Of all the towns in the Phoenix area, Queen Creek is the one that will remind you most of the Midwest, Southeast, or even Northeast. This is the bread basket of the Phoenix area, home to several highly-regarded farms and even an equestrian centre. Arizonians who desire lots of space at an attractive price come to Queen Creek. So do area residents with horses--or children (same thing, really?). In a nutshell: it's a small, quiet community that will be great for you and your family. Not to mention, it's a comfortable distance away from Phoenix, if you would like a short commute.
If you consider yourself a "locavore," or can't stand the term, you owe it to yourself to visit Schnepf Farms. You know it has to be good, when Governor Janet Napolitano declared this family-owned farm an "Arizona Treasure." Though it's a popular site for weddings, families can also come to kid-friendly events like the Pumpkin and Chili Party, a month-long celebration held each October. Corn mazes, bonfires, and pony rides are de rigueur if you go the rest of the year. Even if you don't have kids, it's worth a visit or two. Who said hayrides and chili cook-offs weren't for the Southwest?
Another local treasure is the Queen Creek Olive Mill, which was featured on "The Best Thing I Ever Ate," a Food Network show. There's always something going on at this specialized little farm. Grab a few neighbors and attend one of the wine tastings, or, for the little ones, turn out for the gelato socials. Even if you just come for a look around--and a bottle of Arizona's only extra-virgin olive oil--you're ensured a fun and delicious afternoon at the Olive Mill. The little Mediterranean-style bungalow that houses the mill is also a favorite destination for Phoenix couples planning a wedding.
Queen Creek area horse owners--and there are a few around here--chose their town not only for its wide open spaces, but also because of the facilities it already has in place to serve their needs. The main facility we're talking about is the Horseshoe Park and Equestrian Centre. While the Events Centre is famous as the home of the Roots n' Boots rodeo, the community arena is open to everyone, any time. Just bring your riding boots, a saddle, and of course, you favorite equine companion.
If you'd rather cross the desert sans horse, that's no obstacle to your enjoyment of the area. In Queen Creek, you're near the San Tan Mountain Regional Park where hiking, biking, and other mountain sports and activities are easily accessible. This is a great asset to the community. At 2,500 feet, you'll feel a world away from the bustle of city life and even of suburban life.
You'll love it here in Queen Creek. It's truly one of the area's undiscovered gems. Let New Home Source help you beat the crowd, and move into to a new home that's all your own.
