A Community Built on Tradition. The community was established back in 1824 by Churchill Fulshear, one of Stephen F. Austin’s Old Three Hundred settlers. Originally centered around cotton and flour, the area experienced a boom in 1888 when Churchill Fulshear Jr. granted right-of-way to the San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway. By 1900, the town boasted 11 stores, three saloons, a post office, a school and a hotel. Over the past century, the town has been able to maintain its small-town charm. It remains a center for locally produced rice, cotton, soybeans, corn, poultry, pecans and cattle. Find Your Playground. Relax at the fireplace, play cards, enjoy televised games—residents can enjoy it all by reserving the lodge. With stunning views of Huggins Lake, it’s a memorable setting for wedding receptions, social events and friendly gatherings. The fitness center is open early and late for those seeking more strenuous activity. Outside, there’s croquet, bocce ball, hiking and a playground. Our fitness center has a variety of cardio and strength training equipment open early and late. Residents have access by using their key cards during the hours seen below. The Fitness Center Hours: 5 am – 10 pm daily. Pool. Cool off next to the Lodge and fitness center with a swim in our pool. New resort-style pool now open for 2016 swim season! 2016 Pool Hours: Monday – Closed (for cleaning), Tuesday – Sunday 10 am – 8 pm
