Delaware is a hidden gem of Ohio: a constantly growing city, and many times overlooked for the rush of the big city lights. At 30,000 people, Delaware is rated among the top 20 fastest-growing, best-educated, and most wealthy counties in the nation. This could contribute to the heightened attraction to many young families, since it is a nice distance from the pace and issues contributed to the metropolitan regions.

Delaware was founded in 1808, and later the birth place of the former President Hayes, but the history doesn't stop there. Delaware offers many different museums, as well as the Delaware County Historical Society, which encourages its residents to check it out, or even join. But the adventures don't stop as the museum! Head to the great outdoors, there are a huge selection of parks open to the public. Mingo Park has a more than 10,000 square foot skate park facility, fishing year round, numerous multi use trails, and even an indoor track for rainy days, and Alum Creek is a beautiful state park surrounding a creek, that allows for boating, fishing, and water sports-- it's even home to the Little Brown Jug, harness racing.

Recently the county handed the "overseeing of recreational programs" to the YMCA. They are making advances in initiating team activities for the community including city leagues, baseball, basketball, flag football, and basketball, for both children and adults. If your less of a team person, or just enjoy a little peace and quiet, Delaware has multiple golf courses, including the Hidden Valley golf course, complete with teeing ground, fairway, and luscious green landscaping. With that said there is still more! The Jack Florance Pool consists of two over 25ft water slide, interactive water toys, and a huge swimming area, that is always a favorite for all ages in the summer. And for Senior Citizens, the Delaware Senior Center is full of wonderful people! They take many trips to museums, parks, and various fairs, including Delaware's own 4th of July festivities, and provide aerobics, sporting events, book clubs, and many different classes.

At just 30 miles from the State capital of Columbus, Delaware provides just enough distance from pace, but is still big enough to keep its residents involved. Delaware is filled with a wide variation of diners and restaurants. So give the growing city of Delaware a chance. You won't regret it! Let the folks at New Home Source help put you in a new home!
