Fishers, Indiana, doesn't get half the attention it deserves, but some of its statistics may change that soon enough. It came in at number 8 on CNN and Money magazine's 2010 list of the "Best Places to Live" in the U.S. Among the reasons cited for Fishers' ascendance? Jobs, lots of jobs. In 2010 the city crated 2600 jobs in over 1900 businesses. Almost half the population has a four-year degree, and an additional 15 percent has a graduate degree, giving Fishers one of the most educated workforces in Indiana. So if you're tired of hearing nothing but doom and gloom, this small Indianapolis suburb will make a refreshing change.
The town comes well-stocked with some of the best shopping and amenities in the Indianapolis area. Stock up on necessities at Hamilton Town Center, where you'll find Banana Republic, Express, LOFT, Francesca's Collections, Coldwater Creek, Charming Charlie, and White House Black Market. If you're in need of groceries, why not try something a little different and head to the Fishers Farmers' Market?
On the weekends, you and your family will love discovering Fishers' amazing selection of parks. Start with the River Road Park, with 62 acres of waterfront greener for you to explore. Kids can tire themselves out on the huge, state-of-the-art playground while grown-ups relax on the river. You also can get a sneak peek at the 92-acre Bray Family Homestead Park, which is still in development but promises to be one of Fishers' best-loved natural parks. Coxhall Gardens may be the most beautiful of them all, manicured for your visual enjoyment. If you're a more active person--or just a social butterfly--be sure to take advantage of the numerous adult sports leagues the city organizes.
Do you love to relax with a round of golf? So do many of your new neighbors! The Hawthorns Golf and Country Club, has not only the level of golf you expect from a private club, but also a fitness center and tennis courts. In nearby Carmel, you can try your hand at Prairie View Golf Club, which features a challenging course designed by golf architect great Robert Trent Jones, Jr.
As a Fishers resident, your children will enjoy a high-quality education, but it never hurts to supplement it with a "field trip" or two. Load up the car and take the kids to Connor Prairie Interactive History Park. Here, your children will not only learn about history, but participate in it, in a true-to-life exhibit called Prairietown 1836.
Fishers will make a great home for you and your family. Let us help you find the home you've been dreaming of, in the heart of this wonderful community.
