When you need a larger variety of stores you will discover that the area has many malls to choose from, all within 30-miles of Amherst. From the Great Northern Mall in North Olmsted, and the SouthPark Mall in Strongsville, to Crocker Park in Westlake, each with their own distinctive mix of stores. While they do share many of the same tenants, you will still find that each mall still has their own appeal.
You will not find a better park for spending time outdoors than the Amherst Beaver Creek Reservation. This park has picnic facilities, a soccer field, playground and a short paved trail that leads you through the natural splendor of Beaver Creek. Lakeview Park in nearby Lorain is perfect for summer weekends, with access to Lake Erie, a beach, and a variety of events and sporting activities held every summer.
Amherst has their own independent schools district, serving the residents with five public schools. There is one private school within Amherst, with another five private schools within Lorain County. Higher education is offered through Oberlin College in Oberlin, and Lorain County Community College in Elyria, not forgetting the universities and colleges found in Cleveland.
