Some upgrades shouldn't be paid for. It is s desappointment. Already having issues with the backyard, water sitting in and my ceileing lamps falling off. I like my house but you could have done better

They never seem to get the time frame right and each dept did not seem to speak to the other (eg sales, construction, financial). My buying experience was excellent. Very responsive and always available to answer my many questions. After being here for almost 2 months I notice that there are a lot of things are not up to par. Window that doesn’t lock, window with a very apparent hole in the frame, paint speckles on the floor, area by front door not coated correctly correctly, cover up was attempted with paint instead of fixing it right., baseboard missing in kitchen behind refrigerator, outlets with usb plug are difficult to plug in to but was told that’s just the way they are. It's the little things in life that matter most and the finish carpentry was extremely poor. Walls not plumb, messy grout lines, dings & nicks everywhere (interior & exterior). I also need to mention KBH's framing means & methods. KBH doesn't cover the whole exterior shell of their homes in plywood sheathing or board of any kind because their homes have been "engineered" and the sheathing is only needed in "certain locations" to meet the shear strength requirements. So KBH uses 25 to 50% less sheathing per home, saving them a ton of money but not necessarily the consumer. From a business standpoint I get it, but from a consumers standpoint KBH just seems cheap. Another small rub I had was the 24 inch on center framing (in lieu of 16" standard) for interior walls that aren't consider load barrier. Pleads for ratings of 10 for perfection is predominant but be careful AFTER their surveys. Verbal promises are forgotten and you end up looking dumb for making requests based on non written commitments. A definite shift of attitude begins. I'm hoping I'm wrong. Too pricey for Compton area. Contract with other alarm systems. KPS alarms alarm quality is not the best and other alarm system have more quality in re: customer services and products available. Also it’s ridiculous that KPS even has a 5 year contract. You’re pretty much stuck with them unless you pay out the contract. When calling the customer service line no one answers or if they do they are not much help. If they didn't have a great superintendent that helps out so much i would have a problem with them not answering. Other then that its a great home.
