The Colorado City of Castle Rock was named after the butte made of the volcanic rock, Rhyolite, which took on the shape of a castle. This rock found in the Rocky Mountains first attracted settlers to this area. Ever since then Castle Rock has grown and prospered, and is currently home to around 50,000 residents. Besides the distinguished Rhyolite, many other things persuade people to settle down in Castle Rock.

Castle Rock is the perfect place for a recreational lifestyle. The Colorado countryside is perfect for days of exploration involving walking, hiking and biking through the parks and trails. If you are a true outdoorsman, you will participate in the Backyard Summer Camp Out at Philip S. Miller Park with friends and family. The crafts, community dinner and campfire, guided hikes, scavenger hunt and stargazing will make this much more than your ordinary camping experience. Golfers are completely satisfied with their experience every time they step on the Red Hawk Ridge Golf Course and keep coming back for more. The Recreation Center provides indoor recreation with a swimming and leisure pool, gym, weight and cardio room, indoor track, steam room, whirlpool, racquetball and wallyball courts and even childcare service so you can work up a sweat worry free! Activities are also offered here ranging from pottery to ballroom dancing classes to kayaking and ski trips.

Activities and festivities bring this community closer together. Volunteers join forces to paint houses during the Castle Rock Pain-A-Thon every year. Residents of every age participate in Pedal the Moon. This bike race takes place at night where contestants ride their bikes and wear headlamps guide them to the finish line. Other events include Western Wear Day, Farmers Markets, Douglas County Fair Parade, Colorado Artfest, Oktoberfest and the list keeps going. Residents highly recommend visiting Castle Rock Museum, listening to the magical music of the Castle Rock Orchestra and seeing a live theater performance put on by Castle Rock Players.

Here are some rock solid reasons that prove Castle Rock is a great place to live: In 2001 Money magazine recognized Castle Rock as 19th in their "100 Best Places to Live in America". Earlier in 2010, Family Circle magazine gave the number one spot to Castle Rock of their "10 Best Towns for Families". You can trust in New Home Source to provide you the best new housing options in the city. The hardest part is not choosing to move here, but choosing from the beautiful empty homes!
