My family bought our house sight unseen as we were moving to San Antonio and wanted a house upon arrival. We knew we wanted to go with KB but didn't have time to build custom so had to wait for one to become available. It was a race to lock one down and we finally got one. The location isn't great and the house is actually better than it looked in videos. However, there were a lot of issues found during our inspection we ordered and there were some that they didn't remediate until I sent the inspector back again. Upon arriving to the home, I found more issues with poor attention to detail and damages in the home. I have just moved in so I'm planning to contact them to fix damages. Also during the buying experience I was extremely pressure to close very fast and this was my first time buying a home so it was very unpleasant. All the stress and pressure just for them to push the closing date back a month. Overall I'm happy with the home but I cannot speak on durability as I just moved in. The home buying process was seamless, Jerry and Rueben are awesome. My customer service rep is very responsive in getting things done. Check every little nook and cranny of your home and do site visits if possible. My home was not cleaned before moving in so I had paint speckles all throughout the home, handprints were everywhere in the flooring which took some scrubbing because it didn't come up with just a mop. DO NOT sign off that your home is 100% until everything is to your standard or liking. Depending on where you move the ball may get dropped on somethings. My sprinkler system doesn't cover my entire yard so I have dead patches that we have to hand water. For the most part I have a good Rep that does get things done after move in, so Im ok with my home. ... More

Since the start, purchasing my home from KB, was not a good experience. The day of closing turned out to be a week of closing. Now that I’ve moved into the house, doors were not hung properly, the carpet was not tacked down correctly, it lifts from most of the corners in big sections. The living/ dining rooms tiles were not installed correctly. The tiles were uneven. I’ve been sitting in a construction site for a week and it looks like it’ll be longer. I feel like I’ve made a mistake buying this house. I’m so frustrated.

Unfortunately we have had quite a few issues with our home, leaking master bath, cracked concrete on driveway, paint on door fixtures, plaster on patio and drive way out front. KB has been available and working on all of our items, they immediately got in touch with the plumbers to fix the shower which was appreciated.

The overall experience is something I would never want to experience again. This was supposed to be our dream house but we had to choose different products that were not as nice as what we originally chose. Plus we were lied to about when our house would be complete. We had to live in a two bedroom apartment for a whole year.

Quality is not good, the floor makes noise and vehicle outside makes the building vibrates

These are the pending and issues after the closing day: 1.Perimetral fence: one picket missing. Who supervised this? 2.Perimetral fence: two broken pickets. Who supervised this? 3.Perimetral fence: one picket half-nailed. Who supervised this? 4.Stairway: no lights 5.One electric breaker needed to be serviced (replaced). 6.Kitchen window: missing screen. The original screen was in the garage at the time of the first walk-through inspection. 7.Duct for the dryer: it needed to be shortened as it was too long. 8.Back door lock: the master key did not open/lock it. ... I didn't like that updates of the construction phases were not sent often as promoted. The home took 7 months to complete and there were only 5 pictures sent of the phrases. I hired a third inspector and felt KB home contractor was annoyed at the reports. It was not accommodate for home walk thru late evening. Overall decent but felt quality of work is rushed. I found beer can and pants during on of my walk thru. I recommend you advocate for yourself for the amount of money they are receiving there should be better quality consumer service.

We went through 4 sales people & 3 different finance people. Promises were made that weren’t backed up or fulfilled. It was a fight to even get ahold of anyone to speak to most of the time. Our final sales person, Jessica was excellent, as was our final finance person, Meghan. Gary, our super was great too but by the time they came around we were already frustrated and fed up since it was late in the process. We are moved in now and there are a bunch of cosmetic issues that still need to be fixed, as well as functional issues like the windows not being square. The sod for the yard was laid without any proper preparation so the grass has mostly died. The back yard has a divot that just collects and pulls water. The salesman was excellent, but I'm having too many issues with the house and having difficulty getting them resolved.

Withholding of information regarding the homes status and buying process was blatant . Materials in the home are not sturdy and already breaking. Cant withhold weight.

There is just to many things to itemized. The house upon completion looked like it was completed with out supervision. To the point that when I was on the final walk through there was a picture of a Man's Private Part drawn on the Garage wall and it was unseen by the project manager. Then they ask you repeatedly if you can give them 10's on the Construction manager survey over and over even though they know it is not deserved but you feel compelled to or the stuff you need fixed in you newly bought home will not get fixed or it will be done with a grudge. I do not plan on getting another KB home after this experience and I am telling everyone I know that even if they can find a home that is smaller but cost more than a KB home go with the smoller home that is better quality. All you get with KB is more sqft for the price. But then you have to question what problems am I going to have to deal with after I get in the home because the home was so poorly built. ... More

My experience with KB Home has not been good. First, our closing date kept being moved. This cost us more money for rental trailer. We drove to Texas from Los Angeles expecting to enter a "move-in ready" home. It was far from ready for anyone to move in! Our Toilet was not attached in one bathroom and the times underneath were all broken from someone apparently working on it. Our second bathroom had a sign on the Toilet that said "do not use". Our tile floor was a mess! There are chips in many of the times. The times are uneven and unevenly spaces along with slopes in the living room. All of the base board needed to be repainted. Our venta were put in wrong and the ceiling was cut to large to fit the venta it, but no one fixed it so we had gaps in the ceiling and extra nail holes. Some of the Doors including the front door did not close correctly. The backyard was full of trash. It also had an area that was sinking. I could go on and on about all of the issues, but I believe you get the point. I wrote emails with pictures to the corporate office and they responded quickly. However, we have been in the home for almost two months and we still have people coming to fix issues. If I would have known about the quality of work I would have gone with a different builder. I reported the sliding door is damaged and installed backwards, someone came to look at it and I never heard from anyone again. I had an access panel to space under the stairwell installed and found it was completely full of scrap sheet rock. That just screams we don’t car … why not properly discard scraps instead of leaving them hidden in my house, what else is hidden in my house? I dare not look in the attic. Overall the workmanship in my opinion lacks pride. My opinion has gone down since I moved in.

Finance through the entire process was a nightmare, zero communication. I’m a first time buyer and they just uploaded more and more documents with ZERO explanation of what I was supposed to be signing. Finally after a very serious email threatening to back out of the entire thing someone reached out to me and basically told me they just need me to sign, It’s not really important stuff right now, when it is they’ll explain it. Keep in mind these are all financial documents. I put my earnest money down Jan 29th, on a “move in ready” home, my closing was listed as end of march. After pushing it out a week at a time with no updates I finally closed may 5th. Final items on construction list were done hastily and some had to be redone multiple times. Very little work done all of feb or march. Bulk done in April and with most getting finished the final 2 weeks. The entire process had me wanting to back out but I felt like there wasn’t really a better option financially. It was the best price for the size I needed including preowned homes. My lease was ending and I had put all my faith into this endeavor. They had to call in Mario, a different construction supervisor the last two weeks because of how unhappy I was, it is because of him that I went through with it. He communicated and actually explained the delays and seemed like he knew what he was talking about. I closed with only 4 days to move myself from my 2300 sq ft rental and have it inspection ready. Things still need to be fixed that weren’t caught during the final walk. There was a hold up with the electric company that prevented me from switching services for an entire month. I don’t believe the caulk that the painters used during touch up was the right kind or maybe because they painted over it immediately all the paint cracked and it does not look like the what I expected from a BRAND NEW 300k+ home. Most touch ups look like the landlord special. They told me they would do a courtesy paint touch up after everything was moved in. I basically declined it because I had to unpack after work every day and after a month I’m still not done, and after seeing how the last touch up went I’ll just take care of it myself. Flat paint was used throughout the entire house and I was told if you get something on the wall don’t try to wipe it off just paint over it or you’ll rub off the texture. Our sales person Anthony was great. Brian from construction was very helpful in getting our home finished Lionel loan officer helped us through tremendously. Underwriting needs a new team with compassion towards homebuyers.

Should had built with another builder in different neighborhood.

The quality of the work and materials are subpar. Poor craftsmanship and attention to detail. Generally sloppy and unsafe at points. They rush the builds using the cheapest subcontractors and it shows. Thoroughly disappointed.

Workman ship sub par, Look at long wait times as in days to get anything fix. New homes look good after a month thing get noticed that are not done or falling apart. Issues brought to builder and nothing gets fixed. Would not recommend KBH do to price and pore build quality. Customer service 3 out of 10 they do nothing.

The reasons for my low scores are the finish quality of the house, the last sales rep experience, not being able to do a change order, and the lack of response to finish with the remaining issues with the house after living in the home for almost two months now. The lender experience was the best part; working with Lionel was truly helpful. The studio was also fun, and the only downside was not being able to make a change request even though it took over a year for the house to be done. The biggest issues I had were with my sales rep and the complete quality of the home. I had three different sales reps, and the last one was the worse. Joshua was never on the same page with the construction manager and didn't provide any updates for me. I had to reach out on my own. The completion date kept getting pushed back, and I needed to sign on the house to not lose my rate without the house being done. I was ok with that; only once that happened, I wasn't able to do a walk-through, and there were still many issues with the house after being in the house for almost two months. The construction manager Tony was at first responsive, but once the survey results came through and after a month, he ghosted me. The new customer service rep has come through to see what needs to be done but has yet to send anyone on the team to finish the painting, finish my cabinets, chalking, etc. I'm glad I did a separate inspection because I had leaking issues, the heater wasn't working, the main bathroom was clogged with construction debris, and a lot of other things that they pointed out for me. ... This home buying experience has been horrible and frustrating. The quality of workmanship has been poor. I have been in the house for almost 2 months. I’m on the third week of the kitchen island being rebuilt due to it not being level or square. I have a sink hole that keeps forming in the front yard. Some cabinets are cracked and need to be replaced. Plus a list of other issues. Contractors are not showing up to fix issues on days they are supposed to wasting my wife’s and I’s time. At this time I cannot recommend going with KB Homes.

If we didn't call every few days we would have not know any info about our house. We had to stay on top of our build to make sure things were done correctly

Overall quality issues is the main concern

If it was up to KB Homes we wouldn't be having this review, because they denied us. Thanks be to our God and his excellent greatness we went with another lender (Directions Home Loans) and got approved. We were advised that KB even questioned them for approving us. With the building my wife and I came by almost every weekend Saturday or Sunday after church or both. We watched houses being worked on and no one working on ours. We saw houses that came up after ours and get driveways poured before us. It seemed as if that didn't care or just get this over with type work ethic. We had a few projected move in dates but when we did get in the builder promised to make it all right and he has been true to his word. It's been over a month and every week contractors have been in and out repainting, replaced broke windows, realine crooked cabinets, repair damaged walls and door frames, fixtures etc.. Clean spills on carpet and floors, replace chipped and missing brick, waiting on back ordered parts... Things we picked out to go in the house; something's, what you see is not what you get! But they don't tell you until you question the builder where is this or that and they tell you it doesn't come like what they showed you. I bad part of it all is, this is suppose to be a exciting and joyous occacion, though they can't take away the joy and fact of God blessing us with the house, when I look at my wife's face and I don't see the glo, joy, excitement etc., but discuss, frustration, disappointment, that's what hurts the most!
