When it comes to new home amenities, buyers would rather jump in a refreshing community pool than live in the relative security of a gated community.
NewHomeSource tracks the amenities that home browsers are seeking to understand which additional features they value most in a new build. While it’s no surprise interest in pools would increase in summertime, the watery escapes have run away as the nation’s No. 1 most sought-after amenity.
“Homeowners desire multifunctional outdoor spaces that allow them the freedom and flexibility to relax, exercise, and socialize with friends and family,” says Joanne McClain, editor-in-chief of Pool & Spa News.
While pools are the most sought-after commodity, having a security gate remains in second place (albeit in a declining position). Golf remains a viable third choice for many shoppers.
The amenity that has fallen off the most since NewHomeSource started tracking the data? Waterfront access. But who needs that when you have a pool right in your backyard, right?
