New construction house still can find several things need to be reworked/ repaired. Ex. ceiling LED lights falling, missing cabinet shelf, drill holes, uneven wall, leaking sprinkler, and crack driveway due to the Community concrete work.

There is lack of communication among employees. Very poor response when it comes to fixing issues.

I wish I could have given a better rating but I have to be honest about this review. In my opinion, the construction material is not the greatest quality. We noticed a few things since moving in, such as our front door does not feel secure. A corner of the front door near the lock is cracked, and someone used something like clay to patch the crack. The front door pops open a little even when the door is locked. The lock does not turn completely to assure the lock won’t reopen. The front door feels like hard plastic instead of real wood. The door in the master bathroom does not close unless you try lifting the door. Also the kitchen outlets does not work. Most door knobs lock counter clockwise which drives me crazy because I want to turn the locks clockwise. I gave home buying experience a 3 because there was a lot of miscommunication throughout the home buying Process with the financial department. Within three months of move-in, multiple observations have been made of poor quality of workmanship

I understand our initial consultation guy got laid off, so none of our initial issues are fixed. We are now in warranty and have had a major plumbing leak that we've already cut thru walls and have fans in our house for a week, not happy. I still have paint touch ups (inside&outside) nails sticking out, repaint in certain areas, recaulking around windows (sloppy job). Everyone at KB is nice, but getting no immediate help on getting my house 100% after sale.

Buildup materials are very good. Our property model was designed to cancel outside noise. Very quiet inside the house. Quality of workmanship should be double and triple checked for the general contractor and subcontractors. Upon occupancy of the property, we came across items that were damaged and loose fixtures. Painters failed to remove edging tapes, clean their areas, and windows were dirty. KB has a checklist during a walk-through. The company definitely can improve reliability of the subcontractors to keep them at a higher standard. A quality control or a checklist should be performed for each sub’s workmanship. Good color schemes

From sales to design studio, construction everything is not up to the mark for the money which you are paying. Think twice before going with KB, be careful at every step with sales & construction people.

Brand new home with issues and even though they tell you there is a warranty, no one calls to follow up or give an idea when issues will be taken care of. So not sure whether issues will be fixed.

Where to begin. The overall experience out of 5 stars regarding KB as a whole I would give is a 3 across the board. The reason for this is the lack of prompt, timely and consistent communication. Specifically from the KB Home and Construction Manager associates we enter acted with from beginning to end. Out Home Loan Consultant, Joe was amazing and very much a valuable asset to KB’s team. The Design Studio, although there were minor errors on a few things, which they worked quickly to get correct and resolved, were fantastic! Our construction manager for Medford Lakes was not at the standard the other 2 areas I just mentioned above. He made it a point on a consistent basis to add in almost every conversation, “Now when you get that survey, be sure to give 10’s and 5’s across the board.” He pointed out to us on many occasions, that if we didn’t not give those ratings across the board, it still affected him. I didn’t like the fact that by him saying that to us made us feel that if we didn’t that he would give us a harder time of the issues we brought up during our build. I’m sure he wouldn’t but it sure felt that way. He did provide push back several times and we stood firm with what we wanted. Steve did make efforts to fix the areas in which we asked him to have his guys do, but it was only as the cost for a 10 or 5 star rating. Those experiences, although fixed, didn’t yield a high rating. If he and his team was perfect, the issues we brought up wouldn’t have been issues. Steve said he’d do things and they weren’t done. Still to this day as I write, I haven’t received small items that he said he’d do. I don’t need them anymore as I went ahead and took care of the need. It’s the principle, mean what you say and be a person of your word. Not for the cause of a desired rating. Again, all in all, Steve and his team and the KB Home Loans team and the experiences they provided me during my journey of KB Home ownership was nothing greater than a 3 out of 5 start or 7 out of 10 rating. Id like to provide a KB build recommendation for its homes and that would be to consider having insulation placed in the walls throughout the house. As we’ve lived in the house, we’ve learned that you hear everything and the walls are very much thin because of it. An added layer of insulation would help tremendously in the interior walls. I understand the home is an efficiency rated home and doesn’t need that, but for the sounds you hear when faucets, doors shut, conversations, etc. this would be an added benefit. The screen porch door and sliding doors aren’t sealed and the screen door doesn’t stay on the track. The window screens for the house, don’t say in place and have measurement issues that cause them to not fit properly. The cabinetry caulked to the wall has already separated in the kitchens and bathrooms. The concrete floors when poured are not even. There is a crack in the ceiling in our entry way. The front door bottom seal doesn’t seal properly when shut. The garage door has the same issue as there is a visible and noticeable gap. The blinds don’t crank and turn smoothly. There are quite a few things that for a new home and only being in it for 3-4 months seem like shouldn’t be. I'm sorry but with the experience i went through, I would not recommend.

Please check the workmanship. Bottom door gaps to large, latch plate not precise (3 doors), painting appears down right amateurish - wall repairs you actually see the paint roller marks, cutting on corners not precise. I really expected more from a reputable builder like KB.

Our first home-buying experience was ok in the end, but not this 2nd time. We had a flooring issue the first time that was resolved before we closed. Through that experience we feel that the rating system is off in our opinion. We gave a 9/10 due to the problems with the floor, but had the construction manager at our door pleading it be changed to a 10. We thought 9/10 was pretty darn good considering the flooring headache. Otherwise, that first experience was ok. Now we move on to this next experience. It has become a nightmare. The home is way way way more expensive than our first KB home, but the quality of workmanship is worse(the materials seem ok though). The workers seem to not be skilled in their respective roles (painter, carpet installer, etc. All except the worker that installed our backsplash, who gets an A+!). The construction manager is a nice fella & seems to try hard, but has way too much to do and continues to make promise after promise. The home closed with several problems being promised to be resolved later. We either get put off and put off, or the fixes are horribly done or cause worse problems. Most of our neighbors have experienced similar experiences, and some are waiting even after nearly a year. We are all disappointed and worn out. But, given the rating system issue, we are not really allowed to rate anything less than a 10 for fear folks may lose their jobs. The pressure to rate a 10 is through the roof! Though the build manager promises to fix things, many fixes are worse than the original problem. We are exhausted and worn from cleaning paint off floors, trying to schedule repair folks to come fix problems several times over, managing the manager, etc. etc. etc. I knew it was KB when I began, but was hoping it would at least be as good of an experience as our first KB home despite the problems then. It is way way worse in this community. Sales guy is AWESOME, but the rest of our experience has been beyond exhausting. Beware this Community...the neighbors are nice, but the build process and horrible workmanship and need to have things fixed over & over & over is a nightmare. :( Overall, KB seems just as fine as other builders in it's price-range/caliber. But this community...ay caramba. And with the rating pressure for a 10/10, what recourse do we have? Plumbing contractor states loose sink does not need to be fixed. Painter was good but contractor that does medicine cabinet replaced damaged medicine cabinet with another damaged medicine cabinet. Contractors have no regard for dirt as they track in mud with their boots and do not offer to clean up their mess.

Have outside paint issues, master bath caulking issues and master shower drain issues. I have advised project manager about flooring issues and was suppose to get back. Nothing. Advised about sliding glass door frame caulking issue. I had an electrical issue where multiple wires were bare in box and it was repaired with just applying electrical tape. Not acceptable. Entry door is damaged and got painted over and other doors in house have same issues. I was suppose to get a complimentary water filtration system at kitchen sink. Company came out over a month ago and said they would contact me and nothing yet. So I'm not happy at all. ... More

Quick to build, quick to move on.

Their painters all need to go. None of them apparently will use painter's tape, and no straight lines are painted. Horrible paint job that we have to settle for. We have lived in the house close to 2 months. Now they say there needs to be an appraisal where they come in a take pictures of the inside of my home. I am completely uncomfortable with this.

I would pick another builder if I had to redo the process.

We have had issues with flooring, a crack in the ceiling in the master bedroom, and the exterior paint. These concerns were addressed promptly but after a month repairs have not been made.

Supervisions on jobs and better workmanship,

This was my first home building and buying experience and I am slightly disappointed. I chose to go with KB home because they promised and strive for "great customer satisfaction" and portrayed their company as being highly attentive to their home owners. We love our home but there are many flaws. I would describe our home as "messy." When doing our walk throughs with the construction manager we pointed out specific things that were not right or that needed to be corrected and we were promised everything would be fixed and perfect before we moved in. Well that was not the case because there is a multitude of areas in our home that need to be fixed. Secondly, we were promised a 10 day follow up after move in and we did not receive any acknowledgement or "check in" until a month and a half after moving in. I have been living here for 2 months now and still have not had any of the problems in my home fixed or had any further follow up. The only good experience we had was in the studio. We had a great representative that walked us through each and every aspect. It is a very over whelming experience and she made it very easy. The only misleading part is picking out the exterior colors of the house. They give you a sheet with a few different swatches laid out and expect you to pick your house color from that. I would recommend having a physical picture of the house painted in each color scheme to help the buyer have a better idea of what their house will look like. I have been in my home 3 months and still waiting on things to be fixed. For a how That will cost me half a million dollars once paid not worth it.

I would not recommend KB Homes to anyone. Unless they really wanted to be in the community that KB is developing. Build quality, craftsmanship and finish and attention to details is inferior to many other builders Like Terry Homes

The ability to get the site approved, financing approved, selection of floor plans, etc. was excellent. The home, however, was rushed and the finish work is terrible. Damaged door, drywall tape visible all over the place, caulk lines look like they were done by a drunk, silicon cracking around sinks within a month. Responses to repairs are excruciatingly slow. 2 months to get a medicine cabinet installed that should've been there prior to closing. Worker sent for drywall repair made a mess and the repairs were horrible. Next guy did well to fix his predecessors work but then used the wrong paint. 3 weeks later and still not fixed. Construction crews from kb working on other houses have driven forklifts through our lawn enough that large sections of sod need to be replaced. Trash from other sites in our yard every day.
