As a new homeowner I felt completely overwhelmed in searching for a home. The chaos of that experience ended with walking into LGI homes. My sales person kept me in the loop on every single thing and even answered my off the wall questions with ease and understanding. He called me every Thursday with an update whether it was good news or bad news on the process of the build. This was so necessary for my peace of mind as I was in a lease before closing in my home. The lenders stayed in contact with me as well and always returned phone calls, which is a scarcity this day in age. I appreciated ...

LGI Homes - Awful experience dealing with Angel and rude, unprofessional

  • Jayne T.

Awful experience dealing with Angel and rude, unprofessional Karen Fortich. They lied and lied about when the property I wanted would be ready, and then Karen had the nerve to raise her voice at me because she was overwhelmed and couldnt handle her job. Every house I chose I couldnt get, Joe Boyd is posting homes that are no where near ready. I had to choose a home $25,000 more than the first home I chose. That must be their way of up-charging and getting homeowners to pay more, by adding lesser priced homes and then taking off the lesser priced house off the market, how is this legal. A ...

LGI Homes responded:
Hi Jayne, we apologize for any miscommunications about what is included in your home. Our teams are always happy to answer any questions about what is included. We are surprised to hear about your experience with our team. This is not how we expect our team members to conduct themselves. We appreciate your feedback so we can investigate this further.

I have purchased 4 homes in my lifetime. All my other homes we 5-10 years old when purchased. This LGI home was a new build and it was not even complete and there was total lack of attention to detail. Awful service and final product

LGI Homes responded:
Hi James, thank you for taking the time to leave a review about your experience. This does not sound like the typical service we like to provide and are surprised to hear your feedback. Our homes go through multiple third-party inspections to ensure they are up to code. The HORRIBLE level of customer service and the lack of concern with customer satisfaction

  • Veronica D.

It is apparent that the sales team that worked at The Reserve at Canyon Hills has no regard for the customer experience, and that they are accustomed to only working with clients that have no concept of the home buying process, and without knowledge of industry requirements, as it relates to financial requirements. I am not a first-time homebuyer, although this is the first house I've done from the ground up. I walked in the doors of the sales office with a loan approval in hand, chose to go with LGI's preferred lender, but was later threatened to have my contract canceled by the Project ...

Hi Veronica, we appreciate you bringing these frustrations to our attention, and we apologize for any lack of communication you may have received during the homebuying process. We are always looking for ways to improve and appreciate your feedback.

Worst Experience in My Life

Where to start on how bad of a buying experience this was? I am even shocked I am being sent this considering it was so bad we even tried to reach the CEO about it through LinkedIn. To begin, when we first arrived on the LGI property we were given the typical walk around the office to have LGI read their values and explain it to us. Such a waste of my time and all part of the charade if you ask me, I just wanted to get out and start looking. After their little speech we went to look at a mix of mostly finished homes and lots. After an hour or so we finally found a lot we liked. We went ...

LGI Homes responded:
Hi Joshua, we are sorry to hear about the experience you had. We understand your frustration and disappointment and many of the items you have outlined are very abnormal and not reflective of the experience we pride ourselves on. Our teams stay in communication when a lot or home is sold with the aim to avoid the incident that occurred while signing your contract, and we are disheartened that this situation happened at all. As you mentioned, the delays in construction were largely due to shortages and our teams provide the updates that we have received from our suppliers. We know that it is troubling to not be able to receive solid answers on when you will be able to move into your home. The flooding of the home is unfortunate and an extremely rare situation. We know that it hit even harder after already waiting so long for your home and we apologize that it caused further delay. We appreciate your patience as we fixed the home so you could move in. What you went through is extremely atypical and we are disappointed that we did not deliver the buying experience that we pride ourselves ...

My expectations were very unpleasant. The new house has many details, such as poor leveling of the walls, they did not seal the door slots, poorly painted the walls, they did not seal the door slots, poorly painted the walls,It was a very bad choice to buy my house with this company. On the other hand, the person in charge of repairing things inside the house only paints on the damaged parts, he does not replace them. I feel very sad because I expected more from them.

Throughout the whole experience, I thought "This is too good to be true and when is the truth going to show itself?" I'm beyond happy to say that everything I was told about the process was true. Right up until I signed the paperwork and was handed the keys, I was waiting for something to change....it never did!

Overall, I was very impressed with the LGI home buying experience, as was my relator. It is non-traditional meaning you do not pick ANYTHING in your home but the finishes and such are pretty good as their standard. The process was very well organized, they were communicative and the sales, contractors etc. were all very friendly and professional. There are 3 issues that I have with LGI. 1. Radon testing--we tested our home before closing and the levels were an average of 3x the recommended levels. LGI doesn't care about radon and the high levels. We as new home owners had to spend another ...

Happy to Own a Home, But Came with Some Flaws

My husband and I bought in October 2021, we hired an inspector and our report came back with multiple different things that should be fixed. We spoke with the construction manager who stated someone in the office had the report and would show him. We also had the wrong outlet installed for our dryer (range installed) and had to have someone come out and replace it. Once I submitted claims for all the items that needed fixing, about a month later the construction manager came and said he’d get on the items that needed fixing (which included several shingles on our roof that needed fixing). ...

Absolutely the worst experience for a first time home buyer.. they told us they’re always on time they told our lender to stop telling us that they’ll push the date back and they told us to move out of our apartments because they’re always on time.. well we gave our notice to move out of our apartments like they said and then they pushed our move in back four months which made us homeless then our apartments let us stay for a rent increase and LGI didn’t cover the difference there was ZERO communication throughout the entire process I had to drive 40 minutes to get answers because they ...

Eye for Details

Overall the purchase of the home went smoothly. Loan Depot was very easy to work with. Be sure to do a VERY detailed inspection with a third party and an independent walk through on your own. They poured our garage slab out of square, used short screws in all interior doors and some sloppy trim work. They are going to adjust the garage door to try to make it line up better with the slab. Warranty requests are easy to submit but require A LOT of harassing and follow up to be completed. Don’t give up until everything is fixed.

LGI Homes responded:
Hi Matthew, we appreciate your feedback. While our homes undergo several inspections by third parties throughout the construction process, you are always welcome to have your own inspection done. We expect our team to contact you within one business day of you submitting a claim and appreciate your insight into your experience.

First looked at the home we were satisfied but after we signed the paper and handed over the earnest money things went to crap. They don’t communicate very well and our closing date changed five times, all they wanted to do was blame the city for not having enough inspectors but after doing research they did have the inspectors but LGI was failing 55% of their inspections and to top it all off the reason they didn’t start building the home they promised us right away was because they never paid the city the cost for the permit. Don’t buy here they don’t give a crap about you or anything else ...
