I have had 3 water leaks in my apartment before I even moved in. I had work going on in my apartment for the first 30 days after I received the keys and was not compensated for anything. Very poor management. Would not recommend them again.

I purchased approx 10 plus residential homes, and Sheahome delivered the poorest house quality I have ever purchased. I think I requested 5-6 warranty services within one month.

salespeople did not communicate how viewable my yard would be to my neighbor

The inside of the home is very nice, and I'm happy with it; however, and it's a BIG ONE. When I walk to my back yard, my neighbors and I can see 100% of everyone's yard. There is zero privacy. They could have raised the fence or at least told me because had I known, I would not have purchased this condo.

Post sale support is not ideal

The post sale representative doesn't do his best job to inspect and verify if the issues have resolved. The manner is subpar and I don't feel respected as a shea home owner.

I have bought more than one Shea homes due to there quality and customer service and decided to buy this one too from Shea homes. Man what a big mistake, the sale person specially Cathy was just a pain. She made us feel so low from day one and more of a pain during closing. I couldn't understand why she makes stories and screams on you to get her point. I am never ever going to buy anymore homes from Shea just for that reason.

Home was delivered with a lot of visual imperfections (chips, dings, dents, etc) and things that were not fixed depsite notating them in the pre-close walk through. The superintendent called "Shorty" is incredibly rude and incompetent and less than helpful.

Disapppointed with the finishes on the house, seems very rough and ready. Since moving in, we’ve seen quite a lot of imperfections that overall just feel like the house was very rushed and little care was put into it.

To sum this up: the field people are terrible at quality control! Going back and forth 3-5 times for the same issue is poor management.

Thus far we are mostly enjoying our new home. However, the punch list and warranty process is terrible. They push you to close on your home but it is only 90% complete. There are many small details that are not complete and the fine details are of poor quality. Floor creaks, paint issues, exterior issues, door issues etc. They try to get things taken care of but just can't seem to get them resolved. They need to at least double if not triple the number of people they have for their construction punch list and warranty issues. We were only allowed in our home on Sunday's to inspect as the ...

The floor plans are great, everything else not so much

Pros 1.The Hyde floor plan in Luxe at Canyons is great and the main reason we bought the house. Cons in order of priority 1. Final Walkthrough and Handover : We are pretty disappointed with this process. Firstly the house lacked a professional deep cleaning and there was still a lot of dust and dirt from construction. Second about 90% issues we found in final walkthrough were not fixed before closing and these were not handed over to the warranty rep. We pretty much had to do this all over again with warranty rep at 1st month and many of these are still not fixed. Finally I am left ...

Three months later still dozens of items not fixed
- Dima Z.

Shea sales proudly proclaims their commitment to quality since 1800s. But that's where it stops. Three months after closing, dozens of items still aren't fixed, including some requested to be fixed prior to closing during the final walkthrough. Service appointments are often cancelled at the last minute (or just a no-shows). Those that do show up often don't actually fix what they were there to fix (but still close the tickets). Extremely poor workmanship throughout the house - pretty much every single wall and ceiling have dents, bumps, and mismatched/uneven paint. Just some of the bigger, ...

I don't know what I was expecting but the craftmanship and quality of the materials is pretty poor. If I had to do it over again I probably wouldn't go with a new build. I basically paid a premium for the community, not the house.

Shea Home Construction Problems
- Andreas K.
- Verified HomeBuyer
- January 31, 2023

several aspects of the construction as subpar. It seems that a lot of inexperienced sub-contractors used. For example, most doors/frames in my house were not plumbed and leveled properly so they do not close with an even reveal. There is not attention to detail. The subcontractor who installed the kitchen cabinets did a horrible job as the cabinets are not leveled correctly and the crown molding is not even.

Poor quality work on things like paint, cabinets, doors, flooring. In general workers don't seem to care and things are done poorly. Very poor communication from the construction team, and after closing we have long list of issues that we have no communication about, and have not gotten addressed.

Don’t Buy a Shea Home Without Hiring a General Contractor to Oversee Construction

I love the layout of my new home. Some materials are of high quality, however I have had problems with every single trade. I found electrical that was not to code and hazardous when using my own electrician to install ceiling fans. The LVP flooring was very poorly installed with multiple gaps. The painters were horrific and got paint on cabinets, towel bars, flooring, all of the light switches… Many walls did not receive two coats of paint. I hired my own painters to re-paint. Plumbing issues. The list goes on and on. I’ve had way too many issues. Shea has been fairly responsive. I would have ...

Excellent sales team - great to work with. Always promptly got answers to any questions. Building team - average. Seemed to do a good job EXCEPT in a couple of instances - once the wrong product was installed and they resisted correcting it (I had to repeatedly say it must be addressed), once when they installed something in the wrong location that was specified in the contract and they resisted correcting it (I had to point out legal agreement twice before correction made), Post purchase team - horrible. Working with Gretchen, our designer, was great and Shannon was good too. However, once we moved in, there were a number of problems found which I doubt any inspections were even done from any of the work that was done. After two months, we still have some major issues including cracked, chipped, missing stones w/ discolored grout and our back wall having water damage already from the neighbors higher up causing some flooding. This should have had a proper seal from our ground up 3 bricks to where the neighbor ground level. We have had other issues but they are too many to list here. Some of ...

Horrible experience from the loan process until today 2 months after move in. The quality of the home is not worth the price. Everyday we have at least 2 repair men coming in to fix problems. The house we paid for is not what we got. We have spent the last two months putting money into the house to get the options that we wanted and some we paid for and did not receive. Even the Home Pro products are not good quality to include the door bell. Every disappointed.

Catherine in sales is very courteous, professional and very responsive. The builder Matt, was generally not receptive to patent errors and in some instances expressed irritation when it was pointed out e.g. unlevelled flooring, narrow doorway where a person could barely fit through (eventually fixed) , framed out closets (eventually fixed) etc. Currently the soil around the walkway is greatly eroded due to a couple of rains exposing the cement underneath. Oven doesn't turn on. Broken diswasher installed at closing and was replaced after closing. Roof on walkway needs the flushing to be ...

We worked with Shea in the Littleton area for a new home build, and the purchase, design, and build were amazing!! The sales team was great in answering questions, providing info, and generally making the whole process feel smooth, but after they delivered the house we got to see the other side of Shea, and it has left us with buyer's remorse. The warranty team does not seem to know what is going on, and love to hide behind "supply chain" and "Covid Delays" we have been waiting 3 months for the kitchen appliances which have still not been installed. Do not be the first in new phase - many issues

We were the first house to be delivered in a new phase and very openly felt like Shea delivered us the home too early. There were many issues with the house that we are still working on fixing over a month later. We don't even have a mailbox yet and have to pick up our mail from the post office! The home was not setup with usps so we could not get internet service until after we moved in. The OneTouch experience to setup all our home was difficult to coordinate and we still don't have everything setup. Overall we have not been pleased with the experience we sold vs. what Shea delivered.

To whom it may concern, I am writing an open letter regarding our disappointing experience buying our brand new Shea home in the new community of Côta Vera. We were fortunate enough to be in phase one, and although we knew phase one would come with delays and some issues (we were also phase one in the Escaya community), we never expected to have this many issues. As far as delays, there were way more than expected. We closed on our home at the end of March, and when we signed the purchase agreement we were told the anticipated closing would be towards the end of December. That being said, ...

This was not the greatest home buying experience. I've bought 3 previous new builds and have never had the lack of communication and lack of attention to details during the building process and up until final walk through. Shea takes entirely too long to build a home in comparison to Perry, Drees and Highland in this particular area. Once moved in, my warranty representative found a list of things that needed to be addressed and redone on top of the things that were not addressed during the build. The warranty representative is OUTSTANDING!!! She has addressed all details in a timely manner ...
