We were reluctant to build with KB based on others' experiences we'd heard about, but in a tight housing market, we decided that it was the easiest way to get a house in the location we wanted for a reasonable price. The sales experience was fine. The design studio process was unnecessarily confusing and time-consuming because they use software from the 1990s (I'm talking green type on a black screen) that makes it take forever for the consultant to give you the price for something and ultimately build the order. Our first consultant made several key errors. We complained about this and the manager did our final appointment (via Google hangout due to COVID). She was great, but after our home was in the build process I really wish she (or someone) had walked us through the lighting locations. We ended up with a lot less overhead lighting than we would have chosen if we knew how few lights they would provide. The build process itself was not well-supervised. Subcontractors installed broken cabinets and then the construction manager had them patched up later. Our window wells are uneven so our blinds fit well at the top of the window but not at the middle or bottom. This is a framing error. I could go on, but basically anything we didn't upgrade was inferior and even some of the stuff we did upgrade wasn't the quality I would have chosen. We've found a lot of mistakes in the couple months we've lived here. Nothing we can't either fix or live with. Not sure another Austin-area builder would have done a better job as they all use the low bidder subcontractors. Thankfully my husband is super handy. Be prepared to watch everything, spend the money on a 3rd party inspector, and then set aside a couple thousand dollars to make your home what you want it to be. ... More

The staff was great! From the sales team to the design studio team and construction team! They all went above and beyond!!

From the first time we talked about floor plans and available lots, to our closing day, everyone was amazing. Our sales associate transferred communities and still managed to keep us updated weekly. Superintendent was very responsive and kept us up to date the entire time, and made it possible to close early!

This was my first home building experience, and our sales person, Marc was very enthusiastic, interested in helping us get what we wanted, and even makes time to walk the neighborhood and see the new homes being built. Our contractor Garrett was amazing. Every concern we had, he addressed. Nothing was silly or ridiculous to him, he genuinely wanted to help make everything perfect. Finance side was what you'd expect, nothing extraordinary there. It's a beautiful home, we are excited to be living here and watching the subdivision grow!

Overall it was great with just a few hiccups.

I and my wife made a tour around shopping for the best builder in the city for about 3 months. KB homes was outstanding. We were just lucky to get what we wanted for our dream home. We starting building our home from scratch and had the opportunity to visit KB home studio where we choose all the materials we wanted from our home. I am thankful to Deb the sales agent who loaded us with every information we needed to start and gave us the best of advise. Giving us updates regularly till the end of the building process. Thankful to for Michelle the loan office for her guidance in the very successful loan process. Answering all our questions satisfactorily and giving us updates, making sure we knew what to expect and helping us stay on track. We were amazed how her hard work brought us broad smiles during closing. Thankful to Bricio the energetic formidable building superintendent for transforming our little rough idea into a magnificent life dream home. He was the brain, eyes and ears of our home as it was being built and did our first and final walk through with us during the finishing and when everything was complete. He was pointing out things that we probably would not have noticed had he not been on top of it. We thank him for our beautiful home. They build your house for you. Personalization is taken very seriously

I'm so frustrated with overall build quality issues and non responsiveness to the reported issues for warranty. Never going to buy a KB Home again.
