my first actual new home I’ve ever purchased. Prior to my purchase I had a used home that was made by KB when I lived in SoCal. I’ve never had any issues with that house that I previously lived in, and that was the main reason why I decided to make my first home purchase with KB. The salesperson we dealt with was not forthcoming about the true price of the home or the options we would be getting in the home. Our concerns were not addressed properly until we reached out to higher management on our own as our sales agent would not do it. Once we tried to be made whole and expressed the concern to her manager, there was nothing done about it and we were made to feel like it was our fault and we were stuck. Initially the commitment to customer service and quality helped seal the deal, as we got more into the process these things quickly disappeared. Part of what we were sold was the commitment to communication, customer service, and quality. We felt like we couldn't trust anything we heard from anybody, we were told what people thought we wanted to hear. Had to do 3 walk throughs. When something needed to be fixed, it created other new issues. The person doing the walk through tried to get me to just nod, say yes, and sign off on the house. He got very annoyed when I refused. When other issues arose I dealt with Mark. He was fantastic in getting my concerns taken care of in a timely manner.

As owners we have had to deal with numerous issues, from paint , drywall, cabinetry, hardware, and electrical. It has taken a lot longer than we think it should have to resolve these issues. We're also lucky that we have somebody in the house to be there for all of these various appointments that have had to be made to take care of these issues. If not, either my wife or I would have missed quite a bit of work to be at the house.

While some items weren't immediately noticeable, we have quite a few issues with floor levels, improper installation of fixtures, chunks missing from door frames, loud air conditioner that vibrates bedroom wall despite adding additional insulation, landscape died before move-in, etc. We were supposed to be contacted for a 10 day and 30 day after inspection and never were. We had issues that were basically going to be ignored if we didn't push and are still awaiting fixes.

The quality of work is unsatisfactory. I have to hire my own inspector to inspect the work that they do. JD - the superintendent does not return phone calls on time or does not attend to your needs or questions. He told me that he is to update me once a week but never did. Sometimes he doesn’t even call you back. I have to get the help from my realtor or KB home realtor to get my questions answered. After choosing to go with KB Home to build my very first home, I must say that this experience could have been better. The property looked good until my family and I moved in. There were a few inconveniences inside the home that had to be fixed. Plus all the midges or blind mosquitoes that were inhabiting the house when we moved in. And don’t get me started on the untreated pond behind the house. 1 Low Voc paint is tacky months later on all the flat surfaces and I am going to have to do something else to fix that as it's already ruined 2 Plastic plumbing parts that are already breaking 3 Yard was not leveled when filled and before sod was put down so it is tacky looking and uneven. My wife and I found Aurora Heights about ten months ago as a developing community. The first impressions were very grand.
