Kaitlin at the sales office and Kevin the super were great to deal with in buying my first home. They answered any questions I had and helped make the entire process very smooth and also very quick, from contract to close in less than 30 days!

The total experience with Richmond Homes has been a very disappointing and frankly a very unpleasant one. What is said and presented by the Sales Associate is not what you will get. You will find out that very cheap materials have been used, and very poor craftsmanship in construction of the home. Every time the shower and toilets are used on the second floor, the sound of the water coming down the pipes in the walls of the first floor is extremely loud and very annoying. The price of the home goes higher with additions given to you after you have placed your honest money for the downpayment later to discover you have been over charged for items that are standard in most homes. Once the mistakes are pointed out, they come back with a line, "my mother's house has the same thing installed" or "you can buy it at Home Depot and change it yourself" ... More

First time buying a home from Richmond but I can honestly say it won’t be my last one. Great builder and they are really helpful with fixing any issues that come up.

MY EXPERIENCE WAS TERRIBLE FROM THE BEGINNING TO THE END THEY TREATED ME IN THE WORST WAY IT WAS MY WORST NIGHTMARE I HAD NEVER BEEN THROUGH SOMETHING LIKE THIS MY CHILDREN ARE READY TO BUY A HOUSE AND I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO BUY WITH RICHMOND AMERICA HOMES STACY TREATED ME VERY BADLY I DON'T KNOW HOW SHE CAN WORK WITH PEOPLE SHE IS A RACIST.

We are now currently living in the community of Torrin and our buying experience went smoothly. We closed our escrow in less than 3 weeks. Wendy is one of the most accommodating and knowledgeable about the property and the community. Actually, I would say that we felt so welcome the first time that we visited to see the place. A great new neighborhood!

My wife and I worked with Shannon and purchasing our first home was full of great communication and an excellent price.

I have never felt so undervalued as a customer. We sought out this home in March of last year before construction had even started and attempted to make the whole process as easy as possible. We were flexible with all date changes and issues that came up, and throughout the entire time, we never felt like we were a priority. It was extremely disheartening as a military family who had to move across the country for our dream home to face many hurdles and issues in this home-buying process, along with the extreme rudeness and lack of help by the closing director (Amy) who seemed like we were nothing but a problem and inconvenience. It was disappointing to feel so undervalued during this whole home-buying experience. With closing dates getting pushed by months, no assistance or consideration was given to me or my family to help deal with these changes. We were forced to shell THOUSANDS of dollars and live in a hotel for almost a month, while Richmond Homes refused to help or offer any concessions simply because " we are not inclined to offer concessions due to closing date changes." Our family suffered while Richmond Homes made their money off of us. The only redeeming quality of this experience was our construction project manager, Nick. He was at least attentive and was able to assist with any issues or problems that came up. It was quite a lackluster experience overall. ... More

Sales representatives and superintendent are very helpful

The house buying experience was what it was. Since closing, There has been issues with the house that arise such as a leaking toilet, some paint work, replacement of fridge doors, etc. I can call or text Dawn and let her know and she is on top of it. You don’t need to call her and remind her, you don’t need a long story but just the facts and she’s got it covered. It really has made me less anxious due to this being my first house. She’s a great asset to your company and hope she is recognized for her outstanding customer service.

Professional care from sales office, Found more details that needed repair than expected.

We love our home beautiful home and it’s in a beautiful area in Black Ridge Cove. We love the deck and terrace, size of rooms, etc., but as a spec home there are things we couldn’t give input on through the building process. There appears to be a clear emphasis on speed of subcontractor work and not quality. The floating floor was not checked to ensure that it was cut close enough to the walls so that when the floor moldings were installed, the ends were covered. The floor moulding subcontractor also didn’t pause when they clearly saw that the floor was cut short, so now we have several areas where the floor is cut short of the moldings and are still waiting for resolution of the issues more than a month after closing. Shouldn’t someone inspect the work at each stage to ensure it meets a certain standard? Other issues that are head scratchers include no light over the sink and not installing lights over the kitchen island. I realize that an electrical line was put in the ceiling so that we could install them ourselves and choose between two or three lights, but that doesn’t seem like the right thing to cut costs on. At my age it’s difficult to install lights over a large kitchen island with 10 foot ceilings. I have to put a ladder on the island to reach the ceiling. The other thing I would have done differently is to put the light by the door to the garage on a separate switch from the can lights in the family room. The light is primarily used for the closet by the door, but when you turn it on to get a coat from the closet, you also turn on the 4 can lights over the family room. That makes you not want to turn that light on if others are watching tv in the evening. Did they talk to anyone who had actually lived in a home before designing the lighting? ... More

We are satisfied with what we got from Richmond American

enjoyed watching the house get put together. I got updates weekly on the progress. I have less stress knowing that there is a warranty for the home and that as things settle we will be covered.,

So the home has some pros and cons. Some of the upgrades are nice but then they went cheap on other things…such as upgraded fixtures but didn’t even put in a smart thermostat or the wire for a smart thermostat. There are many things that they went cheap on. In addition we were told before we entered into a contract and received the hoa rules that the only thing we had to worry about was drainage. Once we entered into contract and were towards the end we finally got hoa requirements and by then it was to late to back out as we would have lost all of our deposit. We were not told the truth about the hoa and had we known the truth we would not have purchased. ... More

All of the people that I came in contact with were great. Briana was there every step of the way. Rosemary also was a great assistance to me after I moved in. Gabriel also ensured that everything was taken care of from the walk thru. I highly recommend Richmond American for the quality of their homes and customer service.
