At the recent International Builders Show in Las Vegas, designers Christopher Grubb of Arch-Interiors Design Group Inc. and Jennifer Farrell of Jennifer Farrell Designs presented to an audience of building and design professionals, offering guided inspiration in a session titled “20X20 Story: High Style Bathrooms - What’s Hot and What’s Not.”
The lightning-fast presentation offered industry members plenty of inspiration (40 trends in total). It will interest homeowners looking to focus design efforts on creating an indulgent bathroom sanctuary with personal touches.
Here are some of the most exciting luxury bathroom trends they presented.
A Desire For Customization
Possibly the strongest luxe bath trend is the desire for bespoke, highly customized spaces. Split or multiple finishes are one example of this customization. Custom niches are also trending. They are seeing many of their clients playing with the scale of different hardware sizes, with consistent finishes, for an extra layer of customization. Custom plating is trending, particularly with two-tone metals.
Lots of Wood
Historically, wood has not been prominent in bath design because of ever-present moisture, but is used in luxury bathrooms. Wood grains typically vary regionally across the country. In addition to natural wood grain, homeowners are embracing texture with more timber. Wood-look parquet floors and faux-wood showers are trending, which feature wood-look tiles designed to withstand the water stream better.
Dramatic Jewel Box Powder Rooms
