Montgomery is a town in east Texas near Conroe. With a population of just over 600 and covering less than 5 square miles, this town is small. It goes against the Texan phrase, "Everything's bigger in Texas." However, the history in this town makes up for its lack in size.

Montgomery is one of the oldest towns in Texas, so unsurprisingly, its recognition as the birthplace of the Texas Lone Star Flag is perfectly fitting. Texas history radiates from Montgomery, especially in Fernland Historical Park. Historic homes, including log cabins and cottages, have been restored and relocated to this park. There is even a museum and even gift shop here. Montgomery has three other parks: Homecoming Park, Memory Park, Cedar Brake Park. Cedar Brake Park was designed to provide an entertaining time for wheelchair-bound or physically-challenged residents. Only a handful of parks like this exist in Texas, which shows that Montgomery aids the diverse needs of their citizens.

Sunshine Farm is one of the secrets of Montgomery. You can come here to collect vegetables as well as fresh herbs to perfectly season any dish. They raise goats, quail, pigeons and chickens. Forget about buying eggs at the grocery store, and buy them here, where the yolks are orange. There is also a gift shop with natural and handmade products like soaps, lotions, scrubs, body dust, herbal teas, Skeeter B Gone (an all-natural bug repellent) and more.

Every once in a while, you literally agree with the phrase "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen." When you do want to escape cooking meals, you are in the right place. Montgomery has plenty of restaurants to choose from. Some of the residents' favorite places are Filet & Vine. This is a market, deli and bottle shop. You can host an event in their banquet room, and they offer catering service. Ruddles Pub & Grill is a must. They are known for their fresh seafood, especially crab claws and shrimp and grit, and also for live music every Friday night.

The past is celebrated here, but Montgomery does not lose sight of its future. Education is one of the keys to a successful future, and Montgomery Independent School District provides a top-notch education that empowers each and every student. Montgomery is also growing as more people are finding it a great place to settle down. Master-planned communities are meeting the needs of its residents as well as preparing for its future residents. New Home Source can help you sort through the available choices and locate your dream home. In no way is Montgomery stuck in the past, but rather it uses its past and history to enhance its future.
