Tried contacting Homewaranty for issue with pin holes in the floor grouting all over my new home, I acknowledge of being a Holiday weeks and was given 10 working days for replies until up to date. No respond from the Honewaranty and we're unable to properly moved my furniture until the grout problems is resolved.. POOR RESPONS FROM RICHMOND AMERICAN TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUES.. Also after 5 days of occupying my homes without my furnitures the AC system went down with issues with the equipment. REPRESENTATIVE I TALK WITH TRY TO BLAME ME FOR THE PROBLEM SHE SAYS THAT BECAUSE INFAILED TO CHANGE THE AC FILTERS,WICH I WAS TOLD BY THE PROPERTY MANAGER TO REPLACE IT 1 TO 2 MONTHS AFTER WE MOVED IN JUST FOR PRECAUTIONS.. Responsive, great piece of customer care

Had a lousy time dealing with the underwriters very lengthy plus the loan process equally, the home came with no ceiling fans or garage door openers or outside garage lighting and needed quite a few touch ups. Block wall had a big gap on corner back yard.and they used flat paint on most of the house except bathrooms

I’ve never bought a home by myself and American homes made the experience easy and simple. Very friendly and thorough. Answered every question I had. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Beware be ready for a cheapest paper quality home, forget the new home feeling and start learning to beg with builders team! None of the work is completed and now we have to be on hook to constant chasing builder teams, almost all points of the home including outside and inside are just cheap very hasty job and feels like I just bought a home from Dollar Store but paid premium as new home!

The whole process was met my expectations of a builder.

I loved the design of the house. However there was lot of things were not done before closing. They gave us bad walls, some walls they didn’t even finish painting, broken tiles with holes in the grout, bathroom tub has a big hole, light fixture broken, floodligh missing, roof was leaking when it start raining, the faucets are not properly sealed so the water drips down to the cabinet. Toilet paper dispenser they drilled a big nail. Big list. I bought the house I because I love the design. I know you guys take care of your customer, the supervisor David who build the house did a horrible job. I have to go through warranty to get things fixed. They forced us move when my wife was pregnant, I asked them if they can postponed the closing since the house is not done. They said NO. Very bad experience. But I am hopeful with the warranty. Listing out all the issues and horrible customer service we experienced would do nothing for anyone. So, save yourself the time and heartache and DO NOT BUY A RICHMOND AMERICAN HOME. Take your hard earned money and spend it somewhere else. All the reviews are true. Horrible craftsmanship, quality is cheap and customer services (after they take your money) is less than stellar. You've been warned. DON'T DO IT!

dealing with the insurance and mortgage folks was not the best

While everyone was “nice”, we had an overall horrible experience. From 3 different superintendents to a scam of an experience with Home American mortgage to endless lies and deception to over a month delay to then move in with electrical not working, 20 roof tiles broken, horrible craftsmanship to then no one caring and it taking weeks upon weeks to get responses until we went to corporate to now 2 months after we closed and still an outstanding list of 30+ issues with no resolution. Would avoid Richmond at all costs.

Desde el día uno que nos mudamos se nos va la corriente en la cocina se nos dañó todo lo d esa nevera hicimos el reporte y hasta hoy 12/31/2023 no han solucionado el problema sin decir que el piso tiene detalles la alfonbra de la escalera tiene pintura en los bordes las manillas absolutamente todas las tocaba y te quedaban en las manos allí la reglamos como pudimos ya que eso no puede esperar y lo podíamos hacer lo d de la electricidad se escapa de nuestras manos para resolverlo. Y la grama no la colocaron la tiraron por ende no está lisa está con muros ósea montaña pequeña y no hablar que cuesta que las pocetas o inodoros descarguen de forma eficiente realmente quería una casa pero no pensé que podía tener tantos problemas siendo nueva y lo peor es que no te ayudan a resolverlo el problema de electricidad es grave y aún así no han podido solucionar ... Overall, it's a nice home. Closing process felt rushed. We felt like we were just a house on the assembly line that they wanted to move on from. Lots of little issues. Nothing major was wrong. Getting the little issues takes time to resolve. It's good that we have a year to do it.

After closing warranty issue have been a problem we were informed two weeks they would walk through after move in and never happened I had to call to get that done 3 weeks after move in and still not one single warranty issue has been fixed so we are going on over a month after move in super frustrating and think it wouldn’t be that hard to get thing done with small issues!!

The salesman and construction super were great. But the subcontractors who actually did the work are sloppy and don’t have very much regard for the mess they leave for the new owners. There was paint spatter throughout the house, exposed holes in the wall and ceiling, appliance not installed correctly, sink fixture not installed correctly, and the backyard littered with construction debris (nails, broken roof tiles, paint dumped on the ground), and plenty of cigarette butts. Most of this will be corrected, but the backyard is the homeowner responsibility. It will be a beautiful home, but only after the homeowner identifies the shoddy work of the subcontractors. ... More

The people they hire to build your house do a terrible job, workmanship is horrible. Their models are built to detail and beautiful! Don’t expect your home will be built that way. Everything they give you has some sort of damage, from doors, door frames, floor molding, kitchen sinks, marble countertops, appliances,etc. Sprinklers they put in your yard are not properly done and they basically sit on top of your lawn. My advice run as fast as you can. Cause you’re going to have to spend thousands of dollars fixing stuff.

We had a good experience with Richmond American and the house we were provided with we like a great deal; we believe it meets our needs and expectations for the most part. Their customer service is impeccable, and all follow up and questions are addressed promptly. Yet, there are improvement areas in terms of attention to detail in the workmanship as well as the follow up of rollover items pre and post move-in that need to be addressed to make the experience great and completely satisfactory.

The overall financial part of buying was good. We put 5% down to start construction and did not need to pay anything more until closing, the time it took to complete the build ended up at what was originally scheduled. I feel the value of the house and land is good for the price paid. The quality of workmanship is very poor from the things I can see with my eyes. The drywall finishing is very substandard along with the interior/exterior painting. I had the idea that when you take possession of a newly built house it would be like a new car, everything sparkly, clean, nothing to do but enjoy it. Not the case with our house, although things have slowly been taken care of that were on the builders ‘To Do List’, we still have paining to be done, a dented dishwasher, missing door strike plates. ... My experience was very bad from the beginning. The seller deceived me into signing a contract and giving my deposit by offering things I did not received. When I brought it up to a management absolutely nothing was done. I moved into a home I am not happy with. I will give them a zero if I could, the whole process was very bad.

I'll start by saying this was the worst 1st time home buying experience for me and my wife. I feel completely misled from the get go when looking at the model home. I was told my home would look exactly like the model, when come to find out this was completely untrue. There were upgrades in the model home that cost additional and weren't mentioned to us until after we left a deposit. When we found out we weren't getting certain features we tried to back out and get our deposit back, the sales lady gladly mentioned if you back out, we keep your 11,000 deposit. Now would you feel trapped, who walks away from that kind of money? I almost did because the house we were stuck with did not look like the model home, no fireplace, only certain railing up the stairs and not all of it, a huge water heater UPSTAIRS in our laundry room which reduced the size of our master closet nothing like the size of the closet in the model home. I observed the house being built because there was no security onsite and I could literally walk in the house after hours any night of the week. They went through three super intendants so my house was built completely unsupervised which explains the low quality work in some areas. Because of lack of supervision, our closing date continued to get pushed out because delays with materials and deliveries affecting us the new home buyer. Items were broken as they were installed and repaired instead of replaced. Wait, I thought I was buying a NEW home not repaired.When escalating this up to the V P level, he took my call but was prepping for a fishing trip and didn't pay attention to my concerns. Monty mentioned he would return my call and never did and never answered my call after that, what kind of customer service is that, but you're quick to tell me I'm locked in a deal that I was misled into. If I could afford an attorney, I would have reported this company and tried to sue as I was bullied around and forced into buying a home I DID NOT WANT TO BUY!
