North of the Quantico Marine Corps base and south of Washington D.C., Triangle makes the perfect hiding place for anyone who wants to get away from the noise and traffic of urban D.C. This little town, while it maintains useful connections to the military and to the nation's capital, nonetheless offers residents a respite from what can be a chaotic region of northern Virginia.
The most important influence on Triangle is the Marines base. Now, much of the base will be (understandably) off-limits to civilians, but the National Museum of the Marine Corps is yours for the taking. This 135-acre museum currently houses 8 main exhibits that cover, respectively, the major wars of the past two centuries, as well as the "boot camp" process of making men and women into Marines. The best introduction to the museum, however, might be the exhibit known as the "Legacy Walk," which connects the other exhibits and presents a few highlights of each. The museum is big enough for more than one visit, so if you have a military buff in your family, plan accordingly!
Triangle is at the heart of Prince William County, a quiet community bound by the Potomac River that flows through the area. Thanks to the river, Triangle and the surrounding towns are full of photo ops. A few places where you can see the sights include Leesylvania State Park and the the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail.
If you like to see nature only from the vantage point of a golf course, you can do that too. The Prince William Golf Course, General's Ridge Golf Course, and Forest Greens all boast 18 holes apiece-- perfect to keep any golfer occupied each weekend for a good long while.
When you want someplace to take your friends to celebrate an all-time low score, the Triangle area has a number of restaurants where you can do just that. Two of the best are the Globe and Laurel Restaurant, located in nearby Stafford, Tim's Rivershore Restaurant and Crabhouse, where you can experience the local cuisine of Maryland and Virginia, and the Rheingarten Restaurant, an authentic German restaurant.
Although small, Triangle is full of surprises. Yet, it's a calm, family-oriented town where you can get away from it all. If this sounds like what you're looking for, look no further. New Home Source has the area's best homes, condos, and builders, all in one place, so you can get started planning your life in Triangle.
