The Jonquil City, otherwise known as Smyrna is rich in... hold on! let me fill you in on a secret before you get a funny look from a long-time local. Jonquils are a type of flower that blooms in Smyrna in the spring. In 1883 Samuel Taylor and his family moved to Smyrna, his son, away in school, sent a sack of jonquil bulbs home to his parents, the Taylors, shared them with the town, and then year after year they began to multiply, thus beginning the community tradition of planting jonquils... Anyway, as I was saying, Smyrna is rich in history. The town is filled with museums, monuments, and landmarks to remember their roots, and culture.
Aside from the culture you'll be overcome with the sense of community. This small-town atmosphere makes it easy to open up and become involved. At the community center, there are youth and adult sports leagues, racquetball courts, walking track, fitness area, and game rooms open to the public daily. In addition they offer numerous classes like ballet, dance, and fitness. All are great ways to stay fit with your neighbors. Throughout the year, to bring the community together, Symrna hosts annual festivities for all ages like the summer concert series, trunk or treating each Halloween, and a Christmas Festival complete with jolly old St. Nick himself.
While you will enjoy being outside of the hustle and bustle of Atlanta, you won't have to worry about missing out on larger city amenities. Downtown Symrna supports numerous local businesses from boutiques to restaurants, and the Market Village has become the social center for Symrna. While the Belmont Hills open air mall has all the shopping you're looking for, sit down and enjoy a steak of Blackstone Restaurant, or grab a beer with friends at one of the bars like the electric Lime Taqueria & Tequila Bar.
This growing town is comprised of many young families. As such the Symrna School District promotes the very best for students and aims to prepare each of them for a diverse workforce and all life has to offer. Parents have been pleased by the results, and are assured Symrna is providing their children with the best level of education they can.
Being just north of the Atlanta metroplex, why not embrace all it has to offer? For starters it is the perfect location for a job, as the ten-minute commute doesn't hurt. In addition as the economic status gets better, the amount of job openings and opportunities Atlanta has for you to consider makes it even more and more appealing. Moving on is the shopping, from high-end fashion to quaint boutiques, whatever you're looking for will be a breeze to find, even if that includes tickets to a Hawks basketball game, or the perfect seats to catch a foul ball at the Braves ballpark. During the days there are numerous outdoor and indoor venues to take the entire family, whether that is the Aquarium or just a picnic in one of the parks. Finally Atlanta is pleased to offer an intriguing nightlife. From Opera, to Broadway shows, or Karaoke at the bar, whatever age you may be, there is an event and place for you!
