The main attraction of Falling Waters, besides the incredible natural scenery, is its location. Here you will enjoy easy access to major highways like I-81 and I-70, and proximity to the bigger cities of Martinsburg and Hagerstown. Many residents commute to busier places and return home to the tranquility of Falling Waters. If you're particularly brave, you may even wish to use Falling Waters as your home base for a commute to Washington D.C. Plentiful and affordable homes make the American Dream a reality for residents of this small, but gorgeous little town.
The fine arts have even taken up residence in this region at the Washington County Museum of the Fine Arts in Hagerstown. Late 19th and early 20th century art take the stage here, but exhibits broaden the diversity of the work on display. Recent exhibits include "Art for America," a compendium of WPA prints, "Cumberland Valley Artists," a local art display, and "21st Century Still Life," an exhibition of modern-day still-life paintings by artists such as Derek Buckner, Tom Gregg, and Stanley Goldstein. This is truly a local treasure, and worth the journey across the state line to see it.
For most Falling Waters residents, the natural beauty of the area is entertainment enough. If you have fond memories of playing by the creek as a child, this is your chance to give your own children the benefit of a rural childhood. The Potomac River, Opequon Creek, Cherry Run, and Meadow Branch all offer you the waterside experience you hope to find whenever you go hiking. Mountains, clear streams, and green trees are the calling card of West Virginia, and this little town is no exception. You may find your interest in the outdoors increases tenfold after you've here for a few years. Even the harder-to-find sports, like skiing, are practiced here.
This is the second-oldest county in the state, and as such, it has a few hidden gems of great historical value for you to explore, such as Maidstone-on-the-Potomac, an eighteenth-century farm on the National Register of Historic Places. Unfortunately a mysterious fire in 2009 damaged the structure, so it isn't quite as beautiful as it used to be. It remains a fascinating local treasure that yields much insight into the lives of colonial West Virginians.
Get here before everyone else does: as Hagerstown and Martinsburg expand, this little town is sure to become a bigger one. New Home Source can help you find your place in Falling Waters.
