This was our first time buying a house and our rep, Jessica, was so responsive and helpful! We were in quite the time crunch, and she went out of her way to make sure we were able to finish on time. The quality of the house is definitely above standard compared to other builders in the areas we've been looking at, especially for the price. Its easy to go online and find negative reviews or complaints for any builder, but its hard to find compliments. I wholeheartedly recommend Richmond--especially to anyone on the fence!

I recently purchased a $712,000 home from Richmond American Homes, and my experience has been frustrating and disappointing. Before closing, I was promised four sets of keys, but on the closing day, I was only given two. When I raised the issue with the sales associate, Jmir, he was dismissive and unhelpful, repeatedly insisting that I received all four keys instead of addressing the mistake. Fortunately, the sales coordinator, Genya, was professional and tried to help. She arranged for the superintendent to deliver the missing keys, but instead of providing them, he insultingly handed me $5. I refused because this was never about the money—it was about the safety of my home. I purchased a $712,000 house. Do you think I care about $5 to copy a key? No, I don’t. This was a security issue, and it should have been handled with urgency and professionalism. To make things worse, the superintendent started lecturing me on how to copy a key at a store. This was not helpful or relevant—it felt like he was undermining my concerns and being disrespectful. In my opinion, he knows exactly what happened to my missing keys and is trying to cover it up. This level of unprofessionalism and disregard for customer concerns is unacceptable. While I appreciate Genya’s efforts, the overall experience with Richmond American Homes has been frustrating and disappointing. I expected better service from a company of this stature. Absolutely the worst experience of my life working with the builders selling agent.

Lots of issues that needed to be addressed during the initial walk through. Poor quality craftsmanship with little detail to the finishing touches for a house that cost so much money. They scheduled a final walk through and lied to us saying that the majority of our initial issues had been addressed. Only for us to realize they had not addressed even half the issues. When we asked for another final walk through, as not much had changed from the initial walk through, they said no. Additionally, closing was rushed so they could meet their quota. We live in a different state and they set a date for closing and then changed it last minute. And they demanded the closing be pushed from a Monday to Friday of the same week, but refused to let us reschedule it for even following week, because they needed to meet their quota. Even though the closing was pushed because they had issues finishing the build. On top of that, they threatened us with late closing fees if we wanted to reschedule the closing for the following week. As mentioned earlier, we live in a different state and had already arranged our schedule to be there on Monday and weren’t able to take off work the week of (which is when we were told that closing was being rescheduled) and arrange an out of state trip. Our experience up to the that point had been great. But the way the walk through and closing were handled was very unprofessional and off putting. All carpets had nails sticking out, all my doors are damage from the bottom, the silicone in my shower was not done right very sloppy work, all my kitchen cabinets schatched, many of my outlets are not on correctly, the paint job in this job is hideous, oh my wall isn’t straight. Whenever I vaccumm my electric goes out ( and was told that’s normal yeah noo) I just pray my ac and gas were installed correctly. Honestly I feel bad that I have no nice things to say but, it’s so frustrating that seems like every was done in a hurry and with do respect to the house or any care. Everything has been wonderful. Frank in sales was personable, responsive, and very easy to work with. The sale itself went so smoothly and was much easier than this first time home owner expected. I'm absolutely in love with my new home!!

I could not be more pleased with the purchase of our new home . Katrina was exceptional with updates and what was going on when the house was being built and after ownership Gayle and Jeremy have been exceptional with getting the little things taken care of . This was our first home purchase and I could not ask for a better team to help me and my family through the process of buying an home , and after taking ownership.

Great floor plan. We did not pick the extra's but good choices were made on most items.

Viewing the home was a good experience before we closed but when it came time to do the walk throughs and reporting issues there is no urgency or even fixing all the issues in a timely manner even after filling out a request on the portal.

Hold them to dates they promise and have an external inspector to find all the issues behind the walls and electrical.

I appreciate the overall quality and value of my recent purchase with Richmond American Homes. The neighborhood is quiet and I love the mountain view’s and easy access for my mountain biking trails.

We love the town that we are in and the neighborhood. Our sales rep was fantastic, as was the loan officer. However, we were pressured by “corporate” to move up our closing date to meet “their” quarterly sales goals…..which meant that the actual construction crews had to “rush” to finish our home. You can tell by the finish work and attention to detail. (Paint quality is terrible, caulking on countertops is sloppy, contouring of front yard is shoddy, drywall and texture around bathroom light fixtures was sloppy, it was obvious that everything noted issue on the walkthrough was “rushed” to make closing happen….and after talking with other neighbors, I doubt they will be corrected at the one year walk through. We were told of their experience with Richmond, “ that once they sell you your home, good luck getting any response from them…..”We’ll see, I have faith that we will….. ... More

Our experience was easy, quick, honest, and transparent with everyone at Richmond Homes! Everything was seamless and any issues we’ve had since moving in they have been very responsive to fixing. Highly recommend!

Experience with the Builder Superintendent Was Not Good

When we walked in to look at some town homes, we didn’t know the quality of service Richmond f American Homes was prepared to offer. From showing us the homes we immediately looked at to taking us to other properties that were available, Oliver was friendly, flexible, and determined to show us just how great a deal with Richmond American Homes would be. When it came to working through the pre-qualifying and financing process, Judd was incredibly patient and skilled in getting the best situation for our family. Had a few minor details with the new home, they were taken care off but still waiting on some issues. Water pressure upstairs bathrooms very low need improvement on that. Outside HOA hadn’t taken care of couple of dead plants and sprinklers hoses sticking out of the ground. It needs mulching and trash debri cleaned up

The home that we purchased is already built and too many issues we are dealing with and it’s been a month since we moved in. A/C was not working, had to call the maintenance to repair after 2 days of moving i , water leaking from the roof, scratches in the window.

Susan was amazing to work with. She was extremely responsive to all my questions and if she didn’t know the answer she would find the answer and get back with me with in the day. She stayed in touch with me throughout the complete process.

We had an amazing experience that went so smoothly! The whole team at Richmond was so great to work with! Jason was so great about answering questions and being so nice. Luke helped us with our walkthrough, he was very thorough and went above and beyond. Overall, an outstanding team and we had so much fun!

Good overall, just underwriting conditions was exaggerated. I will recommend the company.

There were multiple issues with this experience. Some minor and some major. While the floorplan had some great points, it also has some detractors. The master bedroom door to the bathroom opening to the same space as the shower door so they can’t be opened concurrently was a gross oversight. We will likely need to change the shower door or the door to the master bath to a barn door. Front door is only 32 inches. No person with a wheelchair could buy or live in this house without modification. The placement of the handrail on the steps to the front door removes 4 inches of usable space on the steps. The patio was on average 20 inches above grade but the company cheaped out and did not put any sort of steps from the patio to the ground. There is certainly a risk of injury trying to go up and down. There was a lot of construction debris left on the lot and in the crawl space. Approximately 20 items submitted on the 30 day warranty request. The most egregious was that the appraiser appears to have been in the pocket of the builder. My realtor did due diligence on comps and was able to show the house was over valued in the appraisal based on other closings of the exact same model in the neighborhood. The appraiser used none of the comps but instead used future closings not closed by and comps 7 miles away, not current relevant closings. Worst diligence in appraisal ever. This is not the fiirst house I have ever bought. Richmond refused to even consider it. The only reason we closed was so as to not lose the earnest money. This was a VA loan and this appraiser was VA approved. The issue was taken up with the VA and they made excuses for him. There is no doubt this appraiser was in the tank for the builder. ... More

Our house was built very fast. Because of the speed of the build, some details were glossed over. Window trim drywall is wavy around the windows. The painters that were used to paint our house are pretty bad. Many parts of the house had to be re-painted due to poor quality. The painters left a lot of paint spots on the floors and did not appear to use drop clothes while painting. The other problem is that they spread caulk and drywall on the carpet that I have been cleaning up. The ceiling drywall is wavy. Many parts of the house are finished with poor materials. 50 % of our door handles in our home were installed upside down. Some of the doors were damaged or installed with deep scratches on them. The cabinet quality is meh. The model homes are COMPLETELY different in terms of representation of what you are getting in a Richmond American Home. It would have been nice to have some choices while the home was being built. We will probably be ripping a lot of things out and replacing them with quality materials in the future. I would probably not recommend these homes. The way the building went it makes me wonder what else was overlooked/ shortcuts/ sloppy workmanship occurred in the house? ... More

Great experience with associates when I had questions

Richmond Homes was our first experience purchasing a home, and overall, it was excellent. Our sales associate, Myesha, was highly knowledgeable and guided us through every step required for the purchase of the new home. She was always available to answer our questions, and we felt confident knowing we were in capable hands. After closing escrow and receiving the keys, we had the opportunity to meet Jerry and Rigo. They provided a detailed walkthrough of the home, pointing out any flaws they had already identified and initiated work orders for. They also explained the warranties and maintenance requirements for various materials in the home. When we later noticed a few additional issues with the craftsmanship, they were quick to assist, either addressing the concerns directly or placing work orders for repairs. The team at Richmond Homes exceeded our expectations with their dedication and continued to provide exceptional customer service even months after we settled into our new home. ... More
