Recently purchased my home in October with initially looking at the model in May, 2025. I was excited about the style home, as there was nothing like it in the DMV area. We were not provided consistent communication during the entire process. We were always told our house would be ready at the end of October and then told two months before that our house would be ready a month early. We based the initial timeline on what was being told of to us multiple times. It caused a lot of headaches and then having to pay nearly 2 weeks of penalties having to push back our closing. I would definitely think twice about purchasing a home from them again and make sure I have everything in writing to protect myself. Workmanship is not up to par as other builders. Buying with Richmond homes was a really good experience, as you know, buying a home can be very stressful but the team at Richmond homes made it very easy and communicated all the way through the process, Francisco, Jennifer and Darcie were guiding us every step of the way through the process and got us through. My family is happy with the house. A+ experience.

Extremely pleased with the quality of our build, very nice standard features, thoughtful upgrades. Everyone that we dealt with was excellent, from the initial sales representative contact, through building supervisor and walk throughs, to the various members of the administrative team that handled all of our processing.

Our Sales Mgr Mike P was very responsive and supported our “remote” situation.

Lack of responsiveness to key workmanship issues. Some issues have been resolved but large number still open. Repair workers cause additional issues when they are here. All of my issues need to be addressed

-moved in missing air vent and exhaust fan in a bathroom -scuttle hole access to first floor attic is blocked by an engineered truss (no access) -toilet in primary water closet smells of septic and no on has come out to check after our request was made -walls are out of square (no tools needed to determine it’s that bad) -inspector notified Richmond team of TWO GAS LEAKS. We were promised this was remediated. Gas supplier had to come and turn off our gas because the subcontractor claims they were never notified and we slept our first night in the home smelling gas but not able to detect where the leak was or if we were being paranoid because the leaks were “fixed”. These items I’ve listed scratch the surface of our issues and dissatisfaction purchasing this home. I worked for Richmond American homes in Washington state while this home was being built for us. Not why you would expect for the price, quality issues everywhere.

I couldn't be happier with our new home at Morada. The attention to detail, and friendly service made the entire process smooth and enjoyable. It's a beautiful home in a wonderful neighborhood. Highly recommend it!!

From start meeting Arin and her assistance to my wife and I and even the recommendations to assist us to getting qualified was greatly appreciated. Even meeting the staff at Asher Landing that assist with any issues found after moving in, Grant is always very helpful.

I would like to express my concerns regarding the materials and design used in the construction of the new house. The materials chosen are of poor quality, and it appears that proper attention was not given to detail during the building process. Additionally, the overall design does not seem to have been carefully planned. For example, windows were not placed where they are most needed, resulting in areas of the house lacking natural light. In some rooms, the windows are too small to provide sufficient ventilation and daylight, which significantly affects both comfort and energy efficiency.

This has been quite the journey. I tried buying a house with Richmond for nearly ten months. Once I got the approval, they rushed through the process. I was railroaded on almost every front while trying to acquire an independent inspection. My experience with McKenna hasn't been ideal either. When we did my walk through, she tried to make some of the issues I noticed small. She also didn't write down all of the issues I mentioned, so she thought I believed her when she said she had mentioned it to the builder and the builder said it wasn't an issue. There were clear issues. What I didn't share with McKenna is I am not newbie. I have purchased a home before. That home had far fewer issues than this one. Not to mention that there are some items that were never corrected, and some warranty issues that haven't been resolved. ... More

The purchase of the home itself was not the issue; however, I encountered problems with the washer and dryer included in the sale. Upon moving in, I discovered that the dryer was dented, and I requested either a replacement or a credit for the damage. Additionally, the washer and dryer were not connected, even though the purchase agreement included a $2,000 charge for a washer and dryer that were to be installed and operational at the time of closing. This situation has left me feeling as though I purchased a used product rather than a brand new home. Furthermore, no extra paint was left for touch-ups, the overall experience has been disappointing given the expectations set during the purchase process. I respectfully request that Richmond credit me for the damaged dryer or provide a credit for the unit, and address the issue regarding the washer and dryer connection as specified in the purchase agreement. Richmond is the best! Everyone was very hard working, helpful, diligent, and kind. No question went unanswered and if there was a problem it got fixed. Couldn’t recommend this builder more! We have been in the house for 1 month and absolutely love it. Thank you Richmond America :)

Sales people were great…ever other part of the buying experience was not good.

The home buying process with Richmond was difficult. There was a lack of communication and hiding information across the board. The actual quality of the home is poor and the workers lied countless times about what they fixed before move in. Now I don’t receive any responses for requests to fix issues within the home, including ones they claimed were fixed. The mortgage company (because you are forced to use their mortgage company and insurance company if you want to use the credits) sold the mortgage without notifying me. The insurance company was deceitful as well they provided one quote and then the representative I was working with stopped responding and their colleague completely changed it. ... More

Richmond American delivers quality construction and impressive floor plans at very competitive prices. Some of the usual problems with quality of workmanship that are easily corrected with applied attention to detail. Staff is responsive and easy to work with. Very happy with all aspects of my purchase.

Great experience! Love my home so much! The sales agents were very kind and knowledgeable! Would recommend Richmond American homes over other builders in the area. Their level of construction is top tier and they offer really great floor plans that are hard to find else where!

Unfinished home upon closing and it's been a hassle to get anything fixed or finished in the 30 days since closing. Still waiting!

This is our 13th new home that we have purchased Over the past 59 years of marriage and the 2nd worse experience. The home wasn't even ready for move in even after closing. They even left the home dirty and dry wall dropping everywhere in the garage.

The sales rep, Jennifer, was a pleasure to work with! She answered our questions and messages at all times of the day. She went out of her way to assist us in this purchase. The site superintendent, Arnold, and his assistant were very responsive and professional to work with. They made sure things were corrected after the initial walk-through. Very much appreciated the on-site team for this development.

Richmond builds the exact same home differently (e.g., garage is finished in one, but not the next). Then they claim that code does not require it be finished. All of which may be true, but why am I be punished for making a down payment when the lot is released. Then my neighbor comes along gets the garage finished and pays less for their house. Only one example of how inconsistent and unprofessional Richmond can be.
