The sales center was awesome, got the lot on the lake and the very expensive upgrades, however the thoroughness in detail to a pristine home build missed the mark with the construction workers not paying attention to detail. The pandemic brought in poor quality workers and flawed workmanship. Quite a few things were incomplete and I did not have that WOW moment when moving in. Deep cleaning wasnt done, the home was dusty, tile and flooring did not look brand new, electrical glitches still happening with the breaker, missing under cabinet lightening, missing sprinkler heads, HomePro is useless still waiting on a couple of work tickets to be scheduled for service. Aesthetics and first impressions are everything. I needed to have that WOW moment of my forever dream home and I did not. Still waiting on Shea to circle back on service recovery. ... More

My home had multiple leaks from 3 different rooms for more than 5times , shea home came and check and said everything is fine , we just did it on purpose to make it happen, that’s ridiculous! And they say they can’t help and want me to call my own insurance . Now I am searching for legal help .Don’t buy shea home !

The home itself is gorgeous with many upgrades in the standard package. Very spacious with huge kitchens . But the sales and communication staff lack any effort or desire for their jobs. They are unhelpful and do not inform you of community events.

I believe June 2021 was whEn we succeeded in obtaining the rights to Lot 8. Anticipating completion and move-in by year’s end, we sold our old home September 29, asking the Buyer to rent-back to us for up to 3 months. Then we got hit with “infrastructure snags” and move-in was delayed til May 2022. My monthly rent on the old home was $4,000/mo X 8 mos. That’s going to sting for some time to come.

Hi there, I am a real estate professional and the purchasing process was average, if not below average. The design center was fun and wish we had more options for things such as solid core doors, different texture, etc. At this price point you would think you’d have the option to select things like this. Onto the post-closing has been excellent and exceptional. Anytime I’ve had a problem, it’s been handled with no push back. This has made up for the upfront disappointment.

Did not enjoy the design center. The attitude of the designer made me think twice about any extras. Hence, I did the minimum. My son and I walked out shaking our heads.

Hmthe finish work is poor.

The overall homebuying experience was long and a little convoluted, which may have been in part due to the development being new and things still being worked out. An example is that I was told that I would have a backyard sprinkler station installed for me to use while looking at the model homes, but then told after I started the buying process that it was not part of the offering. I was also not too impressed with the Shea Mortgage folks and the amount of paperwork I had to continually update and resubmit, seemed very duplicative and time consuming. For a track home, the quality is pretty good, The most disappointing was the cracks in my garage cement, which I get will happen as the house ages, but it hasnt been that long. I pointed it out during the delivery and was told that the cracks were within tolerance and did not have to be fixed. The rest of the issues overall have been minor, with some electrical switches and fans not working properly. I do get the impression that they do want to fix things and make sure all is working properly, which helps with the trustworthiness and responsiveness scores. From the initial visit at Dunes the sales office did a great job reviewing the lots and the purchase process. Our experience with Shea mortgage was very disappointing, the agent had no clues to look into our credit and assets . I would not recommend working with the mortgage company. Once we got our loan approval from another agent, the home buying became fun, the design center agent was very helpful to select options , the walk through was absolutely incredible, very thorough, and educational .

Shea has a reputation for high quality homes, but our experience was different. Their vendors did a poor job on quality control across the board from cabinets to painting to cleanliness. They have been good about getting things fixed and repaired, but the experience has been disappointing.

They used a lot of extra material for the model home that I bought which I really did not like there was not any option to change any of it. Which I thought was not fair if I am paying $80000 Above the actual price due to upgrades I should have been able to make some changes They way I like it not to pay that much extra because someone else decided for me. The garage opening is super small. I wish they could make some changes to that every in and out of the garage is a challenge. And finally the loan department is not customer friendly at all. Shea seems more committed to the building process and following established protocol vs. delighting the customer when a problem surfaces or a simple request is made.

Beautiful layout and floor plan

Overall quality of home is very good. Warranty service on construction defects excellent. Value for money in today’s market is questionable, but that is an individual choice. Having owned 8 brand new homes in that last 49 years, Shes is good only disappointment is lack of attention to yards outdoors. Enough said.

I had to deal with a lot of issues after i moved in. for example; heater did not work, ring doorbell had an issue. issue with pool access. issue with HOA.

We had such a bad experience during our first move in week there was a leak they had to open the walls and fix a plumbing issue, making it harder with all things getting wet and damaged as well as carpet it was so hard to get it fixed I had to call numerous times because I expressed it was a safety Issue since I have two kids because it was open. I had to miss work to be home for them to come and fix it after a month making hard because with a new home comes a lot of new expenses. It felt like they hurried to finish and it would be nice to get some sort of credit because of time missed from work and the unprofessionalism. ... More

Three items: 1. Our experience to date with SheaConnect has not been pleasant. The WiFi shut down, taking the applications, plus our printer and the WiFi functions on my cell phone with it. 2. We can not add a security front door to our home because there is a beam on the ceiling that prevents a door from opening outward. I consider this a design flaw. 3. There is no electrical outlet on or in the area of the front porch. The steps are shaded and we need electric pads to melt snow and ice on the steps. Another flaw not obvious until winter arrives.

The sales team was outstanding, and structurally, we love the house. The floor plan works well for us, and the house itself is well built. But the quality and condition of the appliances is another story. The dishwasher and hot water heater were defective when installed and were not repaired promptly. The kitchen faucet turned on by itself, wasting considerable water. These things shouldn't be happening in an expensive, brand-new house.

We expected a lot more from Shea Homes, especially in quality of workmanship. The COVID excuse needs to stop, yes supply chain issues still exist but quality of workmanship should still be priority one. Everything was going great right up until 2 months prior to closing when oversight of final build went out the window, When we did a walk through and blue taped everything, hardly anything had been fixed when we closed and moved in, it literally looked like they just went in an removed all the taped items and called it good. The house was filthy with paint and paint can marks on the LVP flooring, dirt on floors and walls etc. We were shocked at how dirty the place felt. In fairness, Shea has been outstanding with our concerns, complaints and trying to make things right, but it has been a tremendous amount of work on our part to schedule all of these trades to come fix everything. ... Shea is already above the rest of the builders in Colorado. However, they are not fulling living up to their perceived reputation. Communication, communication, communication is big in the world between customers and the business. It is just as important internally in a business. Shea has a lot of work to do with communication. Lastly, I would say Shea could do a regular audit of their employees’ job performances. Of the handful of employees I interacted with, there were a couple that had competency issues with job duties. Aside from the previous faults, I do like my house and quality within.

The process was a bit confusing and some areas were rushed but overall we are happy to be in our new home. The warranty period has been good, having fixed the issues pretty quickly. Having the neighborhood gatherings sponsored by Shea was a nice touch to bring us all together and foster a community, not just people who live next to each other.

Shea homes has been a positive experience for us. Every person on Shea team has been great to work with.

The buying process was mostly good but at times we found it difficult to collaborate on issues or concerns and are still dealing with a couple of items. We're also very disappointed with the dual metro district situation and that added lifetime cost of ownership.

I want to share my experience with Shea Homes, highlighting both the positive aspects and the areas where communication and transparency could be significantly improved. From the beginning, I encountered challenges in selecting a floor plan. One of the most frustrating aspects was the lack of explanation as to why a balcony was not included in the design for the location I had chosen. I specifically wanted a balcony, but it wasn’t offered—and this important detail was never clearly communicated during the selection process. Another major concern arose when I discovered a $6,000 charge for a three-panel sliding glass door I did not request. It was automatically included in the home’s price, despite the absence of a balcony. Paying for an upgrade that serves no functional purpose felt unnecessary and unjustified, and again, there was no prior discussion or approval from my end. During the first walk-through, I identified numerous construction issues. Fortunately, the builder addressed them promptly, and I want to commend Vince, the superintendent, for his responsiveness and professionalism. However, the final walk-through was poorly communicated. I was not clearly informed about the timing or process, which left me confused and unprepared. After moving in, I was disappointed to discover the water in this area is extremely hard. I later learned—on my own—that Shea Homes offers a water softener installation during the building phase. Unfortunately, I was never informed of this option. Had I known, I would have absolutely included it, as hard water has a long-term impact on plumbing, appliances, and daily comfort. This lack of proactive communication resulted in a missed opportunity that continues to affect my home experience. Additionally, the post-move-in requirements from the Homeowners Association (HOA) added an unexpected layer of stress. I found it odd and somewhat unreasonable that homeowners are required to complete their yard landscaping within six months, yet the HOA’s own design approval process takes more than four weeks. On top of the delay, we were required to pay an additional fee for architectural design approval. The communication around this process was not smooth or supportive—it came across as demanding, without offering clear guidance or flexibility. I believe this process could have been handled more collaboratively to reduce unnecessary pressure on new homeowners. On a more positive note, I want to highlight the outstanding support I received from Mr. Will Duke, the warranty representative. He went above and beyond to resolve several post-move-in issues, including improperly installed bathroom drainage, water heater concerns, and electronic problems. His responsiveness, professionalism, and genuine concern for my satisfaction made a meaningful difference. I truly commend him for his dedication and customer care. Overall, while there were positive elements to my experience, including some helpful individuals along the way, I feel that several important details were either omitted or poorly communicated throughout the process. The lack of transparency around the balcony design, sliding door charge, water softener installation, and HOA landscaping requirements significantly impacted my overall satisfaction.
