I purchased my home from Shea at end of sept 2022. I love my home. Shea made the whole buying process extremely easy and every step of the way each employee was responsive and very kind. Even after my home buying experience the warranty rep has treated me the same way. It has been an effortless process, my hardest experience was staying on the wait list to get my lot and then waiting for my home to be built. This is my second new home in 7 years. I built with another builder for my previous home and my experience buying my first new home was very poor along with their warranty service. My new home with Shea is built as solidly as the model I walked through several times. Highly highly recommend Shea. The positives. Shea builds a good home, and their staff is friendly and largely helpful. Issues encountered along the way in construction and close inspection were addressed timely. My issues have mostly been around post close items. The landscaper (TLB) didn’t follow up per 30 day. It took repeated outreaches to get them scheduled to resolve issues, and they’re still not fully addressed, and communication is very poor. Overall, I’d recommend others to Shea, but Shea should utilize their leverage with TLB to ensure the full experience is positive.

The process was fairly well orchestrated throughout the months it took to complete. There were problems encountered outside the builder’s control that could have been better communicated but the overall experience was a good one with very positive results.

I highly recommend Shea. The design, tech and building experience has been amazing.

My husband and I had a great home buying experience with Shea Homes! Our home did get delayed a few weeks but we were kept up to date on the progress. Micah also always responded quickly to all questions and concerns we had. We are so grateful and happy with our home!

I encourage buyers to document conversations about color schemes and upgrades especially if the home is flipped from the model. Don’t trust that the electrician at the designer will remember that your home is flipped from the model. Also, get clarification about membership dues and the three HOA fees and assessments up front! Knowing what I know now, would I do it again? Probably not.

Overall we are pleased with the price for the quality. We did not like the lack of communication and taking sometimes 2 weeks to get a response to a question. We also only got updates every 2 weeks by email, no calls, no customer service in that regard. Most emails were along the lines of "hey we got your framing done, next is air conditioning" with no timeline, no response to my question on when the hvac crew would be there. They never confirmed anything related to the schedule until it was already completed. I spoke with their Director of Construction Shawn and he was short, wouldn't offer any information on when they were scheduling tasks to be completed and essentially laughed when I asked for a concession because we were told at contract 7-9 months when it took 12 months and 9 days from contract to closing. At the end, we are paying $700 more a month because they could not complete the home in 9 months or less due to interest rates. I have spent 20 years in the residential construction and home building business and this was not the norm even with the supply chain and labor struggles in the market. The super that finished our home didn't complete 75% of the list we made 8 days before closing. On the final sign off the day before closing we noted most of those items and the painters had shown up as we were leaving. Not the way to do business and we spent most of the 12 months frustrated with Shea Homes and there just wasn't much we could do about it. Here we are 2 months post closing and we still are waiting another week to get the items that were supposed to be done prior to closing completed. ... More

From sales people (Philipp, Patti) to Arielle, to construction workers (Mannie, etc), to follow-up (Roy, Albert), have always been helpful, and responded positively, professionally, and personably. Great crew. I felt that in construction, some of the wood used in framing wasn't quite up to par, but I understand the delays, etc because of the Pandemic--as well as not always getting the best people to do the work. We'll forgive you: Shea is a great builder!

Going through the “lottery” experience was quite new, exciting, even though it took 3 tries. I almost dropped out of the running. But now I’m in a lovely home just right for me. I trusted Trilogy since I chose a home that didn’t have a model available to walk through. My mortgage company worked well with Trilogy. Only comment the upgraded “Shea” shower could be more solid and outside the air conditioning unit of my neighbor is right out my patio door. However I do love all my upgrades.

My superintendent, Ryan, that worked with me during the project was triple A. He was all over everything and should be commended. 3 disappointments. 1) Quality of actual paint should be upgraded. Pulls off with blue tape, feels cheap. 2)This is our 2nd Shea House in 2 years. We built in the Canyons in Colorado. Better trades in Colorado than AZ. Cleaner workmanship. Oh well. Our 2nd bath, bath tubs, weren't covered during construction with cardboard and got scratched in Colorado. We warned Trilogy VR super of same possibility and got deaf ears. Scratches again, difficult to fix. Unnecessarily annoying. This was our 10th new build and have experienced this before. Seems like a simple fix to me. 3) We used your pool guy CalPools. Pool, hot tub, fire pit, outdoor grill. Nobody recommended to upgrade propane tank size. Our first pool. I learned our 120 gallon tank is filled to only 95 gallons. Pool heater burns 6 gallons per hour according to AZ Gas . The math doesn’t work well. We ran out of gas after turning on heater for pool for what seemed like 6-8 hours. Big surprise. Somebody from Shea Sales, or initial Shea construction meeting, or Shea landscape meeting, should have pointed this out to us. Now I have to tear up the landscaped front yard and deal with all sorts of companies to get this approved and remodeled. Now I am at the mercy of their pricing and owning an extra 120 gallon propane tank. Frankly, it is borderline unexcusable considering how many pools Shea has been involved with. Overall very pleased with house and Lala is doing her best to take care of warranty issues. The Shea landscaper did above average job, but has been very cooperative and accommodating since we moved in. Love the appreciation. Do the right thing and share the cost with the Pickleball Club and build some desperately needed extra courts. Embrace the opportunity to get some very good press about building more courts. Don't risk the potential for bad press if you don't help the club with more courts. It could get ugly for you. Turn this opportunity to a positive so you can crow about how Shea has recognized how big this sport has become for their Trilogy residents. Don't let the opposite happen. The sport has become huge for this demographic. We already have club state champions! ... More

Great team, from the sales representative to the builder as well as the warranty team. Warranties are amazing, every small detail found after moving in was handled promptly.

Our experience with Shea was wonderful. All the people we came in contact with were very professional and knew their jobs. From construction to design Shea was there for us. Problems were addressed and solved to our satisfaction. Rob our contractor was good at detail and finishing the job. Highly recommend Shea to build your next home

The ladies in the office were extremely pleasant and very helpful. They gave us and continue to give us lots of useful information.

The communication throughout the process was amazing..Everyone I dealt with was very helpful and you could tell they really cared about making sure our questions needs were meet.

This is our third house build (our first Shea build) and our best experience to date. We've built in Austin, TX, Huntington Beach, CA and now here, in the desert. We are used to working with builders and dealing with unexpected delays, materials that are out of stock, water/power not ready to be set up yet and various other challenging situations. The way that the entire Shea team dealt with us during these unexpected and unwanted moments is what stands out the most compared to other builds. Your entire team’s professionalism, personal touch, willingness to listen to us and hear us vent. and going out of their way to try to correct problems that were sometimes out of both of our controls, made this experience the best. A special call out to the following individuals that stood out and went above and beyond during this process – Lisa our sales associate who from our first visit spent the time to get to know us, learned what we liked, didn’t like, and guided us in the direction that she knew would make us happy as we built our next home. Even after the sales process and when we had already moved into our new home, she included us in a mixer at the club so that we could meet new neighbors. It was a nice gesture, very much appreciated and yes, she knows us! Ryan our builder who under promised and completely over delivered. He came through each time we had a concern about something, regardless of how small, and made sure we got the home we spec’d out. Richard our warranty guy who spent hours going through the details of the home and answering our smallest questions making sure we were going to be ready when he handed over the keys. Debbie our design specialist who helped us duplicate and mirror your model home and helped us pick the materials that make our home standout. A callout to the cabinet guy that came and fixed our kitchen cabinet that I accidently scratched during our move-in day. He came out of nowhere after Richard called him and fixed my mistake. I wish I remembered his name. We will absolutely recommend a Shea home to our family, friends and whoever wants to listen. ... More

The Shea Team! Isaac, Cody, Brian, Josh, Bernedette, June, Jinny, from the initial visit to the office through the complete moving the Shea team is the best. Isaac particular attends to many matters. Despite his very busy schedule he goes way over the call of duty is to help us. Having purchased new houses from two other nationwide builders, Shea homes is the best and they try to please the clients very well. The quality for building material and the workmanship gets five stars. We ordered options which are way beyond normal! The builder and the delivery team did a superb job delivering these items (despite the pandemic) in a timely manner. Post delivery/moving Isaac and team did a superb job. Thank you Isaac. ... More

David was a pleasure to deal with during the purchase and closing. Richard did a great job managing the build. Brandon has been very responsive to warranty issues and any of our other concerns. Great experience. The only reason why I dinged the quality of workmanship is because I do think they did a poor job finishing our driveway. It looks like a hurried and inconsistent finish which can happen when subs have multiple pours in a day. Again, everyone at Shea that we have dealt with has been a pleasurable experience. I would highly recommend Shea to friends and family, only able to speak on the amazing team of David, Richard and Brandon, but I would think the other teams would be just as fantastic. ... More

Overall, we had a pleasant experience purchasing our home at Trilogy. From the initial sales to the warranty department everyone was trustworthy and helpful. The quality of workmanship and materials were good for the price that we paid—-except for the painting. The paint job was extremely sloppy and poorly done. It looked like they barely covered the surface with the paint and there was paint slopped all over the edges of the floors and left to dry. There were obvious parts of the trim that had been damaged and it looked like they repaired it by filling in the bad portions and then left it rough without sanding yet. Parts of the trim looked like they painted over existing dirt and debris from the construction without wiping it off first. The corners of the trim had rough edges, and were not completely painted. Paint was dripped and spilled on my patio bricks. The large glass sliding wall was covered with overspray on the frame. The painters that came out to repair the paint damage did an excellent job. However, it was impossible for them to get the paint off of the bricks on my patio and I was told that they could not get the paint off the edges of my new flooring— that is left for me to do Though they did their best on getting off the overspray my sliding wall frame does not look new. The concrete on my front porch is stained with another substance that isn’t paint. So far that has not been removed. ... More

I've waited until now to complete this review, as we've been away since September, after officially closing on July 4th 2022. We began the process in 2020-2021 and experienced many delays, thru the pandemic, lack of supplies, labor, etc... For the most part the process has been adequate, having never built a home before, I don't have a reference. I with the Design Day had included the exterior of our Resort Model, as there were a few structural things that weren't discussed and weren't done when we took possession last June. We're still waiting on those to be complete. We are ready to come back in January, I hope they will be done by then. It's also already time for our 5-6 month Inspection. I feel these things could have easily been accomplished before now. Looking forward to working out a few of these details. ... More

The agent we worked with was Leslie & she was outstanding from beginning to end. We waited a long time to get notified & the prices of the models kept going up substantially. We love our new house, but there are many flaws in the painting, cabinetry, stucco. Shea seems to do a good job in getting those flaws fixed with Will & Matt.

Poor workmanship. Many things were rushed, and it shows.

We looked for a couple years before deciding on an Encanterra home- unfortunately our timing gave us a lottery as are only option for a home. We won our pick and were so excited except it took 7 mo longer to build than expected. Our salesman was the best and so patient with the time, questions and our needs along the way. Unfortunately, we have had many issues with our new build that need attention. Our pergola is the wrong size, our oven broke, our garage door opens randomly and the list goes on. I think there was a rush to finish a lot of the new buildings, so quality and dependability suffered. Our building coordinator has had her hands full with all of our issues- and has been great and efficient attending to our needs- but had the house been built properly, she wouldn’t have to back track on so many issues. Thankfully, we have a year warranty- so that gives some piece of mind to what’s been very frustrating and unexpected ... More
