Would not buy a Richmond American Home again. Grew up in a family with construction background so very familiar with quality and to rate quality would be a 0. The house was complete disaster and unclean upon receiving Keys. Everything we had asked for was denied. Even during walk thru and something as simple as door bell not working and comment made was "I wouldn't want one anyways, who wants to hear a door bell?" well needless to say, I believe there is a simple reason for having a door bell. LOL...anyhow absolute nightmare and they are very pushy to get you to close escrow without them on there end having everything completed. There contract is completely in favor of Richmond Homes with NO protection at all for the buyer. Anyhow in a nut shell we bought a Brand NEW FIXER UPPER from top to bottom. We had a new sales agent that didn’t know much. We mentioned things to him about the house and they were never shared with the builder. He quit prior to our closing only to our surprise and that was not communicated. Our new home orientation was done with someone that had never been to the house prior. So it was not that helpful. Many items from our blue tape walk through were not addressed prior to final walk through. The same person that did our orientation said he was never back at the property since that day so he didn’t even know what has done prior to final walkthrough. Some of the items were done at the final walkthrough, others were not completed at all. He failed to do many things he promised. He said to reach him directly to handle some of the repairs that rolled over but that quickly changed to file warranty claims. It had taken several weeks to get some repairs taken care of. We have lived in the home now for four weeks and still have areas needing paint based on repairs. Hard to feel settled in when you have a wall and trim in your living room that is not complete. Communication was poor throughout. The mortgage company waited until the very last minute to really look at details they needed which made us have to push back our signing. Not a great experience at all and still dealing with headaches and having to make plans around repairs and paint. Not what I expected from a new home. ... More

Throughout the entire build process Jordan and sales team provided beyond exceptional Customer service and were always available to answer any questions we had with positive attitudes no matter how often we bugged them. This sales team is what the standard should be when it comes to customer service excellence. Quality of the home is also great, Chase oversaw majority of our build, throughout his time at the carillon site he was also exceptional in ensuring the home stayed on track and maintained a high quality build standard and customer service excellence. Alex took over for chase at the end of the Build. Alex is always friendly and has a positive attitude and strives to keep a quality mindset. however there were some minor final details that were over looked and still pending repair. These issues were caught within 30 days of completion most were fixed before our first walk but 30 days after closing about 5 or 6 items still remain. And some new minor issues have been found. Our overall Experience with Richmond American homes has been phenomenal and we are grateful for the entire team in making our Dream home come to fruition. The process was smooth and the lay outs are nice .

The overall process was good, using their finance company was ok, but got a great rate. The Site Supe is not up to the task of making sure all punch list items are completed before closing, or even addressed in a timely manner after closing. There is a lack of ownership of the issues that remain open but all parties with Richmond American Homes. The house is nice, it is just all the little things that should have been taken care of; paint on the carpet, ships in the walls, pink "paint fix here" marks were missed, miss matched fixtures. All easy to fix, just were not done.

We had an awesome experience buying our first new build. It was a marathon but Ms H made it as painless as possible, she's was easy to reach and always open to our questions. Sales and Sup we're really helpful. Can definitely recommend!!

Poor service and poor quality.

I spent a month and a half looking at homes all over the Salt Lake Valley, and it was a miserable experience. Just as I was about to give up the search I found my new home. Richmond American Homes was phenomenal to buy from. I was so tired of putting out offers on homes, so it was a miracle when I was able to sign a contract on my home the same day! Desiree in the sales office absolutely brought the whole sale together. She offered great insights and advice, and was very patient and enthusiastic about the work. I can't thank her enough! I love my home and have been eager to show it off to all of my friends and family! ... More

I wished the Richmond American homes builders would put quality materials and closets in these new build homes. The builders put wire shelves in the closets and pantry, which is the cheapest way to go. Just build it quality and put it back in the price if you have to. Now, the new home owners are forced to hire a contractor to add hanging poles and shelves in all closets and pantry. Plus, Richmond American homes builders should have added a coat closet in the front living room. Lastly, Richmond American homes builders should have made a small basement. These model home crawl spaces are huge and should have added stairs and made it a small basement for storage and for the furnace and hot water heater. ... More

This was the worst experience in regard to communication period. Our agent Mayra shared no concern with my and my wife's concerns to the home purchase. She seemed simply satisfied to getting the signatures required and the deposits then after that she simply disappeared! She made numerous blunders. Not mistakes but huge blunders and wouldn't answer her phone or return messages as needed. When we finally got to move into the house, we had to wait 30 days to receive the builders' incentives appliances. Washer, Dryer and Refrigerator!!! The house is pretty awesome but here we are waiting for the construction issues to be corrected! It seems as though there is no communication among the Richmond employees. No one seems to know who is responsible for what. I'm hoping that soon all construction items will be completed because we have warranty issues cropping up that I am holding on to so as to not confuse these workers. The building process was very good. The follow up after has not been as good. We did not receive any training on how to operate our appliances. Now that we are here, we are unable to register with the home warrantee company, and are having an issue with at least one appliance.

The beginning of the process was very smooth but by the end was a disaster, disappointment. I think the loan processor and the underwriter didn’t use the information they have for weeks prior to the closing with excellency. They was required information, transactions and payoff the day before closing, and also the closing day they was very late on everything. After we finally close I didn’t have the key for my new house and let me in shame in front of my family and friends, specially my wife, to me was a disaster.

Overall I can say we love our Richmond American home. However the buying experience did not go as smoothly as I imagined it to be when it came down to closing. Our house was definitely not ready to close on our closing date. I was pushed back once already for a stairwell railing replacement due to the wrong railing installed. I wish I could of delayed our closing again due to the fact our house was very dirty on our closing date. My first 2 days of owning the house was spent cleaning the entirety of the house from dust and dirt. It took several repeats of deep cleaning to remove dirt and excess paint off the LVO and carpet. Something that should not of happened and did take away the excitement of moving into a new home. I did hire a 3rd party inspection in which found a few major and several cosmetic issues. Major issues were repaired but had still had several other cosmetic issues needing to be repaired that was not completed prior to closing. Management did complete almost all cosmetic items in a timely manner after settlement. We have had multiple issues regarding irrigation pipes leaking but they have been addressed. The grass that is placed throughout the property and community is Bahia. Bahia grass so far has been low maintenance but our grass was not watered regularly when placed prior to settling. Majority of the grass in the front yard is very patchy along with the countless nails and metal fragments that is constantly being found. I have yet to walk barefoot on my own grass without the fear of stepping on a rusted nail. ... More

Dream home fantastic build quality

The team from walking in the model to get the keys was exceptional. We looked at many home builders and were blown away with how responsive the team was and how quick we were able to be in our home. By far the most thorough final walk through we have ever had. Explained everything had all paperwork for warranties etc ready for us.10 out of 10 recommend.

I really like my new home. The only problem I had is the two other bedrooms are super small. I have a three piece bedroom suites and they are all crunched together. So the bedrooms could be a little bigger. My pantry is to die for and so is my laundry room. We love our RV garage. (Our diesel pusher barely fits) but it does. On my walk through we had several things that needed fixed. Especially a hole in the master bath ceiling where the light is on the ceiling. Not fixed. Then …. How in the world did this get through inspection: in our attack the plumber needs to come back and fix the roof, then after that is fixed the roofer needs to come back. This needs immediate attention. I have called a few times. I have been in my home sense March 13, 2024. I need this fixed. The other issues can wait. On my builder Mike, he is super wonderful!!!! He works so hard and now he is short handed and trying to get everything done. He is a hard worker and tries very hard to please everyone. He is only one man and he can not do it all. I would not purchase a home from Richmond American Homes again.

We had issuing plumbing pieces, exterior material. Walls not completely painted, carpeting already fraying and not secure, molding falling off and having to nail or glue back on. For the amount people are paying for these homes it should be better quality and actually still be sturdy and not falling apart in less then a year.

My experience has been bad from the start. We originally wanted to design our own house but the lot we wanted “wasn’t available yet” so we decided on a pre approved plan. It was also on a corner and the bedroom and larger side of the yard was on the corner side away from the neighbors. We were assured this is the exact layout of the house we were buying and happy with our purchase. Then They built it “flopped” or reverse so now it’s jammed against the wall, our bedroom and large side is against the neighbors. This is exactly what I didn’t want. We were told by Gina, in the fine print the builder can do anything, anytime, for any reason and we’re stuck with this. There was virtually 0 communication from the builder A.B during the process. We had none of the pre walks of anything before our punch walk. At this time there were about 50 issues, including no heat, missing faucet, cracked countertop, missing lights, a loose paver at the entrance, missing backsplash, dirty inside, paint all over the concrete. I can go on and on. After closing we didn’t move in for a week because we made a deal with the new builders Tom and Dan, to take care of the issues. After a week not 1 single thing was done. After that week I brought my kids to their new house and my 7 year old daughter tripped on the loose paver and fell. This is her first experience at our new home. Since moving in they have slowly addressed some of the major items, but barely touched the list and we still have incomplete items all over. 2 weeks ago our A/C stopped working. It took 2 weeks to fix. There are so many things that need to be fixed, and the worst part is the quality of the craftsmanship mainly on the interior trim/doors/base. Every time I look at a door I get so frustrated because they all look awful. Walking down the entry hall you can see every stud in the wall. It looks so bad. I have sent emails and texts and pictures to the builder and to Richmond homes corporate asking for help. I always get the same response. Nothing. I don’t know what to do at this point. I have been slowly fixing things when I have time, but I work 10-12 hrs at my job. The only people who have made an effort to help us are Tom and Dan, but now they avoid us. This was a terrible home buying experience. Terrible communication from Dan. Did walk through and most items were not completed at closing. Back yard landscape is extremely poor workmanship. No attention to detail in house. Dark cabinets and they install a white vent cover. No drawers in second bedroom. No place to put a towel bar. In master bathroom. The list goes on. . Hid the fact that we had a 12’ deep easement at the rear yard so back yard is much smaller than expected.
