Names are more than just names. They are chosen for a specific reason. The reason why the city of Milford, Ohio was named Milford goes way back in its past. People use to wade across the shallow part, also known as the ford, of the Little Miami River, in order to reach a mill. That is how this city became known as Milford. Unfortunately, Scott's Mill burned down due to a fire on New Year's Day in 1920. Since then this town moved away from its roots as a mill town but still strongly thrives on keeping a sense of community while developing for the future.

Milford is now known for the eight trails that intersect and wind throughout the city. These trails total over 22,000 miles and are all part of America's Long Distance Trails. One of the trails, The Little Miami Scenic Trail, which just happens to be the longest paved trail in the U.S., is popular for hikers, bikers and even horseback riders. Another trail, Underground Railroad Cycling Route, uses historic sites as focal points for interest. The Buckeye Trail has the perfect spot overlooking the Ohio River from a hilltop. There are not only eight intersecting trails in Milford, but here are also seven parks. The parks include playgrounds, picnic benches, grills, courts for basketball, tennis and handball, a baseball field and tetherball. Residents located in this city have many ways to enjoy the great outdoors and stay active.

Residents also love spending time in downtown Milford. There are many shops and restaurants to suit everyone. Start your day off right with homemade breakfast at the family-owned Big Poppa Slims. If you are looking for something more upscale, visit MJ's on Main for fresh dishes and specialty drinks. For the wine lovers, try one of the 100 types of wine 20 Brix offers while enjoying a paired entree, and you can even take a bottle home from their retail store. Milford also has many annual events that are a favorite for locals and nonlocals. Clean sweep your house or turn other people's trash into your treasure at the US 50 Spring Yard Sale and Fall Yard Sale. Get out of the movie theater and enjoy a film at Movies on the Miami. The Sunflower Festival is one of the most popular events and a great way to spend time with family and friends. There are many more festivities to enjoy and you won't want to miss out!

Milford has something to offer everyone. Nature enthusiasts, food lovers, community supporters and family-oriented people make up the population of Milford. This city welcomes anyone and everyone. Find where you fit in at Milford and let New Home Source guide you to find the perfect new home for you!
