Also just 15 miles away is Lake Lanier. From boating and skiing, or fishing, it's a great attraction for all ages, and an easy way to get that sun kissed tan after those winter months. Golfers mustn't fret Suwanee wouldn't be complete without its championship level courses, pristine fairways, and proshops equipped to please the inventor of golf himself.
The heart of Suwanee lies in the Town Center. It consists of over 100,000 square feet of retail space, and offices, interlinking trails, an interactive fountain, performance stages, and the Town Center Park. It has become known by locals as "Suwanee's Front Yard", an ideal place for Suwanee gatherings. During the summer the stage is filled with local performances and shows, as the open fields are filled with vibrant blankets, and hyper children.
Throughout the year there are a number of community events but the one that stands above the rest is Suwanee Day. Each year live entertainment is hired for concerts, and local bands, talent groups, high school clubs, and dance studios perform in the Town center. The day is kicked off by the parade, and proceeds with the 10k and 5k races. As the day continues there are competitions, face painting, kid's games, great food, and local business that have set up booths along the street. It is a day based around bringing the community together.
