Conveniently located only 30 minutes away from downtown Austin, Peninsula at Plum Creek allows residents to be on the outskirts of a large city while still being part of a growing urban community. Empire Homes, formally known as Empire Communities, purchased locally-owned Centerra Homes in 2018. Since its creation in 1993, Empire has built over 20,000 houses in Texas, with another 10,000 already in the works, including those in the Peninsula at Plum Creek subdivision.

Empire emphasizes sustainable, innovative designs, “where smart space planning and quality building meet.” In Peninsula at Plum Creek, they are offering homeowners the option to choose between 12 different floor plans starting in the $200s. There’s no shortage of amenities and activities available at Peninsula! Located on the Plum Creek Golf Course, Peninsula residents have convenient access to the 18-hole course, which spans over 7,100 yards.

Schools

Peninsula at Plum Creek is part of Hays CISD, which has 19,859 students spanning across 24 campuses. At the time of this writing, Hays CISD has earned a solid B rating on the Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR) performance, which is an improvement over the district’s C rating last year.

Elementary School

Students start their academic careers at Laura B. Negley Elementary School, located at 5940 McNaughton. Negley opened its doors in 2006, and 850 students attend from Pre-K to 5th grade. As far as school performance, Negley has received an A rating two school years in a row. This includes an impressive 100/100 in the Closing the Gaps category, which is defined as measuring “the percentage of different groups of students that performed above state goals in four areas.”.

Middle School

For grades 6 – 8, students attend Barton Middle School, where their motto is “Dream. Explore. Achieve.” Located at 4950 Jack C. Hays Trail in Buda, TX, Barton has 805 students enrolled as Bobcats. Like Negley Elementary School, Barton has a solid A rating, with particular acclaim for performances in math and science.

High School

For grades 9 – 12, students enroll at Hays High School, located at 4800 Jack C. Hays Trail in Buda. Hays High School has a B rating, and has seen an increase in overall rating points from 83 to 87 in the past two school years. 2,961 students are currently enrolled, and these Rebels (their mascot, not a phase) have scored high academic achievement in mathematics.
