We had the best Shea Homes experience from start to finish. Upon move in, we had a white glove service to set up all our smart appliances and devices in the home. Everyone that we worked with during the process was caring, friendly, knowledgeable and always willing to assist. Even after purchase, the Shea experience is like none other. A mixer was held for all of the owners, including those that are waiting to close. They go the extra mile to build a neighborhood. It goes beyond the closing. Thank you to everyone on the Shea Homes team. I would definitely recommend these builders.

From the first visit with the sales manager to the walk through with the specialist the experience was exceptional. All aspects of the purchase were of the highest quality. All people interacted with were super professional making sure at all times that we were completely aware of progress. I would highly recommend the Shea experience to any potential buyers.

Overall, we love our new home. Quality of workmanship is great, but for the Barbosa cabinets are of poor quality, installation and workmanship!! I’m very disappointed to say the least. Our quartz island top is also from Barbosa as well. The fabrication and installation is quite questionable when it comes to matching the two pieces. The colors don’t even match!! There are numerous chips, scratches, filler with bluff marks and black lines on the kitchen island, counters as well as in the laundry room. Overall, we are happy with construction quality and Sheas’ one month warranty check up.

The whole home buying was just what I expected. The whole Shea team has been great.

First time buying new home build , it was new experience , but you could have your sales people more clear in their instructions or information on what to do. But at the end I am happy with m house, thank you

Quality is good, walk-through before the move in did not address key electrical issues, such as misplacement of outlets in certain areas of the house and refusing to correct after move-in. Wrong wiring in the bedrooms (lights flickering when ceiling fan is on). Upper kitchen cabinets are very shallow. Overall we are satisfied with these exceptions.

We had seen their ads but going through the buying process of a Shea home is an experience you won't forget. From the personal meetings to the very detailed walkthroughs we felt informed every step of the way. The Shea staff are well trained yet personable and eager to help. That coupled with high quality materials and excellent workmanship make for a very special experience. Thank you Shea!

We received adequate updates during the build of our new home. We appreciated the quick responses to our questions & concerns.

Multiple issues with workmanship. Fit and finish is laughable with doors that don't align, cabinets damaged, stucco peeling, paint that doesn't cover, trim that doesn't fit together. Not happy with the oversight or lack thereof by project management.

Question everything. Many things are not as pictured. Shea constantly substitutes vendors, often not for the better. They tend to blame the vendors for reasons the substitution is inferior but when you talk to the vendor it is a different story. This project is almost complete and Shea wants to be gone. It shows in having a finished house and the amount of time I spend waiting for repairs. Not much pride in their product at this point in the development. Everyone says in the beginning it was much better and Shea made sure things were done right. Two months later I still can not use my master shower. It will be repaired in another 3 weeks ... More

To whom it may concern, I am writing an open letter regarding our disappointing experience buying our brand new Shea home in the new community of Côta Vera. We were fortunate enough to be in phase one, and although we knew phase one would come with delays and some issues (we were also phase one in the Escaya community), we never expected to have this many issues. As far as delays, there were way more than expected. We closed on our home at the end of March, and when we signed the purchase agreement we were told the anticipated closing would be towards the end of December. That being said, when a house is sitting there “completed” and we were basically “waiting on the city,” one would expect to close and move into a move-in-ready home. Which is so far from what we moved into. Since officially moving into our house on April 6, our front door has been a revolving door of Shea employees/contractors here to fix or repair things that were either blatantly installed broken … or weren’t installed at all. Currently my days consist of waiting around for these employees to actually show up, some come unannounced, some show up late, some are so incredibly rude it makes me feel uneasy (as if we are purposely inconveniencing them), the list goes on. Meanwhile, my 2 year old son and I are trapped upstairs in the loft so that we aren’t in the way, unable to leave the house at all, and feel completely uncomfortable in our own home. I’ve had to rearrange our personal schedule to accommodate these individuals, despite all of the issues being Shea’s fault. There has been very little give when it comes to scheduling these appointments, and almost everyone comes at the tail end of their window of time. In regards to issues, these are some of the things we have experienced … our front door wouldn’t stay shut unless deadbolted (the door frame had to be modified), our Kwikset lock does not work, the recessed lighting in the downstairs bedroom was never installed and now we’re left with a home that has to constantly be patch up, the top of our hood was never put back into place after the inspection, the frame around our microwave was installed dented, damaged tiles were installed in our backsplash, our upgraded island and vanity in the master bathroom were heavily damaged and they tried to touch it up but it looks awful, the top of the cabinet as you walk in from the garage is not level (it sinks down), the top to the cabinet at the top of our stairs was installed damaged, our patio door off the master didn’t lock properly, the master closet didn’t have support brackets, the medicine cabinet in the upstairs bathroom was broken, the toilet in our powder room wasn’t properly installed which resulted in the bathroom flooding (so now the floors need to be pulled up and replaced), and our banister and railing was installed with damaged pieces of wood. This list goes on, as we find more and more issues DAILY. Though your customer service has been wonderful (seriously, Thomas as well as your sales team Spencer and Lorena, have been amazing), it’s still the fact that we closed on a home that was clearly not ready for us. We are so disappointed in the quality of work that went into this home. It is very obvious that corners were cut in order to produce our house as quickly as possible. And for what? That house sat there for 3 months waiting for the city to finish the roads, install meters, and do their inspections. And now that we have moved into our house, our days consist of regular communication with Thomas to arrange scheduling of all the random contractors that need to come into our home and fix these issues. We have been here for a little over a month and still aren’t able to feel fully comfortable in our own home. Every morning my son wakes up and asks, “people come mama?” And it’s immediately followed by, “no more people mama.” Which honestly breaks my heart. At what point will Shea stand up and make things right? Simply “fixing” the issue doesn’t make our experience right, or amend the situation. The entire Shea staff was was not only courteous and friendly but made a personal connection throughout the process. We were informed every step of the way and hey were very responsive about every minor issue. We are extremely happy with our home and the experience of buying a Shea Home.

Shea kept me informed during every step of my home building process. I was informed if there was even a possibility of a delay which allowed me to trust the process.

Everyone here is great! Casey,Vicki,Patty,Mariel and Kyle. They make the process easy. The team here is very responsive to questions and kept me up to date for each phase of the build. I highly recommend Shea.

Lots of items need fixing in this house!

The one in charge of the project was awesome! He was so responsive and took interest in our concerns. His name started with an A since I am not supposed to give out names and we are on Solera Street.

Carpet was very bad and even when their own people agreed that carpet is in bad condition, office guys just wanted to fix the problem

Ensure you check everything works cause they don’t seem to do that QA. For a brand new home at this price, we found things not working or broken items and gas leak in water heater closet that PG&E needed to come for and told us they don’t know why the builders just didn’t tighten. Some issues we had to go back and forth on with other vendors only to find out the builder needed to come check as they didn’t wire. We are waiting on some issues still to be fixed. Elevator didn’t work the one day within a month if moving in. Definitely wouldn’t have expected this many issues with a new home. Floor material used is really really bad and not durable at all!!! Gets scratched and damaged VERY easily. We were told garages would fit big cars but it is very very tight and tough to get in and out if your car in the garage. Also no ramp to drive car into garage as entrance has a bump so you have to get yourself own ramps. Garage unfinished which we knew but would have been nice to have completed. Also garbage bins have to be stored and pulled in and out every week from the tight spaced garage. Definitely the garage space is the biggest inconvenience with how it was planned. We were told our building was the last only to see new construction of the same type condos right now, thus could have opted for other floors and plans had they been honest and not felt like we had to rush cause they were selling out. ... Builder is slow to respond to issues. Lack of transparency with items that they will not be able to complete and/or deliver by the time the house is delivered to home buyer. Poor coordination and communication with Shea staff as well as with trades. Lack of accountability for trades that don’t do their job well or staff that don’t follow through.

It has been great so far!

This is a very well designed complex with nice grounds. The units have smart home devices. It would have been nice to have assistance with setting up these devices. I still can't get my garage door app to work. All other devices are setup. Including the Ring doorbell, both thermostats, hot water heater, oven & microwave.
