I have been living in the Cay since March. During this period of time, I have scheduled for three major repairs: the laundry room leaking, kitchen hood no ventilation, the AC unit leaking. All three problems were caused by workmanship not material itself. The worst experience is noise level from construction. Shea Home could have done better if considering strategically new phase construction impact to customers who are living in the closed phases. Workers started work at 7 am with loud machinery noise and unbearable dust. Very disturbing!

Our home is still missing items. Other homes around us that are being completed have the items we are missing, yet we are constantly being told that we have to wait due to shortages. Do not accept your home if not 100% complete or you will be treated like a second rate human when it comes to getting the home completed as promised. We were so excited to buy our new home and especially it being a Shea Home, but have been treated like second rate humans after receiving our home. Most of our house is great. The quality of most of what we have is awesome. But the details do matter and it does feel like we have some issues that Shea just isn't able to resolve -- Starting with the fact that our carpet is ruined after less than 2 months because it's impossible to clean, it pills constantly. And when it pills, it runs and loses its pattern for inches that are very noticeable. Our appliances don't match - for some inexplicable reason. And despite every attempt to get our "smart house" to connect our outlets to the app provided, we still have issues with these light ...

The quality from model home to residential home is unexpectedly lower. The finish trades are not as high quality as they were in the model homes. Disappointing ! Richard has done everything possible to get the trades to complete work orders, sometimes they just don’t show up.

Little to no oversight over any of the trades

The buying process with Owen was exceptional. The design center process was rushed and way too many options in models were no longer available, making decisions very frustrating. Since we were local, we were able to find issues to be corrected readily. Primarily because we kept issues on our field manager’s plate did we end up with a home with most item’s resolved. Working with Joe to fix first month problems worked great.

Let me start by saying that my wife and I love the area, neighbors, and the model home we selected. We also appreciate many of the Shea associates who helped us along the new home journey. With that being said, unfortunately in my opinion the quality that was touted prior to building has left us very disappointed especially for the amount of money you are spending to purchase your new home. Building a new home during a Pandemic has proved challenging as many materials have been a challenge to source. Many shortages which resulted in delays and possibly affected the quality of workmanship and materials resulting in some re-work. Overall, we are happy with our new home.
