1. Pennsauken Township

Home Price to Income Ratio: 2.61

Average Property Tax: $6,494

Median Household Income: $60,433

The title of most affordable city in New Jersey goes to Pennsauken Township. Located in the western part of the state along the Pennsylvania-New Jersey border, Pennsauken Township is considered a suburb of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Its location makes it an attractive choice for those interested in living close to the City of Brotherly Love. In the township itself, residents can partake in boating down Cooper River Lake, golfing at the country club, and learning local history at the 300-year old Griffith Morgan House.

2. Galloway Township

Home Price to Income Ratio: 3.32

Average Property Tax: $5,867

Median Household Income: $63,444

Located along the coast, Galloway Township is home to over 35,000 residents. Nature enthusiasts will love hiking and exploring the numerous wildlife refuges scattered across the islands. Folks can also soak up the sun along the beaches, go camping, and have a drink at local breweries.

3. Camden

Median Household Income: $27,015

Located adjacent to Pennsauken Township, Camden is a thriving riverside city with a population of over 77,000. From museums, aquariums, and historical sites such as Walt Whitman House, entertainment is never far away in Camden. Need more ideas? 4. Gloucester Township

5. Egg Harbor Township

Egg Harbor Township stretches along the bay in Atlantic City County. Home to Atlantic City International Airport, Egg Harbor Township is a convenient place to call home if you enjoy traveling. 6. Manchester Township

Average Property Tax: $3,885

Located in Ocean County, Manchester Township is best known for being the site of the Hindenburg disaster. It deserves to be known for more than that horrific moment in national history, of course; the township is full of colorful attractions and lush greenery. Visit the art galleries of Brooksbrae Terracotta Brick Factory, or work up a sweat jogging along Harry Wright Lake.

7. Winslow Township

Average Property Tax: $7,456

Median Household Income: $69,312

Winslow Township is centrally located in Camden County. Home to everything from wildlife refuges to paintball centers, Winslow Township has something for everyone. If you’re looking for a fun weekend outing, visit one of the multiple wineries scattered throughout the township.

8. Willingboro Township

Home Price to Income Ratio: 2.42

Average Property Tax: $5,979

Median Household Income: $68,479

Willingboro Township is located along Rancocas Creek. You’ll find all your urban amenities here including parks, restaurants, and places of worship. 

9. Deptford Township

Home Price to Income Ratio: 2.89

Average Property Tax: $6,078

Median Household Income: $67,196

Just west of Gloucester Township, you’ll find Deptford Township. Almonesson Creek Park and Tall Pines State Preserve offer great hiking trails and chances to observe local wildlife in their natural habitat. If you prefer indoor activities, check out the shops of Deptford Mall or learn about local history at the Museum of American History Deptford, NJ.

10. Trenton
