Pulte Homes - Overall nice home but they do not allow for ANY customization

Overall nice home but they do not allow for ANY customization which is a significant disappointment considering how expensive these homes are. They have a decent selection of finishes, but upgrades are costly from base selection and even basic items are costly to upgrade. Overall feel of house is nice and would only change a few things like increase the size of the garage and adjust layout of the basement if the builder would allow. Absolutely avoid Pulte Mortgage at all costs.

Had some major issues prior to closing. Gave Pulte more then a month of heads up. Was told it will be taken care of. It of course was not done prior to closing. Now months after moving in still dealing with people coming in and out getting things done. Not talking about punch list, paint areas type of items. Major headache for something that could have been addressed prior to me moving in. Pulte is doing what they said they would but I am having to constantly remind and send emails to ensure that things get done. I am having to project manage basically and stay on top of things which ...

Should have been a detailed clean up on trim inside, siding outside before painting. Outside siding and trim needs another coat all over. Some parts aren’t even painted. (Bottom of siding, and only 1 coat on trim, so you can still see it needs another

Should have 3 total walk throughs. Because when work isn’t done at 2nd walk through...and you are heading to closing, it puts you in a bind.

I still don’t have a mailbox! I was told it would be about 3 weeks. It is now 2 months. They put up a temporary but the post office will not deliver. I have to go to the post office to get my mail. I called but still no resolve.

Lack of quality control

This is the second home my wife and I have constructed in Indiana and the fifth home owned. Overall, there has been a lack of quality control and attention to detail during the construction process. Following are examples - Dishwasher was either defective or installed incorrectly. The result was the soaking of the subfloor of the kitchen. The level of damage required a water restoration company to come to the house to remedy. The process is ongoing and may require disassembly of the cabinets. Landscapers have cracked sidewalk and driveway while operating a bulldozer. In the building process, ...

Maybe we got unlucky with the contractors who build our house. The workmanship did not meet our expectations for the price of the home. The build team was hard to reach and not very responsive, there were several framing issues with the home that you wouldn’t expect from a home in this price range. Landscaping was not maintained before taking ownership and the sod in the front yard is mostly dead, drainage was not considered when landscaping so anytime it rains mulch is misplaced throughout the yard. The sliding door is difficult to open and the frame surrounding it is clearly sagging. The ...

Poor workmanship, health risks ignored, warranty issues

My experience building my first new home has been deeply frustrating. A major leak above the furnace caused severe mold growth, clearly pre-existing before closing. Neither the construction manager nor the warranty team caught it. Despite the mold’s presence, the warranty personnel refused air quality or mold testing, dismissing concerns based solely on photos. I’ve had to pay for testing myself to protect my family’s health. Other issues, like cold drafts through outlets and wall dripping, are brushed off as ‘normal.’ The warranty team refuses to investigate insulation or ensure the home ...

These town homes are thrown together pretty fast. The garage walls do not get full dry wall coverage. We noticed water damage when we were conducting a walk through which was minor at the time turned out to be a leak in one of the walls which was causing water to pool under the downstairs flooring causing damage to about all of our lower cabinets and trim we are well within our warranty so they are going to replace everything. Idk these are not forever homes so I guess I should have lower expectations. We will be moving once we get it together.

Mixed Experience with Pulte Homes: Buyer Beware of Unfinished Details and Maintenance Delays

My experience with purchasing a spec home from Pulte Homes has been mixed. Initially, the salesperson who assisted me was very pleasant and helpful throughout the buying process, which was reassuring. However, upon moving into the house, I encountered several issues that have been frustrating to deal with. One of the most surprising discoveries was that the kitchen exhaust was not installed. When I raised this concern, I was informed that it wasn't included in the specifications for the home. Frankly, I find it hard to believe that any modern home would be built without such a basic ...

Love our community and home not impressed with quality

We love the Cardinal Point Community and lifestyle associated with it. Our home plan is perfect for us however the quality is not what it should be for the price paid. We have been told we can't request service unless it is something major so we are living with sticking doors, uneven paint, poor drywall finish (garage is atrocious), cracking driveway among other issues.

Once they have your money they are very unresponsive and do not stand behind even their stated timeframes. As an example when you enter a ticket they will “get back to you within 24-48 hours”. Often it is weeks and sometimes not at all. As this is my second Pulte build I thought the first was “COVID related”. It is not. They don’t respect your time, or your property. Very disappointed with customer service and lack of care once the property is sold.

Too many issues for a new home

The quality we were expecting from Pulte and this price point for this home just was not there. We should not be having all these issues. Future home buyers definitely spend the money to get your own inspector. That was our big mistake. You want to be excited about purchasing a new home. It’s stressful enough just moving, but add on the back and forth process trying to get major things fixed on your new home is another level of stress. The sense of urgency is lacking and the builder should have caught these problems during the build process. At this time we are filled with regrets towards ...

Pulte's finishes are weak at best. Their finishing work is suspect and truly they use low-grade products and market them as high-end finishes. If you love the neighborhood and location, just get a bottom-end house from them and have a contractor come in and do the upgrades. You'll pay less and actually get some qualified contractors to do solid work.

Once home is signed for Pultie s very slow to respond to home issues let along give direction on how to get things fixed. Been here 7 weeks and still no back yard. Pultie won’t come and fix things, like painting, leftover blue tape for 10 months! No one wants to take responsibility for home issues, granted they are little but paying what we did for a home we shouldn’t be treated this way.

Review for Pulte Hilltop Closing

  • David B.

Andy and Ryan were phenomenal as Project Manager/Sales Rep. The trades were beyond horrible with craftmanship and response times. Crooked drywall, crooked cabinets, crooked countertops, and crooked door trim and frames awaited me everywhere on the day of my closing. During the build, the trades were scheduled for a certain day and/or time, which was relayed to me by Andy, but when I would check on the house, that particular item was not completed. Sometimes the delay was a week, sometimes the delay was a month. The trades would also have a punch list of five items that I would present to ...
