Overall, I'm disappointed in the quality and craftsmanship of our home. After being moved in for just over a month, more and more issues are coming to light. Corners were definitely cut to save the builder money. The home seemed rushed to get completed as well. The silver lining to all of this is that so far, they have been fixing issues in a timely manner once they are brought to them.

We recently went through the process of purchasing a home, and while there were certainly positive aspects, there were also some significant challenges that we encountered along the way. Let's start with the positives. Firstly, the front office sales team was exemplary. They were consistently cordial, communicative, and attentive to our needs throughout the process. Their professionalism made navigating the initial stages of the purchase relatively smooth. Secondly, securing a mortgage through the lender was surprisingly easy. We appreciated the efficiency and clarity they provided, which made what can often be a daunting process feel manageable. Additionally, the interior design process for the house was unexpectedly enjoyable. It was both fun and informative, allowing us to customize our new space to suit our tastes and preferences. However, our experience was not without its drawbacks. One of the most significant issues we encountered was the misrepresentation of the property. Despite being sold to us as a single-family house, it was, in fact, a single-family condo. This discrepancy wasn't realized until well into our Escrow period, causing confusion and frustration. Furthermore, there were several discrepancies within the house that were not addressed prior to closing. This lack of attention to detail left us feeling disappointed and questioning the thoroughness of the process. Upon moving in, we were dismayed to find the house in a less than desirable condition. It was dirty, with uncleaned counters, muddy footprints on the floor, and dust accumulated throughout. This lack of cleanliness was disappointing and not reflective of the standards we expected. Additionally, the details regarding HOA payments were not fully disclosed to us, leading to uncertainty and confusion regarding our financial obligations. Lastly, we felt rushed throughout the closing process. Instead of feeling confident in our decision, we were left with the impression that closing the deal quickly was prioritized over ensuring our satisfaction as customers. In conclusion, while there were positive aspects to our home purchase experience, such as the professionalism of the sales team, the ease of securing a mortgage, and the enjoyable interior design process, the significant drawbacks, including the misrepresentation of the property, lack of attention to detail, cleanliness issues upon moving in, incomplete disclosure of HOA payments, and the rushed closing process, left us feeling dissatisfied overall. ... Non responsive people. After several calls and emails, nobody answers your concerns. The quality of the brand new building is not as good as you think. Very bad customer service. The offered incentive would be gone in some non sense expenses.

I had to close twice because of the lack of the certificate of occupancy. I could never get a real closing date in order to schedule my movers. I lost $1500 at the 2nd closing that I wouldn't have lost in the 1st closing. There was no oversight on the trades such as my entire floor of the house. It wasn't leveled before the LVP was installed leaving hills and valleys in my flooring. My beautiful quartz countertop on the kitchen island has a extremely visible seam directly down the middle...as do the countertops by the stove. Doors are hung correctly to be able to close. An uninstalled shutter was in my garage. And my premium lot, which costs extra, has a retaining wall built 15 feet inside my property line giving me zero access to the back 15 feet of my property. From the street, this looks like a beautiful house, and for the $$$ it should never have had these issues. So far, the builder tends to make excuses about the major issues. I'd lost trust in them during the purchasing process. I should've cancelled this purchase and moved on to a more reputable builder. Now the company has been bought out by a Japanese firm. Maybe they're more reputable and will fix these issues...but after going through this process, I doubt it. I'd suggest looking elsewhere for a quality built home. ... More

It was a long process. A lot of endless paperwork-The house is good-a few concerns-they fixed quickly. It was not an easy process. House is in a great location.

Loved the weekly updates on the status of our home as it was being built. The whole process was very easy and hassle free. Thank you for everything! We love our new home!

Experience is good,, house is nice

I'll be honest, it was a pretty rough experience overall. I put the money down in January. They initially said July was the goal, and then pushed to mid August, then mid October, mid November, end of November, mid December, end of December, mid January, then I finally closed (barely) at the end of January. There was a different person to work with every other month, between sales reps, superintendents, construction managers, etc. They had to redo something about nearly every part of the house because they did it wrong or failed inspections, and turnover was well over 100%. I had to compare notes with several of the contacts at the company each week to try to figure out what was actually happening, and I was going out there myself once or twice per week to see who was right. They were scrambling to finish at the end- I was missing countertops and tons of aesthetics during my initial home walkthrough (blue tape) and they were still finishing up the morning of closing. They didn't get my certificate of occupancy until literally hours before closing, so I couldn't do utilities beforehand, and closing took 3 hours because we had to wait for the CO to propagate through the various groups. I worked with some good people like Melissa, Darlene, Taffie, and Alan that kept me from pulling out completely, but it was a rough process overall that took over a year to complete. It's a good house, with many things I really appreciate (large yard, gutters/architectural shingles were included, great drywall work, heavy emphasis on energy efficiency, tall ceilings, etc.) but it was a lot of work to get it done correctly along the way. ... This was our first home purchase but not the first exposure to the home buying experience. A family member recently closed on a new construction from a different builder and it was a headache and total mess for them. We all know about the horror stories. Our expectations were low and we figured it’d be like pulling teeth to have any concerns addressed. This was not the case! We couldn’t be happier with our home. Jesse, Rex, and Chad at Desert Oasis II truly deserve to be recognized. Thank you gentlemen for our forever home. We will raise a family in our house and make lasting memories. This wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for the care and attention from start to finish. I am a detailed oriented person and was floored by the quality of craftsmanship that Jesse and Rex turned out on our home. We have had nothing but great things to say about Richmond American to our family and friends. Overall this has been an exhausting process. There were so many issues wrong with the house. You would think paying over $700K for a home would get you more. Materials are cheap. I will never buy another RA home, and I will not be recommending your homes to anyone looking to purchase.

Richmond was great to work with - we found multiple homes that we wanted to buy, and we ended up with the home of our dreams!

Good plans! Workmanship is poor. And supervision of construction. Very poor. I still have issues that I need to now try to get fixed on my time. I’ll be by the grace of God to get these things done. Not to mention some of the main construction there’s issues. I still may have to take things up to the Better Business Bureau.

I just liked the way I was treated by everyone I came in contact with. So far so good. Thx Marco
