The process was amazing! We are enjoying our beautiful new home. It almost perfect. There are a few issues that still need to be addressed and it takes a long time to get a response back and to actually get them fixed. The trades could do a better job at paying attention to details so that we could avoid having to fix things.

From start to finish the builder deserves 4 stars. I used their lender for the special rate on the table and they were fantastic, title company amazing, and most people friendly. Sales made some misleading or unknowledgeable wrong answers and there have been a few hiccups with warranty. That said, overall I’m incredibly happy with the home and time will tell on the long term quality. I was very disappointed the builder didn’t allow option selection but ultimately found my ideal lot and the color scheme I wanted. For me the finish work before moving in was not good. The attention to detail was poor as we had to have cabinets re worked patch work and painting still in progress and cleaning before move in was very poor. Still waiting for work on the fence and gate and paint repair on facia board. I know we have a year to get all these things corrected but who ever is responsible for making sure everything is in order should slow down and take more pride in the finished product as this represents Richmond Homes.

Repair issues

During the punch walk , we found issues and later some of the things were fixed but not all, had to wait a month because the kitchen drawer was never attached and my mom fell back and hurt herself, another was the kitchen knob, all has been resolved except for the dead tree on the front yard, that should’ve been and still should be replaced by Richmond, but myself and kids love our new home.

After a change in construction Foreman’s I noticed a huge change in customer service. The new foreman Paul was extremely helpful with concerns or questions. He was also very good at communicating what could and could not be done for small discrepancies we notice during the building process. Paul made the rest of the experience much better. Unfortunately we felt the lender was not as responsive as we’d like. It seems there was little to no communication between the builder, lender and sales team. The overall buying experience was great. Some minor issues with communication but that was fixed. The one thing bothering me now is I have submitted a work order of the things not fixed from the final walk through and now 30+ days. I still have not heard from anyone to come and fix these issues. My dishwasher currently does not work and has not worked since day 1.

This is my second home, but first time with Richmond. Sales representative is great. I appreciate Brad for his prompt replies and sharing progress every week. Construction manager was responsive to the issues reported to him with immediate actions. I am yet to evaluate with the warranty guys as I will need them very soon for the recently discovered construction issues. Overall not a bad experience but could have been better if Richmond had a better policy about after sales and service. This is not people problem, but the Company policy. Problem:. Sales representatives, Chris, helps us a lot, and very responsible. Location is good and some of house design is good. The building workers are bad, quality of overall finishing is poor, finding a lot of small issues after move in . Warranty service is bad.

I think quality on products in house could be better than what you represent in retail numbers you have a huge buying power for your products. If you don’t do any upgrades the quality of material used is very cheap. A lot of simple mistakes are made. Seems like they rush through the process of building these houses. In our experience we had a leak, excess foundation, solar panel box put on wrong, flooring was scratched, carpet was lumpy and you could see the seems, breakers tripping and paint that needed to be redone. They give you a matte finish which scratches and stains very easily. Overall I am happy with my home, just wish everything was done right from the start. This is difficult because not every team should be grouped into a rating whereby their performance and responsiveness is tallied with other groups that do not meet a certain standard. The volume that each team has to handle and move production through the process should not be measured collectively nor grouped with another team whose standards fall short of client expectations. It sounds frustrating that the promised gutter and other items weren't addressed before closing. I have contacted the superintendent to express my concerns and inquire about getting these issues resolved. Nothing has been done yet.

This was my FIRST home buying experience and it went fairly easily. The sales team was exceptional, the loan team was okay, the building team was also fine. The loan team had some gaps in communication throughout the process due to their volume of applicants. The construction team also felt pressed for time and breezed through the inspection but they completed most of the adjustments.
