The small town of McDonough prides themselves on hospitality. From friendly waves at the grocery store to backyard BBQs, McDonough residents do their part in making neighbors feel welcome.
This is a town for all seasons. At Christmas they have the Christmas Extravaganza, and in July is the July 4th Fireworks show. There are also daily haunted tours and weekly Ladies Nights. Around October the berries start showing and the pumpkin vines become ripe, it's the perfect time to try Southern Belle Farm. Aside from strawberry picking there are pig races, a cow train, and a corn maze. It's the ideal stop to take the family for fun and education.
McDonough is always promoting community involvement and interaction. One of the best ways to get involved is volunteering at Noah's Ark Animal Rehabilitation Center. While it is great for the animals it also acts as a mean of rehabilitation for children as well. Leo the Lion, Baloo the Black Bear, and Shere Khan the Tiger are all patiently waiting for a visit. Or you can grab a group of friends and head over to the Atlanta Motor Speedway. Apart from the NASCAR night races, this is one of the country's top family entertainment facilities. Spend the evening with the family in the stands and maybe you can get an autograph afterwards.
This active community is pretty fond of the parks, hiking trails, golf courses, playgrounds, and sports fields McDonough offers. Especially the Windy Hill Park, which clearly wouldn't be acceptable without the obstacle course, paint ball complex, and lawn mower races. You can also go to the HCWSA Reservoir; it is the definition of outdoor family fun. Whether you find yourself reeling in a big one, or laying out sandwich fixings for lunch, the entire family will enjoy themselves.
"To create and sustain an artistic ambiance in historic McDonough..." that is the McDonough Arts motto. It is a popular location around town; they host events throughout the year and showcase many local works. Speaking of historic, while the museums have carefully chosen only the best to display, the reenactments at the Nash Farm never get old. Also, downtown is where you'll fall in love with the mom and pop restaurants, and local boutiques that have been in the family generations. Friendly shops line the streets of McDonough, and once you've worked up an appetite you'll need to sit down and order a burger or delicious hand spun shake from Chevy's Diner and Pub. This place has really conserved the historic diner vibe.
This great town has adventure written all over it. It truly is a friendly city, ideal for planting roots, and calling it home. New Home Source has a list of master planned community perfect for starting a new life in McDonough.
