Still haven't talked to anyone about warranty issues and have been here 2 months

Repairing is very slow responding back is very slow I have things that are still not fixed from the day one that I moved in very dissatisfied. If I could put a zero instead of one star on response to issues I would very unhappy with things not getting completed just the Highlight one had to slide her door issue it took them coming out four times to complete the issue but did not complete the issue they ended up making another issue with poking holes in my screens put in a work order several and still not done I have been there since December very dissatisfied

We had a great experience working with Brian, Doug, Stephen and the whole staff at Richmond Homes. They were attentive, expedient, and professional. They made sure we were highly satisfied with our new home.

I recently purchased a home built by Richmond American Homes, and my overall experience has been far from satisfactory. Here’s a detailed review highlighting the issues I’ve encountered: Subfloors Bowed: The subfloors in my home were noticeably bowed from the beginning. Unfortunately, this issue requires major repair. Walking across uneven surfaces is frustrating, and I worry about the long-term impact on the structure. Cheap Materials: Richmond American Homes seem to have prioritized cost-cutting over quality. The cabinets, doors, trim, paint all appear to be low quality. For the price I paid, I expected better materials that would stand the test of time. Lack of Attention to Detail: The lack of craftsmanship is evident throughout the house. From crooked trim to mismatched paint, it’s clear that the builders didn’t take pride in their work. Even basic finishing touches were overlooked. Nails Coming Through Carpet: Imagine my surprise when I stepped on a nail poking through the carpet on the stairs! Not only is this uncomfortable, but it’s also a safety hazard. Proper installation procedures were clearly ignored. Curved Walls: Some of the interior walls have noticeable curves, which affects the overall aesthetics of the home. Straight walls are a basic expectation, especially in a new build. The lack of precision is disappointing. Nail Pops: I’ve already had several nail pops in the drywall. These unsightly bumps indicate poor construction practices. It’s frustrating to deal with repairs so soon after moving in. Shingles Not Securely Fastened to Roof: During a recent storm, I noticed loose shingles flapping in the wind. Proper installation and secure fastening are critical for a durable roof. Richmond American Homes clearly fell short in this regard. Holes in Siding Patched with Caulking: Instead of addressing siding issues properly, the builders opted for a quick fix—caulking over holes and gaps. This not only looks unprofessional but also raises concerns about water infiltration and insulation. In summary, my experience with Richmond American Homes has been disappointing. I urge potential buyers to hire a professional inspector to thoroughly inspect the workmanship, materials, and attention to detail before committing to a purchase. First time buying a brand new house, I thought I could customize which wasn’t the case. We start the house from scratch and they told us, they already ordered everything, so no changes. However, we love the house despite some requests that they were not able to adjust. We worked with Steven, the saler, he is very knowledgeable and always available whenever we needed him even now. I will recommend Richmond American Homes. Also they have a great APR that you will never found anywhere. That’s the big reason we chose them. Thank you

Low quality material repair work are to hard to get done bathrooms are ridiculously small very very unsatisfied.

Buying our Richmond American home was easy. The Sarah was exactly what we were looking for. Perfect for us with its beautiful layout. Reasonably priced. Lovely neighborhood and all surroundings.

The Richmond-built home that we bought is beautiful and we love it. The struggle was all worth it. The lead-up to closing was stressful because RAH has many rules and restrictions in place that are not buyer-friendly, for example: restriction on pre-closing home inspection, restriction on who can be present during the walkthrough, restricted entry prior to closing. The construction crew were always friendly and helped us with pictures as we planned furniture though! The sales team was great at first, but I can't help but correlate their change in attitude with our desire to not use their preferred lender. We are still unhappy with how their preferred lender cannot come to a competitive loan package even with over $25K in seller credit. However, this process of conversing with multiple lenders taught us a lot about the mortgage lending business. Many voice messages and emails went unanswered and we resorted to persistent phone calls to make sure that we're on track to close on-time. I bought the home December of last year. Inspection had minor issues. Afterward, the second walkthrough also had not fixed issues. They asked me to waived inspection because it was a new house. Maybe I should not have agreed. In addition, even though I paid 20%, they didn't go over that I could opt out of paying taxes every month. I also submitted a request to fix more minor issues. It was hard to get the issues resolved.

Overall I had a moderately good experience. I do feel like I had to stay on top of the builder to make sure most of the outstanding items were followed up on before the closing date which I didn't expect with such a short closing period before the holidays. There were also a lot of nails and materials left in the backyard which I didn't anticipate. In general the sales office was helpful and my builder contacts were mostly responsive. I do feel they would of been more attentive if I was able to review their work more often but unfortunately I don't live in the state so that wasn't an option. ... More

Small paint issues throughout house.

I am extremely disappointed in Richmond American homes. The process started out well. My agent that handled the initial sale and my design consultant Taffie did a good job. However, once construction began and throughout the construction of my new home, I have been extremely dissatisfied with the communication regarding the process and the workmanship that went into my new home. I closed my sale on January 16th, 2024 and there are still unfinished items that I have paid for and yet to have completed. I have not heard a single word from anyone at Richmond American about these issues. I have significant problems in my home that will never be fixed. This situation is true for many of my neighbors as well and we are discussing the possibility of litigation at this point in order to enforce our rights. I would strongly recommend against anyone buying a Richmond American home until the company fixes its communications problems and hires better contractors that complete the work at an acceptable level. Great experience and trustworthy all the way. Sales Associate, Chuck, worked great on my side all through the way and respond to every questions in a prompt respectful, and professional manner. Great guidance all through the way for a first time home buyer like me, and the gift and follow ups even after moving in was great ensuring we enjoy our new house.

We love our home. The preferred lender was really great. I feel like the builder agent could have communicated a bit better. It caused a delay of a few months and we had to spend several thousand on an apartment. They wouldn't sell us the lot we wanted because our down payment was contingent on selling our house. We went under contract for a different lot being very clear we intended to transfer to the lot we wanted if it was still available. The home we wanted was supposed to be finished late September/early Oct. But once we went under contract for the lot we didn't want, they stopped working on the house we wanted and rushed to finish the house we put a deposit on. We sold our house, did everything to transfer the paperwork to the original lot we wanted only to find out that now it wouldn't be done until mid December. Kind of threw a wrench in Christmas. The builder also didn't notify us that the house was built 10' further back than the plot map showed until we were under contract. This makes the backyard very small, but we've come to appreciate that we have a view out our side windows whereas everyone else has a view of their neighbors' windows. That's all just some feedback. All of the above will be just a silly memory in a few years. Just odd that they'd stop construction on a house that had a buyer to focus on building a house we told them we weren't interested in. The details you get for the price of the home is better than any other home we saw.

Home was not ready to close, first walk was done without power, but corporate refused to move the closing date. Almost a month in the home and still asking for things to be fixed that were promised to be done since closing wouldn't be moved. Word to the wise, simply refuse to close if they don't fix things. Love the floorplan and location, wish the builder kept their word.
