Poor craftsmanship

  • Troy T.
  • Verified HomeBuyer
  • October 19, 2021
  • Noblesville, IN

There were several items that had not been completed by the time of closing and several more issues once we moved in. We have now been in our house 4 months and are still experiencing issues. I feel that Lennar is now more about quantity than quality.

Lennar responded:
Hi Troy, thank you for this review. We are disappointed to hear about the incomplete items in your home at the time of closing. We would like to apologize for the frustration this caused for you and would like to do anything we can to help. If you have any outstanding items requiring attention, please send us a message at corporatecustomercare@lennar.com. - Lennar Customer Care

Poor finish work

Quality of finish work is sub par , paint finish and quality is straight garbage. Your contact to repair this is overworked and doesn’t have the time to be helping with repairs. This should be put on the trades.

Lennar responded:
Hi John, thank you for writing a review. We would like to apologize for the frustrations you experienced with finish quality in your new home. Once the buying process was completed - Lennar has not upheld the convenance & restrictions of the neighborhood. They don't hold trades accountable for their lack of performance. And the property management team is lacking. It would help if tasks were completed successfully the first time instead of making promises that issues/concerns will get better.

Lennar responded:
Hi Loretta, thank you for taking time to write a review. We would like to apologize for the items you've outlined, especially the lack of follow-up from Customer Care. Was led to believe incorrect information and poor follow through with problems

  • John H.

First, when we requested for an independent inspection, the time scheduled was changed and then work continued before the inspection was done. When non-code items were found, the builder tried to state that they were within code and our inspector had to send them the code for them to change it. Even after this code notice, we have noticed that our neighbors' houses have outside electric covers has not been changed. It almost seem to tell us that unless one complains or point out a problem that only that person's problem will be solved, instead of every house built there after. Also, ...

I'm very very disappointed

  • Matthew P.

The process started well. At the time of closing, the quality of the home "appeared" to be what we expected. We put a great deal of trust in the builder on delivering a house that was as advertised and a high quality of work. But within the first several days and weeks it became apparent there were a number of "quality" related issues that went beyond aesthetics and were fundamentally wrong. Issues ranging from faulty appliances to poorly designed/engineered duct work to improper placement of fire/smoke alarms. It has been over five months of taking two steps forward and two steps back ...

Terrible workmanship. A lot of switcheroos.

The person who sold us the home told us many false things to make the sale. There are a lot of things that were changed out during the process to a lower quality. However, our house price did not change. The quality is awful and we have had to spend the first 60 days reaching out to Airtron, GE, Lennar, etc. to get things fixed. Not very enjoyable when you’re trying to move into a house and unpack boxes. The sad thing is we have plenty more, that will be done at the 12 month mark. This is the third house that we have built and has been by far our worst experience.

Lennar responded:
Good afternoon Julie, thank you for your sincere review. We sincerely apologize for the issues you experienced with your home and for any delays in resolving them. I have shared your comments with upper management for further review. Sincerely, Lennar Corporate Customer Care

Lowest quality home we've ever lived in

While the people that work at Lennar have been nice and ok to work with, the quality of the home simply is not there -- especially for the price. This is hands down the lowest quality home we have ever lived in despite it being the most expensive we have ever purchased. If there was a cheaper material to be purchased or a corner that could be cut, Lennar took it. Sadly we are not happy in our brand new home and do not recommend purchasing from Lennar.

Lennar responded:
Good afternoon Matthew, we are sorry to hear the quality of your home did not meet your expectations.
We hope to be able to offer you a good homeowner's experience. If there are any general questions or warrantable issues, please do not hesitate to contact us by submitting a warranty request online through your Lennar Account. This ensures your request is documented and prioritized for a quick resolution. Sincerely, Lennar Corporate Customer Care

Beautiful homes with terrible finishes! There is no attention to detail. The skill level of the workers working on these homes is not great, to say the least. The drywall, paint and trimwork are the worst finishes. Lennar should have a better oversight of their contractors/subcontractors/sub-subcontractors. I hope this helps a potential buyer decide.

What would I like other homebuyers to know about our experience... remove any emotion for the initial decision-making process and talk to the people that currently live in the development that you are looking at. If we would have done that, we probably would not have purchased the house that we did. Multiple people in our community have experienced or are experiencing what we are going through with the lack of workmanship, pride in their product, and responsiveness to issues. This was evident with the lack of communication and responsiveness through the building process, not having ...

Unprofessional and poor quality

Overall, the building experience was very unprofessional and done with poor quality. There were several damages on the bathtub, refrigerator, dirt that was not cleaned, almost all kitchen cabinet doors were damaged and poorly repainted. There had to be constant pressure on them for it to be done correctly. Poor craftsmanship was present. They pushed that they be paid even when the unit was not ready.

I have not had a good experience at all. First they will send a very strick/condescending message that this has to be done in a week - this and that. When on says I will back off, they become very polite again. They push and force their lending agency. The Lennar title add some bloated changes the day of closing and then called a week later for some other bloated charge that they wanted to collect more. So, overall I feel I cannot trust them.

Lennar has absolutely no control, whatsoever, over their subs who eat food and leave food scraps on the floor, ketchup on the new woodwork, and the paint sub dragged their muddy boots all over the brand new carpet at the most critical time just days before closing. Lennar, however, would not do a complete carpet replacement, even though those same boots made God only knows how many trips across the street to the disgusting disease-ridden port-a-let. The finish workmanship was the worst I have ever seen in 40 years of purchasing new homes. The finish workers (literally) nailed trim boards ...

I’m not happy with lennar’s policies. First they show me different color when house get ready then it’s color was totally different which I doesn’t like. Their designs I doesn’t like. Inside of the house is also very basic. And house construction material is very cheap. And my real estate agent is super rude, very unprofessional and very short tempered. It’s unfortunate to be writing this review. I can’t believe all the horror stories we heard prior to buying are actually true. We received some very last minute bad surprises on closing day. Thankfully our agent fought for us and got us some relief so we could still close. The quality of everything installed was also extremely poor. Without going too much into details, I will not recommend this company.

I had to backout before closing due to medical emergency costing lots of money and requiring me to keep emergency funds. I understand it was a contract but 6000$ earnest money is a big amount that I had to lose. Lennar sold that home to someone else fairly quickly. Lennar gave me option to use that earnest money within 6 months but not sure if I will be buying home from lennar again.

This is our third brand new home and we’ve been consistently disappointed with the quality of the Lennar home. Cheap carpet, no handles on any cabinets, dirty when we moved in, cabinets hung so high that the top shelves are unreachable (we’ve never had cabinets that were placed so oddly high), extremely loud furnace in the middle of the home. Zero stars. Disappointed buyer.
