Poor Quality Control and Lack of Follow Through

The sales and design team were great, we designed a home we were looking forward to. We got word of our closing date and would have the new home orientation the day before and the home was not finished with many issues. We were asked to come back the next day before our closing and we were promised the house would be finished with a final clean completed. The next day we arrived to much the same home. KB Home - The initial completion date was not respected due to Covid-19

The initial completion date was not respected due to Covid-19 related issues, but once i moved in, i noticed minor issues with the property, such as the concrete slab that we paid for, which was not installed and other structural issues with the property. We were also told of a 10 day follow up review, which never took place. Some knobs are loose, and all of this is happening as we just moved in.

Luxury price points, but non-luxury homebuying experience

Even though the homes at Solano were priced at $1.5M-$1.7M, which are pretty nice single family homes even for Irvine, we felt like the KB homebuying experience was more in line with what one would expect from condos/townhomes well below the $1M mark. DESIGN CENTER The design options at the Design Center were way too limited for homes at this price point and not high quality or at the level of luxury that is warranted by homes at this price point. Our dream home disaster

We closed in late September. That same weekend our entire kitchen and most of our LVP had to be ripped out because of water damage caused by a faulty dishwasher setup. We were in the house for nearly a month, then found out we had mold. We have since been removed from the home awaiting remediation. This has been an absolute nightmare, but we are working through the remaining issues. Additionally, the overall build quality was average at best with some areas still needing repairs or rework. All of this after almost two months after closing. I wouldn't do it again.

Poor workmanship & materials

Quality of workmanship & materials is the worst. All the money spend on upgrade are absolute waste of money and time. Build quality is so poor in comparison to other builders, are horrible. My first experience with KB Home was worst, so I will never buy in future and will not recommend any one to buy from KB Homes.

Nearly two months in and I still have a broken garage. Not all my knobs for my cabinets are installed. It took over a month to provide a missing air filter.

KB Home and its subcontractors did not install the flooring and portions of the baseboard in my new home correctly, within industry standards or within manufacturers recommendations/specifications. Throughout the build process the original superintendent and regional supervisor were dismissive and patronizing. To slow building houses, that’s why people turn around and change their mind to buy a property. The finish touch of the properties are not professionally, such as back slight door not safe and get misplace every time is opening, worst outside water plumbing connection to the house, faucets, no compact flat terrain with the grass, ship materials to build up a house. Etc.

Not Happy with the amount of issues

We have had 21 warranty issues from structural to Flooding, to stress fractures in drywall, too many to list. The list has been submitted many times and only 7 items have been completed. Can't get any service from Whirlpool for the dishwasher and its still sitting on our carpet and floor haven't been installed. We are very disappointed in the Customer Service area of KB.

The model home was impeccable, your home will not be. We paid thousands in upgrading almost everything that you could in their base model home, and our home looks like a college kid slapped everything together with a hammer and some nails. Cabinets are crooked, chipped, cracked, and missing hardware. Vinyl floors are warped like you are walking on an uneven gravel road, same experience with carpet (the subfloors are not settling correctly). Terrible Customer service after signing the house

I still waiting for the part replace to be fix also the construction next door just brought lots of dirt and mud in from on my driveway and no one seen to clean that out. According to the city that is an environmental problem having so much dirt with no erosion control.

Horrible buying process, once you buy the home and you fill out the first survey you never can get a call back.

Supposed to have a 1 year warranty on issues but there is no point of contact, the buying experience was horrible and they locked me into not using a realtor. The floors are warped in several homes in this community, the irrigation and land sloping is not bad. Constant issues, I wish KB just followed through with their promises.

Extremely Dissapointed

Once you sign the purchase agreement get ready for delays, broken promises and costly mistakes that will most likely delay your closing. We have been in our home a month and a half, had to leave for 5 days for them to do the repair work to the house at the end of October and still have not received reimbursement as promised. Their vendors do NOT wear masks so beware of that if you are at high risk for COVID. Our solar is still not set up and the HOA rep does not respond for weeks at a time.

Poor Customer Service

Customer service has done a poor job on fixing a simple landscaping that I have had from the moment I moved into my new house. The company that KB does their landscaping with has damaged some of my property and has failed continuously to resolve a simple issue. I am going on two months in living in my new house and have yet to fully enjoy my yard. My experience in purchasing my first house has been stressful and disappointing.

You have to beg the warranty department to respond to you

I still have issues in my home that have gone unresolved. Warranty refuses to answer my calls after complaining about a shower that continues to spew water out of my walk in shower because of poor quality craftsmanship. They said they fixed it but only said that just so they can buy more time and let the Warranty run out so they don't have to deal with my home. Beware when buying from this builder you might also find unwanted things in your basement bedroom should you decide to finish you basement with KB homes.
