We’re very happy in our new home and are pleased with the work put in to it. This was our first time building a home so we were learning along the way. Our biggest struggle was in the beginning. Our sales agent did not cash our check for the lot we wanted and was difficult to get answers from in a timely manor. About a week later, she responded by saying another couple had purchased that lot. We don’t understand how she wouldn’t have known that before we gave her a check for more then $20,000. We tried on another lot she advertised and wrote a new check. She came back to us later saying that lot was actually not up for sell yet so we had to find another lot… finally we landed on the one we own. I want to make it clear that they were apologetic and did not attempt to take advantage of the first checks we gave them. They were fair with our money. But it was very stressful not obtaining the lots we wanted, while also worrying about why checks weren’t being cashed. Once the house went under construction, we worked more directly with the builder and that was an overall better experience for us. There a few things in the home that aren’t perfect (squareness of drywall in some areas, etc) but for the most part the builder was willing to make the fixes we asked for before closing. ... More

I recently purchased a home from Richmond American Homes and wanted to share my overall experience. On the positive side, the home is well-designed, and the construction quality is generally good. However, my overall rating falls at a B due to a few notable concerns. One significant aspect is the lack of attention to detail during the construction process. This has required assertiveness on my part to address and have issues remedied. While the customer service from Richmond American Homes is responsive, it could benefit from more proactive problem-solving. Setting average expectations throughout the home buying process proved crucial. It's advisable to be prepared for occasional disappointments and exercise assertiveness in communicating concerns. From start to finish, we had a great experience with Richmond Homes. Don and Jason were great to work with, and very responsive to our questions.

On the day of my walkthrough, the electrical was not working in the kitchen, no hot water, the back fence was crushed by a tractor, screens missing and torn and so forth. The person conducting the walkthrough for Richmond had no idea of the condition of the house because Richmond did not complete a pre inspection. All this means that Richmond rushes to get you to the closing table, hoping to push you into a long post closing list. Any buyer should be aware that it is highly unlikely that anyone from Richmond will come back to complete the "post-closing" punch list. I've not seen anyone, and speaking with neighbors, they haven't either, one neighbor has been trying to complete a long list for 11 months. I still don't have a missing screen for my sliding door and there are missing handles on my cabinets. After 30 days, I have been completing/fixing many open items myself. It started with being told Richmond wanted to close at the end of September. I was told at the end of the month they had no intention of doing so and the construction crew had until the end of October to finish. My family moved across country and had to live in hotels and Air BnBs paying out of pocket. The garage flooring was left cracked with nails and glue still on it, ice maker in refrigerator still doesn’t work, home wasn’t pressure washed, yard was trashed during irrigation maintenance which still floods my yard. I had to reschedule movers multiple times due to Richmond’s delays. There was also u used paint, times, vinyl planks, long pieces of wood, and dead frogs left in the home. My family just moved in to our new home. We love it. With anything built by human hands we expect some flaws. Some of our doorknobs where installed upside down. Other than that, this house has been great so far.

I have previously bought under a different builder and any issues with the property was addressed timely but this builder Richmond American do not address any issues at all. I am missing items that was promised and I cannot get them to respond timely.

The experience was overall good and I’d recommend Richmond to anyone.

I was not happy with communication about the progress of my house, I did not get weekly updates, and I was not oriented properly. things that we pointed out was not fixed at closing

The builder kept us informed about the progress of the project.

Do not fall for any push back from the builder. Demand a quality home. Show home is good but your home has shortcuts,

work was done horrible repairs times are slow and everyone blaming everyone else the repair swere done poorly

We have had but excellent service. All staff has followed thru and taken care of all issues that have arised.

Great value, Wendy and Braxton were great. The paint/drywall/trim contractors did a poor job.

This is a company that keeps its word and it fantastically responsive. They have great customer service.

Brand new home came with many imperfections. Not very detailed worked. When asking them to fix something they make excuses. Didn’t like their workmanship.

Anastasia was fantastic in the sales process, made it very easy and smooth! The Richmond finance side were also great, very responsive and we got an incredible interest rate!

From the first meeting with the sales person Mike to the walk throughs with the construction super Tom, the process has been smooth and easy. They addressed all my questions and even after closing, they have helped with questions and concerns. I’ve had a few new build homes and by far this has been the best experience.

Too many little issues We will see how they are handled

I purchase this home with Richmond because of the reputation and quality of the homes, I love my home. Will I buy again from Richmond American? NO! Manger Kim it is the most rude, condescending, disrespectful person I ever came across. Mortgage processor Paul, same condescending attitudes , did not disclosed loan fees and wasn’t responding to email or request to return calls. To busy for me. Closing process, walkthrough delay,Tom need it to have things done before closing and had 2 weeks to ge it done,, nothing was done.I’m still waiting) move in a month ago. Took 11 month to build and it was one of the last homes on subdivision, NO communication! I only had a good experience with one person was Casey, always willing to help, the problem is every body else don’t respond to him either. Very unfortunate that people ruin the home buying experience, like the homes but i will not recommend to my family and friends. ... More
