What was once a trading post for settlers and Indians, comprised of tents, a log school, surrounded by countryside and cotton, is now the bustling city of Alpharetta, Georgia. This beautiful city still does what it can to preserve the natural countryside from which it came, whether that be by the parks, and nature trails for residents enjoyment or the Big Creek Greenway with 8 miles of wooded trails, rolling hills, and a variety of wildlife including heron, deer, ducks, and Canadadian geese.
Once inside the heart of Alpharetta you'll find this to be a very friendly place to live. Dog owners socialize at the Waggie World Dog Park, which includes water fountains for puppies and owners alike. If you don't feel like being outside the North Point Mall is a wonderful place to lose yourself for a while. In the afternoons the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater is a great place to meet up with the neighbors for a concert, both big name bands, and local favorites, or just head over to one of the local bars for live music, pool, and some drinks after work. During the winter months the Cool Family Skate Center is a big hit for date nights, as well as Pampas Steakhouse which locals rave about. And being less than 30 miles north of Atlanta doesn't hurt either.
To get the community together Alpharetta throws numerous fairs, festivals, and parades. During the summer there's the July 4th Fireworks and Festivities, and Dive in Movie Series. Each year around Thanksgiving Alpharetta throws the Scarecrow Harvest where K-5th graders contend against each other creating over 100 scarecrows. While children are being awarded for best design, funniest, and most stylish, the rest of the town is enjoying the country music, corn hole, hay rides, face painting, storytelling, and other activities to get the whole family involved. After the festivities, and Monday roles back around, Fulton County ISD parents don't have to worry about their children. Fulton County schools have been rated "One of the Top 100 School Districts in Places You Can Afford", and are consistently winning awards for their high quality of education.
This city is proud of what it has to offer, from museums and galleries to multiple golfs courses and boutiques. Alpharetta has a little something for everyone. Why keep searching for a city, when you could be looking for a new home in Alpharetta instead? New Home Source has a list waiting so come and take your pick.
