Moving into your new home is exciting – but the boxes, packing tape and chaos? Not so much. Here’s how to simplify the move-in process so you can enjoy that first morning waking up in your brand-new space.

Pack smarter.

  • Keep essentials in an expandable file (birth certs, passports, closing docs).

  • Color-code boxes – one color for each room.

  • Trash bags are a quick help with bedding or as garment bags.

  • Declutter and donate.

  • Start packing a month out.

Move efficiently.

  • More hands + pizza = faster move.

  • Pre-decide furniture placement.

  • Vet movers early.

Prep the home.

  • Set up utilities and internet a week ahead.

  • Wipe shelves, install new air filters.

Settle fast.

  • Pack a first-night box: toiletries, bedding, snacks, comfort items.

  • Set weekly unpacking goals.

  • Throw a housewarming party= motivational deadline.

New-Construction Tips

  • Complete a thorough walkthrough and photograph issues.

  • Use runners, pads and corner guards to protect brand-new finishes.

  • Measure doorways, stairwells and appliance openings.

  • Set up smart-home features and change temporary passwords.

Fresh start. Stress less.
