The house is great, however, there where some issues that need to be resolved

Shea Finance was terrible we ended up not using them and had to pull money from savings to pay cash for house. Never recommend anyone to deal with Shea on the financial side.

Builder made my lending from builder quite easy and painless.

We got off to a rough start with Shea. We selected the Latigo model at original document signing, only to find out 4 weeks afterward that Shea did not include cabinets in the Casita nor would Shea install cabinetry in the Casita. No one ever said a word about this, not our sales rep or any of the staff in the model home. And the models had no signage indicating such. We felt that was very misleading. When I tried to reason with Melissa T. about this issue, she gave me a car purchasing analogy that I found a bit insulting considering the amount of money we were spending. When Shea started the build, the foundation was put in the wrong place and our friends noticed the placement and contacted us. Fortunately, I had the correct plot plan and was able to get it to Abbey and Shea before the concrete was poured. This delayed our build 6 weeks and there was no apology, no compensation, nothing from Shea except an "Oops". Strike 2. That was souring. Working with the designers was unusual since we had to make all the aesthetic selections on line due to the quarantine, but we were able to finish. Angela was excellent. Shea built our home with all the correct selections. We will have to see how it fares living in it. I have already noticed some sloppy craftsmanship around the window installs. Large gaps between the stucco were filled in with caulking. Definitely not fine home building there. I will address this on our 6 month walk through (or whatever the month walk through coming up). Shea's sales, project management, and warranty team were great. Trade work wasn't what I am use to for a Shea product.

OK with most issues concerning the Model house we bought. Having trouble with TESLA over solar panel exchange from SHEA to our own account.

The home is lovely. Some tweaks, of course. But while they were building, we were buying furnishings and getting ready to fill the house appropriately. Since there was no model of the Liberty design here, we relied on the floor plan and virtual tours of Liberty’s online. The dining light was 8 ft. From the wall. But here it was hung 5 ft. From the wall, contrary to the videos and tours. They said it was according to the plans. Apparently Shea advertises one thing and delivers something different. In this case, a dining chandelier that is in the wrong place. They refuse to admit the impracticality of the placement, claiming the blueprints were followed. We feel strongly that because every virtual tour of the Liberty shows it 8 feet from the wall should mean they should have to move our Liberty chandelier to 8 feet from the wall. They admit it is not in a usable spot, but say the blueprints were followed. Then CHANGE THE BLUEPRINTS...and move our chandelier to where it should be! ... More

The hardware for all cabinets and drawers were not an option. Cabinet and drawer pulls are necessary but not provided. Was not given option to add electrical outlets (buyer needed) while building. Costed more to cut through drywall to add later. These are simple things that Shea could have provided that would make a lot a difference to a home buyer.

We have had a brake down with first review issues being completed.I have to mention outside paint job was not close to your standards.

Sale staff exceptional in all phases.. making the process less stressful..

Originally Shea didn't want us to close in mid-December until a much delayed garage door arrived and was installed. They finally agreed to install an alternative garage door to allow us to proceed with our closing. That was much appreciated. Our garage door finally arrived over a month later and was installed but had two damaged panels. Replacement panels arrived damaged. We are now approaching a three month wait without an acceptable door. We've asked our damaged door to be painted the proper color to allow our home to appear completed from a distance, but Shea has refused.

Communication from the Sales Department has been exceptional. Understanding that we purchased our home at the onset of the COVID Pandemic, there have been some challenges; communication from trades & completion of punchlists have been the largest hurdle. All in all, we love our home and have enjoyed the process.

Don’t use Shea mortgage! And upgrade options are very overpriced. Things that can be done later, such as landscaping, are better to do on your own.

Shea builds a good product. We purchased a model home in Gateway Quarter and although it was priced as-is, the prep of repairing items such as holes in the wall and paint matching was not good. Promises regarding the replacement of dead landscaping were not kept.

Overall, better than our last builder.

New home met our expectations. A few minor issues; however, response to service requests have been slow or ignored altogether. Leaves a sour note on an otherwise good experience.

Everything is good, but wooden material should be more good. During my first visit I saw wooden logs are dent and damage some places. Else it was good experience.

Builds a basic house with few frills, but some questionable "upgrades" ill suited to the Va. climate.

Sales process and team were great and very responsive. The customer service person, Troy, who we've done walk-thoughs with is also exceptional. He listens, validates, responds with corrective actions.

Service rep. Informed us of scheduled repairs but no one showed up. He forgot to send work orders to vendors. Work was eventually completed. Lag time from request to completion can be a few weeks.

Have been in my home for two months. Had a plumbing leak that was quickly fixed and some other relative minor issues. Some exterior trim work was poorly done for the price of the house I feel. Responsiveness to issues has been excellent so far. I think more time is needed in the home for a truly accurate review.

Shea homes have a reputation for building a well constructed home and that’s why I chose them over other developers in the area. Great club house with many classes to choose from.

The process of buying the house was good. It was not easy but it is long and gone through step by step process. The only thing I was hoping about the property tax amount should have been mentioned clearly during initial days of the purchase of the house when they have sold many house in the same complex. The amount was not clear until last min to us. Except that I had good experience in buying the house with Shea.

While the sale of the house and responsiveness to issues is actually very excellent. I feel the quality of work was very poor and attention to detail was extremely lacking. Having to work through all the issues and make sure they get resolved seems like it could have been avoided had the work been checked thoroughly before signing off on it. Customer care rep. Dominick has been very helpful though to make sure work will be repaired to customer satisfaction and always follows through with requests.

Shea is a production builder and inflexible to offer any options outside its standard ones. In some cases, like placing electrical outlets, they are very flexible, but in other cases, like flooring, appliances or kitchen/bathroom cabinetry, the choices are too constraining, staying within a single quality line from the manufacturer used (Wellborn in my case) and not offering true premium products. If you are OK with doing post-closing remodeling, then you can benefit from some of the things Shea does right, like overall great home layout, tankless water heater, and energy efficient house, which is very important. ...
