Overall a good experience but definitely room for improvement. Little things like a tiny chip in our countertop that we reported right away and were told it wasn’t covered under warranty. It’s a small thing that would take a few minutes to repair and go a long way to show the homeowner they matter after closing.

Jaime was very healthy in sales office and Brooke was outstanding seeing things that needed corrected at the one month repair period.

Great place to spend the quieter stage of life

Sales was extraordinary making it possible to relocate from VA. Would have been impossible without Margie’s help. Mortgage lending was extremely supportive and innovative. Found a very creative mortgage that was ideal for us! Field mgr was awesome. Jason was a 12 on a 1-10 scale. I’ve built 6 new homes, Jason was by far the best. TLB landscaping is outstanding! Both price and quality exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend to our neighbors!! Very happy with workmanship. Attention to details immaculate. Design outstanding. I give the Homebuying experience 4 stars. The only drawback I experienced with the Shea company was that they do not go "out of the box". When you make a request, it was 100% denied. Boundaries were set, and they do not budged, and stayed within the lines. Sometimes, you need to give a little leeway...which would have made the experience a bit more personal, understanding, and not just another transaction with the seller. Other than that, I enjoyed working with your outstanding employees, particularly April, Trisha, Alicia, Frankie, Ryan, and Todd. Thank you.

We really liked that Shea had the different stage reviews, in the building process. Especially showing us the walls before closing with sheet rock. This helped in making decision's of where to place things on the walls. It would have been nice, if during the building process, we could have added solar and or if that had been an option. Especially here in Arizona. Otherwise, everything was great. And the superintendent Alexis was GREAT to work with.

The closing process was difficult due to items not in place that Shea should have known about and senior executives did not respond to emails. The options selections process was also complicated as the team really didn't know about some options and that knowledge would have changed some of the items I selected (the Design Joy catalog was not accurate). That said, now that I'm in, I love the house. Quality is quite good and the construction foreman (Andrew) was great. The delivery team (headed by Vicki) is awesome and she is the most responsive person I have met.

Nellie made sure that we knew all of our options and helped us choose the home model of our dreams and that which we could afford. Since we moved from the northeast, we were limited in our ability to fly down and track the progress. Nellie made herself available for us, by phone, text and in-person. Carolyn Ann gave us regular updates on the build and inspection processes. She, too, was responsive to our calls and texts, and she made herself available when we were able to fly down to see the house in different stages. The homebuying process was smooth with good customer service. The house is well-built and made from quality materials, but some design flaws leave a bit of an unpleasant aftertaste. For example, a few awkward door swings, a poorly placed light switch, and a strange kitchen layout make you wonder if the home design was tested for functionality. Some of these issues were addressed and modifications were accepted, but some other issues were simply ignored.

Throughout the buying and building experience I was kept informed of progress and given realistic deadlines. Most of my issues have been with the appliances. In general the fit and finish are very good.

We had a great experience working with Josh on the home purchasing side of things. He was very helpful and worked with us on our relocation. The experience with him was great. When the house was turned over, Josh was very helpful with going thrugh the property and was helpful with the small things right when we moved it. Where things feel short was the details. With a house at the pricepoint we purchased at, there were just too many small things missed that we had and are having to get addressed. I feel its the details. I also felt we go the same quality if not lower in some of the items compaired to lower price point new contruction homes we have had in the past. I expected to have some upgrades and they just were not there. Issues being addressed right when we moved in were done promptly. Our one month issues have not been addressed promptly and the workers did not show up when they were supposed to, to address the issue and it took longer than expected ... More

My house was selected prior to a model being built..I picked out brick for the outside with the sales office..after the house was built I was told my model couldn’t have brick on the outside..if I had been informed I would have chosen a different house…thus, my house has no curb appeal even after I paid an extra 20,000 for the lot that now has a very large apartment complex behind it.. I was told there would be trees and landscaping…as of now just weeds

We are very happy with our new home. The quality of material and products used is very good. The few, very minor, issues we've come across have been quickly addressed and rectified. Our construction field manager, Brad, has been nothing short of fantastic. Right from the start, he has been accessible and responsive to all of our concerns, which was greatly appreciated since we were coming from out of state. Overall, I'd say it's been really good home-buying experience.

Not pleased with the quality of the finishes and appliances at this price point

We are very pleased with the house we bought and are overall satisfied with the quality of the construction and the responsiveness of the aftermarket team. Our inspector did not find any major issues, and Peyton was quick to fix them before closing. After we moved in, some minor things have come up and Carlos has helped us fix them promptly. Our buying process was not what we had expected, mainly due to the treatment we received from the sales agent Theary. All through, we felt as if we were asking her for a favor and received a push back on every single request. I’m satisfied with the home. Didn’t care for the building experience. It was extremely stressful. I’m still dealing with issues from the build, having to turn in warranty request to get items corrected!

We`ve been very pleased with Shea

I searched the Winchester VA area online for 55+ communities, including with Google Earth at street level. The latter was very little help because Trilogy east is still under construction. The Shea website for Lake Frederick was most helpful for previews and prices of models. Dan Wall was very helpful through the contract process. Sight and Sound failed me, my agent actually forgot to order my television equipment. Their Techs showed up and had no television to install.

The house has a good arrangement which is helpful to rent. I like it. Shushan

Pros: quality of work is good. Shea builds good solid homes. I think this is developing into a really good community. They have been responsive to issues, and they are fixing. The warranty specialist is super friendly, does a good job making his rounds and getting things fixed. Value for price is good for this area and only getting more expensive. Has a community pool and developing pocket parks. The folks in the model home offices are very nice friendly and helpful, even after you move in, they are there to assist if you have any questions. Has an HOA Cons: Water heater is electric which is fine, but it is really noisy as the built in fan has to run for an hour or more every time you take a shower or use hot water. And the water heater is situated near the bedrooms or next to an office which will run at night or morning and makes it difficult to work or you have to have your bedroom door closed in order to relax in your room or sleep. Note that you cannot have a full salt soft water system installed which is tricky to keep your appliances and faucets clear from hard water deposits. You have to maintain and or eventually replace faucets which is really unfortunate. Would be nice if they could add sport courts such as pickle ball/tennis courts etc. as there are not many things to do in the area that are walking distance. Has an HOA I would give it 5 stars if it wasn't for the water Heater and not being able to set up a full salt soft water system. ... More

So the worst part of our experience was the design center. Shea only offered packages for designs. We have built numerous homes, and this was the worst experience. There were things we didn't want that came with the package. Home could have been cleaned a bit better. Painters were terrible with not using drop clothes, so LOTS and LOTS of white paint specs all over the wood floors.
