Bathrooms are undergoing a luxurious transformation in 2025, featuring custom finishes, smart technology, textures, and distinctive patterns that elevate the space into a deserving retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
At the recent International Builders Show in Las Vegas, designers Christopher Grubb of Arch-Interiors Design Group Inc. and Jennifer Farrell of Jennifer Farrell Designs presented to an audience of building and design professionals, offering guided inspiration in a session titled “20X20 Story: High Style Bathrooms - What’s Hot and What’s Not.”
The lightning-fast presentation offered industry members plenty of inspiration (40 trends in total). It will interest homeowners looking to focus design efforts on creating an indulgent bathroom sanctuary with personal touches.
Here are some of the most exciting luxury bathroom trends they presented.

A Desire For Customization
Possibly the strongest luxe bath trend is the desire for bespoke, highly customized spaces. Split or multiple finishes are one example of this customization. Custom niches are also trending. They are seeing many of their clients playing with the scale of different hardware sizes, with consistent finishes, for an extra layer of customization. Custom plating is trending, particularly with two-tone metals.
Lots of Wood
Historically, wood has not been prominent in bath design because of ever-present moisture, but is used in luxury bathrooms. Wood grains typically vary regionally across the country. In addition to natural wood grain, homeowners are embracing texture with more timber. Wood-look parquet floors and faux-wood showers are trending, which feature wood-look tiles designed to withstand the water stream better.

Dramatic Jewel Box Powder Rooms
Luxe finishes are not limited to primary and guest baths. The powder room is receiving high-end treatment in 2025 as well, showcasing a rise in popularity for jewel box powder rooms. Jewel box powder rooms resemble a design-themed treasure hunt, featuring indulgent finishes, metallics, bold colors and patterns, as well as opulent details, all within a tiny space, much like a jewel box.
Specific Smart Tech
Smart technology has become a popular feature in luxury bathrooms due to its ability to enhance comfort, convenience, and sustainability. At present, several innovations are gaining traction. Smart glass, which allows a pane to transition from opaque to clear and everything in between on demand, is particularly trending for windows and shower doors. Additionally, look for technology that seamlessly integrates into your design, such as countertops with built-in charging stations.
Designing Around Natural Light
Access to natural light is essential in health and wellness design, and to transform a luxury bath into a restorative retreat, natural light is crucial. Clients are incorporating significant amounts of natural light in their bathrooms, regardless of the climate.
Geometric Tile And Organic Shapes
Geometric designs are popping up everywhere in the market, especially in tiles and accessories. Amorphic, amoebic, and asymmetric styles are currently trending. Organic shapes are prevalent and influence specific products and design placements.

Surfaces: Natural Stone Over Quartz And Desire For Texture
The major trend in surfaces remains a preference for natural stone over quartz, partly due to health and safety concerns regarding the fabrication of engineered stone. Additionally, natural stone caters to homeowners' strong desire for customization and personal expression. Another significant trend in surfaces is the growing affinity for textured tiles and materials, along with a nostalgic return to travertine, due to its visually tactile quality.
Satin Brass, White, Gray Are Out
Just as color has recently made a comeback in kitchens, especially with cabinetry, it is also making a strong entrance in bathroom design. Likewise, according to Grubb, satin brass, which has been popular for some time, is being replaced by satin bronze.
Pattern Play
Taking advantage of the growing maximalism trend, using patterns or multiple patterns has become popular. It presents an opportunity for homeowners to have fun, as the name implies, and add personal touches to their bathroom.
All-in on the Wet Room
The wet room, where part or all of the bathroom is designed in an open-concept style with a focus on waterproofing and focal points, has undeniably divided the design community. You either love the chance to splash around, or you don't. However, the wet room is here to stay. Wet rooms utilize universal design principles and embrace the spaces in which they are created.
