This was our first home purchase but not the first exposure to the home buying experience. A family member recently closed on a new construction from a different builder and it was a headache and total mess for them. We all know about the horror stories. Our expectations were low and we figured it’d be like pulling teeth to have any concerns addressed. This was not the case! We couldn’t be happier with our home. Jesse, Rex, and Chad at Desert Oasis II truly deserve to be recognized. Thank you gentlemen for our forever home. We will raise a family in our house and make lasting memories. This wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for the care and attention from start to finish. I am a detailed oriented person and was floored by the quality of craftsmanship that Jesse and Rex turned out on our home. We have had nothing but great things to say about Richmond American to our family and friends. Good plans! Workmanship is poor. And supervision of construction. Very poor. I still have issues that I need to now try to get fixed on my time. I’ll be by the grace of God to get these things done. Not to mention some of the main construction there’s issues. I still may have to take things up to the Better Business Bureau.

Overall my experience with Richmond American has been alright. In the beginning, my sales associate through Richmond Casey was great. He went down step by step through the process and what I would be needed to do and what I should expect throughout this process. He sold me on being very intuitive and putting a personal touch on all aspects of the home buying process and he'd be there will us every step of the way. Turns out 2 months before closing, Casey just ghosted us basically and left my wife and I to practically fend for ourselves. He should probably change his sales pitch. For all of our walk through, he no showed, no email, no text, no nothing about him not being there. When it came to closing, he never communicated to us via email. He'd call me and tell me he was working on things on the back end but nothing he was working on can true and when I asked him to email me everything we talked about so I had it in writing, he never sent it. I think my realtor and I asked Casey to put these things in writing 6-7 times and he never did. The only bright spot of things was the superintendent Justin. Justin was there for us during the walk throughs and closing period when Casey was not. Justin made sure any issues that we saw were taken care of or he scheduled someone to come out to fix those issues as soon as possible. He has communicated great and overall has been Richmond Americans saving grace for this review not being vastly worse. We love our home; we love the community and quality of the home with the materials it was used to build it. Probably the worst experience dealing with them to call back or follow up on items that need repairing. Would never buy a house from them. I moved in 3 months ago never got my repairs done from the first initial walk through. They said they where going to do a 30 follow I called them after 2 1/2 months. They came out and looked at the items from the first walk through and crickets again. Still waiting sucks when you spend 1/2 of million on a house and customer service sucks.

Sales people were somewhat helpful. Did not disclose some issues specific to lot. Home office was no help. Switched superintendents during construction. Pushed for an early close prior to year end yet haven't completed all punch items so can't use part of house

We did not go through the customizing so cannot speak to that. However, our experience throughout the purchase and after has been sad. We paid for an outside inspection, highly recommended, and had a huge report on a new home. The first site guy was terrible to work with then we got Chad. He helped move the process along but there were still a bunch of items that were never done properly before our close. Still waiting on cabinet repairs (3 months later) and it took a full on fight to use our "warranty" to fix a gas leak at the range. Jim at sales was very friendly and answered all the questions we had during our purchase.Jose the field supervisor was very helpful during the building process,noteverything was perfect but the response team was responsive

Overall experience was fine. Like all other homebuilders the craftsmanship of the subcontractors was lacking and we had to call them out on several things. The contractors who come to fix the problems do a good job though. I think there is a lot of pressure put on the subs to work quickly and so at some point they quit caring. Our house is nice and we love the floorplan but I wouldn't say it was an exceptional value.

Our overall experience was mixed, some people like our Super Intendent were terrific while others in Sales and Finance were not very good, being difficult to work with, getting details incorrect because it seemed like they did have time to focus on you or make sure Richmond appeared like a united company. Systems like the main drain were untested until we moved in, and turned out to be an issue that caused the company huge repairs. This is our second Richmond American home and the first one went a lot smoother and I feel was constructed with higher quality.

I like the house and quality of the work they done, but I had a bad experience with one of processor officer lack of communication regarding the paperwork, no response when we call and no retuning, overall I am very happy. Thank you for give me a chance to expression.

Very efficient on responding to emergency calls however the response to normal issues are too slow which is to the unacceptable level.

Everything was going good until we got close to the end of closing and we had an issue with Richmond lending team. We were easily approved and funded with our original lender and he pushed us to look into Richmond because of possible incentives so we did and decided to work with them. But 3 days before closing they came back and said we were not approved even though we signed and filled out all paperwork in the time leading up with no communication from them that we had an issue. Luckily we went back to my original lender and he got us approved and funded within 2 weeks. The whole process seems like their lending exam doesn’t want any business as what they did was unprofessional. And we have been in our home for a little over 60 days and we still have things within the home to be followed up on and finished and ave not heard from anyone from Richmond to get this done. Hey also provided us with a customer service number magnet for the fridge and it is basically worthless as nobody ever answers the phone nor do they call back if you leave a message. ... More

Had a lousy time dealing with the underwriters very lengthy plus the loan process equally, the home came with no ceiling fans or garage door openers or outside garage lighting and needed quite a few touch ups. Block wall had a big gap on corner back yard.and they used flat paint on most of the house except bathrooms

Overall, it's a nice home. Closing process felt rushed. We felt like we were just a house on the assembly line that they wanted to move on from. Lots of little issues. Nothing major was wrong. Getting the little issues takes time to resolve. It's good that we have a year to do it.

The salesman and construction super were great. But the subcontractors who actually did the work are sloppy and don’t have very much regard for the mess they leave for the new owners. There was paint spatter throughout the house, exposed holes in the wall and ceiling, appliance not installed correctly, sink fixture not installed correctly, and the backyard littered with construction debris (nails, broken roof tiles, paint dumped on the ground), and plenty of cigarette butts. Most of this will be corrected, but the backyard is the homeowner responsibility. It will be a beautiful home, but only after the homeowner identifies the shoddy work of the subcontractors. ... More

Nothing bad to say about the experience

The sales lady did fine and would always be helpful and made things easier. The first superintendent was terrible. Then you guys moved him to a different track which was a great idea. The guy who replaced him was much, much, much better (Mike). The tail end superintendent (Chris) was an absolute disaster. Everything was a hassle and all he would do would say he would get it done… but yet nothing would get done. The house starting out from concrete was already messed up. The framing was very shotty and showed poor skills to say the least. The finished concrete is awful. The trim is terrible. Extremely wavy and unskilled finish. Actually still missing pieces of trim in my house I’ve been living in for about a month now… which was supposed to be taken care of by Chris when we did a walk through. Speaking of the walk through I marked everything I wanted fixed with blue tape with Chris. Guess what happened. The blue tape got pulled off the wall with nothing fixed and even took some of the paint off the wall with the tape and still didn’t get fixed LOL… I still have textured wall patches that haven’t been painted. There is literally paint drips on EVERY SINGLE piece of tile in my master bathroom. (Black tile) so yes you can see it clear as day. The exterior paint had a lot of spots missed that Chris didn’t take care of. Some of my faucets aren’t installed correctly. A month in and I’m still missing a lightbulb for my secondary shower. The house was dirty when I moved in. My door bucks are getting pulled off the wall from the RV garage doors assuming the framers didn’t nail/ secure the door buck. It’s been almost nearly impossible to schedule things to get fixed with Chris which means I have to taken time off of work for things that should have been fixed before I moved in. Of course after I closed on the house nobody cares about the homeowner and are on to sell the next crappy built house. I am extremely disappointed with this experience with Richmond American homes. In a humble way of putting this. I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER Richmond home. And have been socially explaining to others about this experience. Now I have been working in the construction trade since i turned 18. I know everything isn’t gonna be perfect but this has been a complete nightmare. I hope someone reads this and personally try’s to make this fair. I will be reaching out to an inspector shortly to go over this house further and what he does with that information is up to him. Also just to add in, I was supposed to close on my house sooner then I did and I saw so many things wrong with the house I told them to push back the close date to help them out and apparently I got screwed either way even waiting longer to move in. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. I am sorry this message is so bad but it’s been extremely frustrating and stressful. Also would like to add in when discussing issues to Chris and the concrete super independent, i was told this is not a custom home so it won’t have the finish and quality of a custom home. Way to make a customer feel appreciated!! If i spend over half a million dollars on a house i would like to be treated with some dignity and respect.
