Weekend warriors can jump back a century or two and visit battlefields such as the Monocacy National Battlefield and the South Mountain Battlefield State Park and try to relive the struggles and heroism shown on these fields. The Frederick area is home to about 90 national, state, and local parks, so there is no end to hiking, fishing, and camping during summer days. Animal lovers will like to spend their time at the Catoctin Wildlife Preserve & Zoo, while golfers will be driving the ball down the Golf at Clustered Spires Golf Club or at one of the other winning golf courses in the area.
